I need to change the Display Format of a view to use a module. I can not find where to change the Display Format. Does anyone know where to do this?
On the settings for the view, /admin/structure/views/view/view_name/edit, there is a fieldset titled "FORMAT" right beneath the "TITLE" setting. The first option in that fieldset is the format option. You can display view results as a grid, an HTML-formmated list (ul, ol), a table, an unformatted list (series of divs) or a jump menu. Each format has its own settings as well.

I know, if you want to check the names of the Display Output of the view page then we need to click on the Information Link near by Theme of Advance Theme of the view, it will list all the files.
After clicking on this, it will list.
Display Output : (View Machine name is add_to_cart)
views-view.tpl.php, views-view--add-to-cart.tpl.php, views-view--default.tpl.php, views-view--default.tpl.php, views-view--page.tpl.php, views-view--add-to-cart--page.tpl.php
So, could you please suggest which files should be best for creation of the Display Output template of the view page ?
If you want specific theming to your page display of add_to_cart view, then choose
to override views-view--add-to-cart--page.tpl.php.
I'll also want to add the importance of naming convention for templates, so that, next time, you can choose the template name yourself:
views-view.tpl.php: called for every view.
views-view--add-to-cart.tpl.php: called for only add_to_cart view.
views-view--default.tpl.php: called for the display: default(master display) of every view.
views-view--page.tpl.php: called for the display: page of every view.
views-view--add-to-cart--page.tpl.php: called for the display: page of only add_to_cart view. (the specific suggestions are always last)
Note:
Template naming suggestion flow: general to specific.
Also when you click the display output, you can copy the code for the template. This way you get all the variables that are available to you.
Hope this help else comment for queries.
Understanding how default, page comes in template names:
Within a view, you can create many displays as shown below.
Each display has a Machine Name, for eg: System display has a machine name: system_1. So, a view with system_1 display will be overrided using views-view--system-1.tpl.php. Note: the underscore('_') is replaced with hyphen('-'). The by default view display or master display in a view has a machine name: default.
In Sitecore MVC, FieldRenderer.Render(Item, "Field Name") automatically checks its field type. In another word, all XSLT extensions (sc:text, sc:image, sc:date, …) is affected by the RenderField pipeline.
But, I couldn't find sc:checkbox information and it doesn't show "CheckBox" in page edit mode. It just shows the value of the check box.
How can I make it show as like input type=checkbox in page editor?
Sorry for the link only answer but the general approach here is to use a Field Editor Button.
This will open a pop up window with the content editor style control for the field.
If using a custom experience button is not an option for you, you can output different markup (i.e. your input button) to the client when the page mode is in 'Edit' mode.
This will allow you to present the author with the controls you wish to display, but still output the normal output values for end users.
If you are able to use controller renderings, you can use the controller to load a different view to make this easier, but otherwise you can use if statements within your View to output different markup.
I want to list my content categorically within view. The problem is that I want all of it to be filtered through exposed filters.
Here is what Content Type looks like:-
Content Type (MyContent)
Title
Body
Category (it has three categories in it "Category1, Category2 and Category 3". User has to selects one when entering the content)
Now I created a view which lists all of the content linearly (like a normal list) and I have exposed filters on top, which filter the content, but now I am not sure how to proceed when I have to show the content as:-
Any Idea what I should do to achieve this? What should I do in this scenario?
I'll be grateful to you valuable assistance.
Best.
You can group your results together. Under the Format option in views next to your format type (unformatted list, etc...) click on Settings.
In this menu you'll see "Grouping field" this will allow you to specify on which fields your results should be grouped. The field needs to already be included in your display.
Once you enable this you'll probably notice that that field is now displayed twice. You can just go into that field and check "Exclude from Display"
I developed a content type of "sale car". Now I'm developing its view to display a brief list of Car Ads with some basic fields (car, model, color, price, link to full ad) inline of each other like this:
BMW, 120 d $X,xxx,xxx.xx
Royal Blue, Automatic, View Ad
I'm wondering how can I achieve this style? What style format I should use: Table, Grid or something else? Or do I need to get it done through coding?
You want to create a view that is a list of fields.
Once you've got this, add the relevant fields into the view and you should be done.
Choose the relevant format from the format link, check the preview and you should have your view.
To create the view structure:
Node 1 Node 2
Field 1 Field 2 Field 1 Field 2
Field 3 Field 4 Field 3 Field 4
Add all four fields to the view. On each one select "exclude from view". At the bottom of the field list, add a new "custom text" field.
Do exclude this one from the view though, that's important.
Go into the custom field and in the textarea you can enter HTML code and use the replacement patterns to output the field.
For example:
<h2>[title]</h2>
<ul>
<li>[field_one_name]</li>
<li>[field_two_name]</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>[field_three_name]</li>
<li>[field_four_name]</li>
</ul>
Get the name's from the Replacement Patterns box under the textarea.
Then select whatever format you think is right. I think you're after a grid.
Drupal provides a way to style the view.
Go to your view.
Click on 'Advanced' link at right side.
Click on link after the label 'Theme'.
You will get the list of templates used to style the view.
Create your own template with one of the given name in the list for
specific fields. e.g. views-view--VIEWNAME.tpl.php
You will get the view of your own style.
This is how the Drupal views styling works. :)
Styling views in Drupal 7:
Add field(which to display) and check the option "Exclude from display".
Now go to "Rewrite Results" and check the option "Rewrite the output of this field"
and below there is a section called "Replacement patterns" where all the added
fields appear as a variable(saying variable just for easy understanding)
Like :
[title] == Content:
Title[field_event_date] == Content:
Event Date[body] == Content:
Body[body-value] == Raw value
Above there is a text ares called "Text" where you can customise your style
for this field(Not good practice follow step 4 for better)and clicl "Apply All".
Now add one more field(this is an extra field) called "Global: Custom text"
DO NOT check "Exclude from display" and below text area called "TEXT"is
the area where we will be writing our HTML codes for styling the views
using all the fields which are avalable as token here under the option
"Replacement patterns".
Click on the "Apply All", And YES its done.So simple and cool na??
I need to place a ComboBox in a place where I have very limited space. Is there any way to show content for the SelectedItem in the ComboBox that is different than the content that is displayed for the item in the ComboBox's Popup?
As an example, Firefox does this with it's Site Search box in the top right of the browser. When you open the dropdown, the site names are displayed along with their respective logos, but when a site is selected, only the icon is displayed.
UPDATE: Solution found :-)
I found a solution at this site:
http://blogs.windowsclient.net/airborneengineer/archive/2009/06/25/wpf-styles-and-templates-part-ii-combobox-customization.aspx
I just needed to modify the "DisplayImageWithText" DataTemplate to only show the field I want.
Yes, have 2 sets of data and change the display member column of the combobox - according to the position. as long as the value is the same, it will work good, and you'll get 2 displays out of the same combo-box.
