Salesforce: Picklist(multiple) with dynamic value - salesforce

I have add custom field to Account with picklist(multiple) in Salesforce. But the values of picklist should be dynamically generated from other object. If not, is it possible to push values in picklist from native app(which is written in ruby)?

I dont think the standard controller supports dynamically adding the possible picklist (select list) values.
What you could do is add a text field instead of a picklist and create a custom page with visualforce. Use the standard controller with an extension for your code.
Create a new custom object for holding picklist values for a field (could be reused for other fields). Populate it with the possible picklist values.
In the page controller, load the values for that field.
In visualforce, display a picklist for the custom field and load the values from the controller.
Add an extra input field for manual insertion if desired.
On save, insert the value of the picklist (or input box) into the custom field.
A more detailed guide can be found here

Why dont't you use a normal SelectOption List in Apex?
public List<SelectOption> getMyPicklist()
{
List<SelectOption> options = new List<SelectOption>();
List<Account> acc = [ Select Id, Name From Account Limit 10 ];
for(Account a : acc){
options.add(new SelectOption(a.Id,a.Name));
}
return options;
}

I had to update picklist with values from my database (and not from some visualforce page). So I authenticated account using Databasedotcom gem and it provides nice Api to iteract with Salesforce Objects (both Standard and Custom).
client.authenticate :token => "my-oauth-token", :instance_url => "http://na1.salesforce.com" #=> "my-oauth-token"
account = client.materialize("Account")
account_to_be_updated = account.find(account_id) # here account is same as Instance of Activerecord
account_to_be_updated.my_picklist = [value1; value2; value3; value4]
account_to_be_updated.save

Drupal7: real time link selected field to a text field in Drupal7

I'm creating a webform to build up a subscription form, on Drupal 7.65
Goal
What I need to do is: to select a role from a list, and automatically to display the associated name of that role, in a text field.
As I said, the name should be displayed into a not modifiable text field just below it.
Suppose valid, the following list (key => value)
Field: Department
business_manager|Business Manager
hr_consultant|Human Resources
training_developer|Training Developer
and from the time going on, the associated names, are respectively
Options can appear into text field hr_business_partner
Steve Abc
Gertrude Def
Sven Hgj Klm
Thus when the trainee selects "Human Resources", the name of "Gertrude Def" should appear into the text field below the select one.
I've attached a mokup to better understand what I do need.
IMPORTANT
I can't put the names into the list as value, because the association can change but old records should keep the previously registered associations
You can use hook_form_alter() and add a new select field with the paired key value list you need to the webform. And then use javascript to update which field value gets shown in the HR Business Partner field on change, which by the way would also need to be added via your hook_form_alter. You could use a taxonomy to maintain a list of Departments/Business partners which would populate your department and business partners.
Write some javascript to dynamically update your original fields not added through the form_alter, on change. I would suggest making two textfields in your webform components which will hold the value from your form alter added fields. So that these values selected by the user gets saved in your form.
function MODULENAME_form_alter(&$form, &$form_state, $form_id) {
if($form_id == "webform_client_form_####"){
$form['#attached']['js'] = array(drupal_get_path('module','MODULENAME') . '/js/webform.js');
$form['hr_dept'] = array(
"#type" => "select",
"#options" => array("business_manager"=>"Business Manager", "hr_consultant"=>"Human Resources"),
);
$partners = taxonomy_get_tree(#); //the VID of the taxonomy
$list = array("0"=>"None"); //first option
foreach($partners as $tid => $partner){
$list[$partner->tid] = $partner->name;
}
$form['hr_partner'] = array(
'#type' => 'select',
'#options' => $list,
);
}
}
In your javascript file, /js/webform.js you can include all your logic to check for which value is selected on the Department field and then display the correct value in the Partners fields. At the same time, updating the original fields you've added as textfields in the webform components UI.

How to apply a condition to a specific table in every request on Entity Framework?

