When working with my calendar, I do the following to create an allDayEvent which spans more than one day (e.g.Vacation or scool halidays):
- I create an allDayEvent for the 1st day
- I click on the event
- now I may enter the last date and save the event.
How may I do this in a script? I may get the flag with "isAllDayEvent"; I may set a date with "setAllDayDate"; but how to set a start-date and an end-date to an AllDayEvent?
You have to use recurrence, see full documentation here
In your example it would use addDailyRule to repeat every day and until to define endDate.

I have an recurring event on the 7th of each month but am struggling to find an RRule that I can put into a text editor and import into google calendar. I need the rule to put the event on the last week day if the 7th falls on a weekend. Thanks in advance.
Due to the fallback condition, I don't think you can achieve this only defining a RRULE, unfortunately.
RRULE in Google Calendar follows RFC 5545 specification.
With RFC 5545, regarding monthly recurrences, you can either set the recurring rule for a specific day of the month (e.g. always on the 7th of the month would be RRULE:FREQ=MONTHLY;BYMONTHDAY=7) or a specific offset of day of the week within a month (e.g. second to last weekday of the month would be RRULE:FREQ=MONTHLY;BYDAY=MO,TU,WE,TH,FR;BYSETPOS=-2).
Only using this specification, I don't believe there is a way to select the previous (or next) weekday in reference to the 7th day of the month.
However you can always achieve this by using a script to generate the dates or interpret an existing list you already have before insert them on Google Calendar.
I have a report with one data source in Google Data Studio. The data is at month level inside the BigQuery table YYYYMM (for example 202001). I have a filter that is set on the year-month dimension which works ok but I would like to add a default value which changes to last month(max(year_month)) available in the table.
Is this possible? I only found the option to hard-code the default selection but this can't be updated dynamically
as in this screen shot
Jaishree's suggestion
You can create an another field/column as same year-month and always keep the latest year-month value as "latest month" or any name you want. You can use logic like
when existing_column = max(year_month) then "latest month" else existing_column
Something like this
existing_column new_column
022020 latest month
012020 012020
122019 122019
112019 122019
You can pass this "latest month" value in the default selection option this option which is just below the dimension. But each time you upload new data you have to update this field like change the table suppose for next month you table should be like
existing_column new_column
032020 latest month
022020 022020
012020 012020
122019 122019
112019 122019
You can make auto update by scheduling queries as well in big query from where you are loading data to Google data studio.
It can be achieved by setting the Date Range (at the chart, report level, Date Range Control, etc) to Last Month.
First, a YYYYMMDD Date field needs to be created at the Data Source. This can be done using the CONCAT function to add a Day (the 15th is used in the formula) and then using the TODATE function (although in this case the TODATE function is not required, however, adding it as best practice):
TODATE(CONCAT(Date, "15"), "%Y%m%d", "%Y%m%d" )
Adding a link to post on the Google Forums (Nimantha; 10 Feb 2020) which also has a GIF to demonstrate the process above as well as adding the Date field at the Report Level.
You can do it by creating a new field where rows that belong to the current year-month are labeled as 'Current Month' while the others could use your preferred formatting (I'm using "%Y%m - %B %Y" as it allows me to sort report dates in a drop down list).
To do so, you need your date column and CURRENT_DATE() in the same format with the help of FORMAT_DATETIME(). Then, you can use CASE WHEN logic as follows:
CASE
WHEN FORMAT_DATETIME("%Y%m", MyDateColumn) != FORMAT_DATETIME("%Y%m", CURRENT_DATE())
THEN FORMAT_DATETIME("%Y%m - %B %Y", MyDateColumn)
ELSE 'Current Month'
END
Finally, you could use a drop down list control with the new field and use 'Current Month' as the default selection. The main advantage is that the code above will be evaluated every time data is refreshed so no extra automations needed.
Hope it works for you.
how to get the hourly calculation according to the earliest start time and earliest stop time.
the condition is if the driver has the same name of drop address. the hourly calculation will show for all. The 0.00hrs should apply to all riders with the same drop address regardless of how many in the same ride. I attached a screenshot and which type of output I needed it's shown in highlighted areas.

Use DATEDIFF function to calculate the number of minutes or seconds between start and end times and divide it by 60 or 3600 to get the hours.

I am trying to build a week view of the month with customized cells, so the Calendar class won't work for me.
I am having trouble knowing on which day the month starts. For example, January 1st was a Friday. Also, I need to know how many days a given month has.
Without telling me the exact code, can you tell me the variables or methods I could use for this?
Look at the actual code for the Calendar class here: http://github.com/codenameone/CodenameOne/
Just set java.util.Calendar to the right date then use the get method to get the day of the week.
I have a PivotTable (actually it is five PivotTables, each on its own separate sheet) that is created from a query of an outside database. Each of the PivotTables represents a day (i.e. Today, Tomorrow, Today+2, Today+3, and Today+4). For the report filter for the first two, we use a date range filter of today and tomorrow which automatically filters the data and allows it to roll over. We created custom date ranges for the other three days, but upon every external data refresh we have to go into each sheet and reselect the report filter from all to the specified time frame. This data rolls over every day so we can see the lineup for the next 96 hours out.
Is there a way to either keep the PivotTable report filter criteria (VBA and macros are both acceptable, although we are also fairly new to both)?
Or is there some super secret way to extend the report filter from just today and tomorrow to a time range (48 hours, 96 hours) instead of next month?
I need the days to be separated, so next week will not work because all the days will populate on one page.
Without seeing a real example it's hard to tell, but how about changing the query to a relative date index, i.e. something like
SELECT DATEDIFF('day', GETDATE(), report_dt) AS days_from_today FROM reporting_table
And then set your report filters on this relative date index (days_from_today = 1 for tomorrow, etc)? You can always create another Excel column in the report =TODAY() + days_from_today to get your absolute date back. (Assuming you are just dealing with one time zone for reporting purposes.)
I.e., instead of rolling filters, keep the filters on constant indices, and let the indices cover a rolling date range. I'm not sure Excel is smart enough to do the rolling filters thing.
