SQL Server 2008 R2 installation error - sql-server

I am struggling since yesterday regarding the error, first my SSMS expired for some reason & I was not able to get it working. I was not able to unistall all the software related to SQL Server & it shared components, I was removing it successfully & I was getting the same error after reinstalling SQL Server 2008 R2 Express & SSMS : your trial version has expired.
At last I messed up everything by forcing SQL Server & its component when I removed it with CCleaner as suggested in one of the article.
An now I am not able to install any version of SQL Server whether it be SQL Server 2008, SQL SErver 2008 Express or SQL Server 2008 R2 Express edition I get following message for all the version as show here:
I am not sure what to do either I reinstall windows 7 or try to search further for solution which I would prefer as I had several software installed on my system & it will take me day or so to install all software.
I would appreciate help regarding this

The one thing that i know is that even when you install any type of program it creates registry entries. Sometimes keys are kept there or in a log file. Uninstalling the program will do you no good if you were running a trial version of SQL-Server. you will have to delete the directories out of ProgramFiles on your local hdd and also out of the registry. This has been a workaround for me for all trial version programs that i have ever installed. when deleting from the registry be careful that you don't delete something that you are not suppose too. Otherwise a format should be in order. Running something as administrator as far as I know does not solve this problem. Unless proof can be provided.
Also on a side note. before uninstalling SQL-Server you must stop the instances for it to delete all components related to SQL

Moving SQL Server 2019 database to another computer (sector size cause crash) [duplicate]

I can't install SQL Server 2019 on my Windows 11 machine, because it fails to start Database Engine Services and I do not understand why. This is my personal computer and I have full access and all permissions to it.
I know this error is posted all over the internet and I've seen a few on StackOverflow already, however no solution what so ever I could find anywhere helped me solve this issue.
Installation failure screenshot
I've spent quite a few hours trying multiple tutorials online but I feel like I've reached a dead end. In my desperation I've even tried to reinstall windows to no avail.
I hope my explanation was clear enough even though I'm almost falling asleep because I stayed up so late trying to fix this. Thank you very much for your help and I can provide more logs or information on what I've tried or not.
Edit : as suggested in the comments, I've checked sector sizes with the command prompt, and this is the output, it is not the expected value indeed :
C:\WINDOWS\system32>fsutil fsinfo sectorinfo C:

The issue is with Windows 11 and NVMe drives having bigger partitions than SQL can support. You can check that by doing "fsutil fsinfo sectorinfo C:" in an admin Command Prompt (C: here being the NVMe drive that we are trying to install SQL onto) and looking at the PhysicalBytesPerSectorForAtomicity" value. It should be 512 or 4096.
Different solutions in this article (be careful, a few solutions require modifying the registry, make sure to back it up before doing so): https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/sql/admin/troubleshoot-os-4kb-disk-sector-size#cause
The article lists a few solutions. You can also install SQL on another drive that has the correct partition sizes supported by SQL (512 or 4096).
Had the above-mentioned problems installing SQL2019 on Windows 11 even with PhysicalBytesPerSectorForAtomicity=4096. The only way I managed to overcome it is by installing(the latest SQL Server2022 Express but it should work also for 2019 as suggested by others) on a newly created VHD drive. Here are the detailed steps to create one(same for Windows 11 too): https://www.windowscentral.com/how-create-and-set-vhdx-or-vhd-windows-10
Played a bit with the connection configurations and managed to run it successfully.
Good luck!✌️
This problem is because Windows 11 is not compatible with SQL Server 2019. You will have to enable Windows 10 compatability:
The value of PhysicalBytesPerSectorForAtomicity is your problem. You should run this command:
fsutil fsinfo sectorinfo <your drive name>
E.g. fsutil fsinfo sectorinfo E:
Should it be other than 512 or 4096, you should run this command:
REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\stornvme\Parameters\Device" /v "ForcedPhysicalSectorSizeInBytes" /t REG_MULTI_SZ /d "* 4095" /f
Restart your computer and reinstall SQL server.
Follow this steps exactly https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssms/download-sql-server-management-studio-ssms?redirectedfrom=MSDN&view=sql-server-ver16
If you had already tried installing Microsoft SQL Server, make sure its deleted correctly from all locations.
Control Panel > Uninstall apps > All "Microsoft SQL"
Registry Editor > HKEY LOCAL MACHINE > SOFTWARE > MICROSOFT > MICROSOFT SQL (Delete file)
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server - delete file
C:\Program Files (X86)\Microsoft SQL Server - delete file
Clear trash and restart pc and run setup, should work

Exit code 3010 installing SQL Server using Vagrant

I am using Vagrant to provision a Windows 10 VM with SQL Server 2016 via PowerShell and I suddenly started getting exit code 3010 (computer restart required) after many successful installs without it.
Why would it suddenly start happening? Doesn't Vagrant always use a brand new copy of my VM every time so that it is consistent?
Vagrant 2.2.4
Box: StefanScherer/windows_10 (Windows 10 with nothing on it)
SQL Server 2016 install EXE sourced from the ISO from Microsoft website

I've already had probably 50 successful installs of SQL Server on the VM. This has just started happening. Each successful install is after I vagrant destroy -f and vagrant up.