I have a many-to-many structure mapped to entity framework. This is a sample of what it looks like:
User UserTag Tag
------- -------- -------
IdUser(PK) IdUserTag(PK) IdTag(PK)
Name IdUser(FK) TagName
Desc IdTag(FK) Active
Now, I needed to exclude from any request of any method the viewing of Tags that were Active=false.
First, I tried doing it manually in every method, like:
public User GetById(int id)
{
var item = UserRepository.GetById(id); //This is just a repository that calls the EF context
//EF automatically maps it to the *UserTags* property
foreach(var tag in item.UserTags)
{
if(tag.Tag.Active == false)
item.UserTags.Remove(tag);
}
}
But it throws the following exception:
The relationship could not be changed because one or more of the foreign-key properties is non-nullable
So, I wanted to know if there's a way to conditionaly filter every request made to a specific table, whether it is select or a join request.
Try this in your GetById method:
var user.UserTags = dbContext.Entry(user)
.Collection(u => u.UserTags)
.Query()
.Where(ut => ut.Active == true)
.ToList();
The supplied code fails because it is attempting to remove items from the data entities not the list. If you want to pass the data entity around instead of the data model, you need to not use Remove. Something like the below (untested should work).
tags = item.UserTags.Where((ut) => ut.Active).ToList();
This line will get you a list of data entities that are active. However, you should really map all of this into a data model (see AutoMapper) and then you would not be removing items from the database.

setWhatId in salesforce using email template

i have to send an email to a user in salesforce using email template.this template contain merge field type of custom object.
Messaging.SingleEmailMessage mail = new Messaging.SingleEmailMessage();
mail.setTargetObjectId(user.get(0).id);
mail.setTargetObjectId(user.get(0).Id)
mail.setTemplateId(specifier.get(0).Template_id__c);
mail.saveAsActivity = false;
mail.setWhatId(custom_object.Id);
i read in documentation
If you specify a contact for the targetObjectId field, you can specify a whatId as well. This helps to further ensure that merge fields in the template contain the correct data. The value must be one of the following types:
Account
Asset
Campaign
Case
Contract
Opportunity
Order
Product
Solution
Custom
but if we are sending email to a user not to contact then how to assign a custom object for merge field type in custom objects as in the above code
This is a GIGANTIC whole in their email methods, and one that has annoyed me for years. Particularly given workflow email alerts seem to have no problem sending an email template for a user. Alas, you can't use setWhatId() if your target is a user. But you can vote for them to add that functionality,
I've worked around this I typically create a contact with the same name and email as the user, use it to send the email, and then delete it. This works well, although dealing with validation rules on the contact object can be a challenge. See their dev boards for a full discussion.
You can get the template and replace the merge fields as follows:
EmailTemplate template = [SELECT Id, Subject, HtmlValue, Body FROM EmailTemplate WHERE Name = 'Case Update'];
Case modifiedCase = [SELECT Account.Id, Account.Name, Owner.FirstName, Owner.LastName, CaseNumber, Subject, LastModifiedBy.FirstName, LastModifiedBy.LastName from Case where Id=:modifiedCaseId];
String subject = template.Subject;
subject = subject.replace('{!Case.Account}', modifiedCase.Account.Name);
subject = subject.replace('{!Case.CaseNumber}', modifiedCase.CaseNumber);
subject = subject.replace('{!Case.Subject}', modifiedCase.Subject);
String htmlBody = template.HtmlValue;
htmlBody = htmlBody.replace('{!Case.Account}', modifiedCase.Account.Name);
htmlBody = htmlBody.replace('{!Case.OwnerFullName}', ownerFullName);
...
Messaging.SingleEmailMessage email = new Messaging.SingleEmailMessage();
email.setSubject(subject);
email.setHtmlBody(htmlBody);
Messaging.sendEmail(new Messaging.SingleEmailMessage[] {email});
As far as no new fields are added in the template this will work fine. The admin can mess with the format of the email without the need for code changes.
Not sure this is possible to do, but it depends on the relationship between your custom object and your users that will be receiving the merged emails. Do you have a 1-to-1 relationship between User and CustomObject? If so, perhaps adding a reference to the single custom object instance that each user object references and then adding custom formula fields on your user object with CustomObject__r.CustomField__c would do the trick.
In a custom formula field on your User object:
TEXT(CustomObject__r.CustomField__c)
Then your template could be changed into a User template and the merge fields would be the formula fields that actually pointed to your custom object instance. But if you have some other relationship like 1-to-many or many-to-many between User and CustomObject__c, I think you're out of luck.

