JSF 2 application with markup content stored in a database - database

I am developing a JSF 2 application which requires markup content to be stored in a database and modified on the fly. I need some advice on how to achieve this.
I want to store some page templates (not all) in a database and have them loaded from the database rather than the exploded war file.
I have written my own custom resolver based on this post and can successfully load templates from a specific location on the local file system, but I need to extend this to read from the Database.
BalusC mentioned using a custom URLStreamHandlerFactory and URLStreamHandler implementation to perform the actual job of streaming from the DB, which could well be the right approach but I am not sure how to do this?
If anyone has an example, or could point me in the right direction, it would be most appreciated.

Need to Create Form that saves data to DB and PDF to a directory

The title says it all. I need to create a form that the user fills in and on submit, I want the data to go to a database and a PDF to a directory on the server.
I don't think AngularJS can do all of these things, can it? I'm very new to programming -- trying to crossover from HTML/CSS/JS to more in-depth projects.
Can anyone please suggest the best course for this? What language for the form, writing to the DB and generating a PDF? I can do the rest of the research and build it out once I have some direction.
How would you go about achieving this?

All you need is to apply the paradigm Client / Server.
With angular.js you can build the client software for handling the form but this is not necessary...
With a single script php you can generate the page with the form and handling the incoming data.

How to design permissions and conditional loading in extjs

Background
I have to migrte a existing javascript application (one page app) to extjs. The display and behavior of the application depends on the users permission.
Current design
The application is divided into plugins, which represent a feature set to which permissions are granted. Each of those plugins consists of a single javascript file. A user can have permissions for one or more plugins. Depending on the permissions, those files are loaded in the head of the page. Each of these plugins will add its entries to the main menu and expose the methods used to drive the application.
The permissions are stored in a mysql database.
ExtJs's default design
In ExtJs the source files contain each a class. During the build process, all .js files are concatenated to yield one big .js file, that contains everything.
What would be the best design approach?
I considered to use custom compilation with sencha cmd, and create that way a .js file for each plugin. Then I could load these plugins the same way I do it now. But this results in a complicated build and deployment process.
I also thought about creating one and only .js file with a standard Ext build process. I would then load the permissions from the server via ajax in order to construct the menu. All the objects and methods would exist, but only those are accessible where the user has permissions.
In my opinion, the second approach is much easier maintainable, but it seens to have a security problem, because everyone could look at the source and find out about the data interfaces exposed on the server and consumed by ajax.

Number two would be the way to go. If you keep your server side permissions in check (while updating data etc) you only need ExtJS to show/hide menu items based on permissions. That way, malicious users can turn certain plugins/items on or off, but they can never execute something that requires more permissions then they would normally have.

Programmatically accessing excel files located on salesforce

I am new to the salesforce platform.The task im working on involves some excel files on salesforce. I have to write a program to analyze the data in these excel files and generate a report.I have the following questions about doing this
Do i need to programmatically download these excel files locally to my machine ?. If yes, what api should i use for this ?. An example would be really appreciated.
Is this something that can be done directly on salesforce ?

You have a mutltitude of choices, If you're using .NET or Java, you probably want to start with the soap API, you can run a SOQL query to access the Body field of the document object (I'm assuming you're storing these in documents). The SOAP API docs have examples for this. For other languages you'll probably want to start with the REST API, you'll be able to access the body resource of your document and get back the binary stream, again, good examples in the docs.

creating a video database

I am interested in creating a video databse. My goal is to have a folder where my videos will be kept and each time I copy/delete a video the website that presents them should be updated to. the problem is I have no idea how to approach it.
Should I..
Use Sql and store a reference to each video location?
Have a script that checks all the time if new changes happen in that folder?
A package like joomla?

You should make a db (format does not matter) and storing in it only file names of videos: the videos would be stored on hard drive.
Any operation on the web site will pass first on db for insert/update/delete videos records and then (maybe in a transaction context) on the file system.

How do I create a database on the computer in flash?

I want to create a a application in actionscipt 3.0 that allows the user to listen to music and read descriptions of the music. For this to happen i suppose there should be a database where the textbits and music is located and then flash fetch the info when the correct buttons are pushed. The database will contain up to 100 tracks and textbits.
The application will function on a stand that won't have a connection to the internet.
What is the easiest way to do this in actionscript 3.0?

The easiest way to do what you're asking is probably to store the files in a directory on the machine the application is going to be running on, and then design an XML structure for storing your data. The XML is easily loaded in to Flash at runtime and is easily edittable.
Your other option would be running a database server on the machine, creating web services that run locally and push/pull the data from the database, and then call those services from your Flash application.
The first option is most definitely the easiest and should be able to provide exactly what you need. The second would be more geared towards a distributed Flash application where you needed a central data repository for the clients.
If you're building an AIR application, you can use the integrated SQLITE database. But, i agree with Justin, the easiest way is to use a XML file.
You can probably consider using "Local Shared Objects" which is a kind of cookie, with bigger capacity (100Kb by default, but you can change it). Compared to other solutions already proposed, it has then advantage of not requiring any web server.