The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion, when installing SQL Server 2017 Express on a VPS through RDC

I'm trying to install SQL Server 2017 Express Edition on a Windows Server 2016 VPS through a remote desktop connection, using the web installer locally on the virtual machine. To my knowledge, all of the hardware and software requirements are satisfied.
I'm running the installation as the local Administrator account with full access. During installation I select "Default instance" rather than "Named instance" because I want to be able to connect using '.' or 'localhost', everything else is left default.
The installation completes with status "Failed" for the features Full-Text and Semantic Extractions for Search, Python, R, Machine Learning Services, Database Engine Services and SQL Server Replications, all of which log the following error:
The following error has occurred:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
The Windows Application log contains the following error:
Windows cannot access the file for one of the following reasons: there is a problem with the network connection, the disk that the file is stored on, or the storage drivers installed on this computer; or the disk is missing. Windows closed the program SQL Server Windows NT - 64 Bit because of this error.
On the surface it seems like it may be the same issue as this SO question about SQL Server 2016. The accepted answer there is to add the SQLRUserGroup to "Allow log on locally" in Local Security Policy and selecting the Re-try option. However, the SQL Server 2017 installer that I'm using does not offer this option. It can only be closed at this point. The only way to retry installation seems to be to uninstall the failed features, which also removes the MSSQLSERVER accounts and the SQLRUserGroup, and then go through the whole installation process again.
I have tried to completely uninstall and reinstall with no success. SQL Server 2016 has the same issue.
Below is the full log spit out by the installer

For anyone else having this particular issue, my solution was to download a new ISO from Microsoft. Appears that at some point my ISO was corrupted. New ISO worked perfectly.
I discovered that I would repeatedly get this error when attempting to install MSSQL 2016 SP1 or SP2 on Windows Server 2012 R2 With latest updates as of OCT 2018.
0x84BB0001 A connection was successfully established with the server,
but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: SSL
Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)
Solution:
Re-enable TLS1.0 and attempt to install again.
(We recently disabled TLS 1.0 on our Windows Server 2012R2 template.)
- You can check if TLS1.0 is disabled and enable it using IISCrypto Tool.

Reporting Services Configuration Manager User does not have permission to perform this action

I am trying to connect the Reporting Services Configuration Manager installed on my application server to a ReportServer database located on another server.
I am using a domain account, to connect Reporting Services Configuration Manager to the database.
the domain account has the following permissions on these databases:
public and RSExecRole roles for the ReportServer database.
RSExecRole role for the master, msdb, and ReportServerTempDB databases.
futhermore the domain account has db owner permissions on ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB
In the Database Server section I specify the sql server\instance and use Current User- Integrated Security. I am logged in as the domain user that I want to use to connect to the database. The username also shows this particular user which is correct. Test Connection is successful
In the Database section I select the ReportServer
In the Credentials section I tried Authentication Type both as Service Credentials and Windows Credentials but they both result in the same error below.
The error happens during Applying connection rights.

The very bottom of this link says you also need db_owner on master and MSDB
http://answers.flyppdevportal.com/categories/sqlserver/sqlreportingservices.aspx?ID=21cdcb58-2348-451c-b51a-3d55167f9be2
To paraphrase the link:
What stands out is “No DSN present in configuration file” so I created
a System DSN and got the same results. I then went to the
rsreportserver.config file and manually entered the DSN. This showed
up in the log:
"FailedToDecryptConfigInformationException: The encrypted value for
the " Dsn" configuration setting cannot be decrypted"
So it appears that Reporting Services has to encrypt the DSN and save
it in the file.
I searched other sites and found people who had the “No DSN present in
configuration file” message because they did not create create the
database using the Report Server Configuration Manager. Creating the
database should input the DSN info in the rsreportserver.config file.
However, it is not doing so in this case.
I believe this is a case of running into Kerberos Authentication constraints. You'd have to modify the first computer's Delegation records in Active Directory to make it a trusted server. Once that happens, it should allow it to pass on the user's authentication. I don't have domain admin rights to our server so I haven't been able to try it myself, but I have bumped into this same issue a few times.
Edit: Another option may be to allow SQL Server Authentication and create a user account in SQL Server. Then you'll be able to bypass the Kerberos restraints and SQL Server can pass the login.
It could also be that the Reporting Services database is down.
Have you accidentally detatched what you thought was an old or temporary database, but it turns out to be part of the SQL Server environment?
Check that ReportSever and ReportSeverTempDB are both attached in SQL Server and running.