Drupal 7 load profile2 programmatically

I have two profile2 profiles defined - main and customer_profile. Also, I have a node type called Customer.
When creating a new Customer node, I would like to load the custom_profile form. The idea is to create a node and a profile simultaneously.
I know it's definately a hook_form_alter solution but can someone tell me how to programmatically load a profile while creating or editing a Customer node.
You can load profile type and data by using these function
$types = profile2_get_types();
profile2_load_by_user($account, $type_name = NULL)
For Example :
$types = profile2_get_types();
if (!empty($types)) {
foreach ($types as $type) {
$profile = profile2_load_by_user($uid, $type->type);
}
}
Even if you are able to load the customer_profile form, you will need to handle the values separately as they are two different nodes.
I would suggest capturing those fields in the customer node form, and then create a customer_profile programmatically from the values.
If you want to get the profile2 form itself then you can use something like
module_load_include('inc', 'profile2_page', 'profile2_page');
$profile2 = profile2_by_uid_load($uid, 'seeker_profile');
$entity_form = entity_ui_get_form('profile2', $profile2, 'edit');
and then add that to the form you want to place it in.
You can load full profile data using profile2_load_by_user();
params like:-
profile2_load_by_user($account,$type_name)
$account: The user account to load profiles for, or its uid.
$type_name: To load a single profile, pass the type name of the profile to load
So code like bellow
$account->uid = $existingUser->uid;
$type_name = 'user_about';
$profile = profile2_load_by_user($account, $type_name);
//$profile variable have full data of profile fields
//changing data profile2 fields
if(isset($_POST['field_user_first_name'])&& !empty($_POST['field_user_first_name'])){
$profile->field_user_first_name['und'][0]['value'] = $_POST['field_user_first_name'];
}
profile2_save($profile);
Well When creating a new Profile , Profile2 fields are not visible until a manual save is done.
To Automatically create the profile2 object , We use rules Module
Step
1) Go to Drupal admin/config/workflow/rules
2) create new rule
3) Give a name and Select in react/event "After saving a new user account"
4) Action,>> Add Action >> Execute custom PHP code
5) insert php code
$profile = profile_create(array('type' => 'profile2 type machine name', 'uid' => $account->uid));
profile2_save($profile);
6)Save >> Save changes.
This will create profile2 field when a new user is Created.
I had a similar need for creating a custom tab at the user page and loading the user profile2 form in it.
Here is a snap code of how I managed to accomplish just that:
MYMODULE.module https://gist.github.com/4223234
MYMODULE_profile2_MYPROFILE2TYPE.inc https://gist.github.com/4223201
Hope it helps.

Zend Many to Many Relationship

I want to retrieve all the data from 3 tables
users , properties and users_properties.
So I decided I would use the manytomanyRowset. But to my surprise I get the data from the properties and users_properties table but no data from the users table. Why is that? I need some columns from the users table is there a way to tell the manytomanyrowset function that I need the data from the current table as well?
this is my function
public function fetchRegisteredProperties()
{
$userTable = $this->getTable();
require_once APPLICATION_PATH . '/models/DbTable/UsersPropertiesDB.php';
require_once APPLICATION_PATH . '/models/DbTable/PropertiesDB.php';
$propertiesRowset = $table->fetchAll();
$allProperties = array();
foreach ($propertiesRowset as $row) {
$propertiesRowset = $row->findManyToManyRowset(
'Model_DbTable_Properties','Model_DbTable_UsersProperties');
$allProperties = array_merge($tempArray,$propertiesRowset->toArray());
}
return $allProperties;
}
thanks in adavance
I designed and coded the table-relationships features in Zend Framework.
The answer to your question is no, the findManyToManyRowset() method only fetches rows from the related table, it does not merge them into the corresponding Row object. The reason is that a Row object in ZF can save() itself back to the database, and if you add fields it won't know what to do with them.
So you should implement a custom Row object to hold both user fields and the collection of user properties -- store the user properties as a Rowset object.
Then extend __get() and __set() so that it knows how to map fields into the correct array when you read or write object properties. That is, if one tries to read or write a field that isn't part of the user row, it falls back to the user properties Rowset.
Also extend save() to save not only the current row, but also call save() on the Rowset of user properties.
