I would like to know if there's a substitute for Visual FoxPro. The last version is 9.0. With the language FoxPro 3.0 so, I was wondering of someone knows a language similar to FoxPro with a development environment similar to Visual FoxPro 9.0. I know there's dBase but I don't know if it's powerful enough like FoxPro and I also know xHarbour but I haven't tried it.

I hear Servoy is one of the platforms VFP developers are moving towards. And it's either free or inexpensive. Check out http://www.servoy.com/

Lianja App Builder has a high degree of compatibility with Visual FoxPro.

Unfortunately there are is not a similar programing language to Visual FoxPro. FoxPro was one and still is one of the best programming languages out there. You can still use Version 9 with SP2 but there will be no 64 bit support in the last version. It will run on all windows platforms in 32 bit just fine. If you are looking to convert your current version of Visual FoxPro I found Servoy.
You can check these links about FoxPro conversion into Servoy.

First what do you mean by 'substitute for VFP'? Are you just looking for a rapid application development tool?
I don't know about everyone else in the VFP world, but I still develop using VFP 9 and my products run under all versions of Windows; however, I'm migrating most of my stuff to Visual Studio using C# and .NET.
You're not going to find anything that mimics VFP (at least not that I'm aware of)

Alpha5 V11 has some similarities to VFP.
I am also looking for something like a VFP replacement and so far I only see lianja and maybe embarcadero as possibilities.

I do not think this is quite the equivalent to VFP but I did see a product called Suneido which appears to be a similar product to MS Access and or VFP. I have not tried to use this but if anyone has it might be good to hear about.

I will be given a job offer by an IT company, and was asked to "look at" PL/SQL since I didn't have much experience with databases. I have an extensive background in C++ among other programming languages, so I don't think this will pose too much of a challenge. However, I don't have access to any Oracle database at home, so I was wondering if there is a "toy" database and terminal online where I can practice.
Register yourself an account at APEX ONLINE you have all of the tools for free available online, or simple download Oracle Database 10g Express Edition
I would suggest a higher priority would be to learn the Relational model of data, then SQL.
If you don't start with a solid understanding of the RM, you're more likely to tend to use procedural solutions where a set-based approach is better.
Go and get the Express version of the database server Here
As for learning PL/SQL start
here
You just download sql developer tool by using this link..do practice well.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html?ssSourceSiteId=ocomen
There is another site where you can practice PL/SQL online:
http://www.tutorialspoint.com/oracle_terminal_online.php
Oracle have some VM images with Oracle Linux ready-to-run:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/linux/downloads/vm-for-hol-1896500.html (64bits VM)
To learn PL/SQL language you just need a text editor like atom or sublime text. You can also install MySQL.

Is there a free code formatter available for TSQL - SQL Server 2005/2008. I found few most of which asks to copy paste code online in an applet. I am looking for a desktop version. Tried toad for sql server but formatting is not supported in freeware.
If anyone has any work-around please share it.
I've been working on a formatter for the past few months, I just release the official version v1.0, with no (major) known issues.
It's available for immediate online use at http://poorsql.com, and the project with SSMS Add-In, command-line formatter ready-to-download is available at http://www.architectshack.com/PoorMansTSqlFormatter.ashx.
I know it's been a long while since this question was posted, but I'd love any sort of feedback.
(Edit: updated status)
Check out the SSMS Tools Pack (free addon for SSMS).
One of the features is formatting (http://www.ssmstoolspack.com/Features?f=3), though I don't know what level you want your SQL formatted - maybe you could clarify?
SQLISE has a formating function, you can set a number of formatting options. It is free. It is a codeplex project based on PowerShell.
Drawback it removes all comments

This online tool does excellent sql formatting.

Background:
I worked a lot with C#.Net in the last years (Visual Studio).
At the moment I am on a project for iPhones, I use the iTunes MobileDevice.dll and have a lot of reference code in C.
I try to give my best to do it in C#.Net but I give up now and like to change to C.
So I will now rebuild my C#.Net Code, its a WinForm Project with a lots of events and so on.
Now I search the best IDE, I tried Eclipse but as far as I see there is no WinForm Visual-thing I can use, or? Ideas?
There is no such thing as WinForms for C, nothing even close as far as I know.
However, C++/CLI might be what you are looking for. Because it is c++ it can easily interoperate with C libraries, and because it is also .Net is can interoperate with .Net libraries (like those that comprise WinForms).
Some other Stackoverflow questions have addressed this and their answers are informative:
How to use C++/CLI to program Winforms applications
Can I use C++/CLI (.NET Winforms/WPF ) to provide GUI for app written in native C & C++
If you go the C++/CLI route, Visual Studio will likely be the best visual IDE.

Before going into production, our client demands actual numbers of how many users our web application can handle.
We have all kinds of features implemented including asset management (file uploads/downloads), documents import/export, various statistics, web-services etc.
I guess we need tool which could emulate users form submission because documents import/export as far as I noticed is the slowest part of an app because of parsing and generation.
Which tool (or set of tools) could do this?
Application details:
XHTML/jQuery
Coldfusion 8
SQL Server 2008
Windows Server 2008
I like jMeter - free software and does the job quite well.
Few intro screencasts:
http://www.fosscasts.com/screencasts/3-Load-Testing-with-Apache-JMeter
http://vimeo.com/10164982
HPs Open Source HTTPerf I like. Just setup the URLS you want to test and let it rip. use a couple of machines to emulate load. You could even parse the output into a DB and do some number crunching.
Also, think about doing HTTPerf runs with profiling on the server side to see what lags and what doesnt. A nice touch is to let a user go on the app, and record all POST/GET requests and use them as a replay set for typical user interactions.
Also, if you are thinking about UX, use firebug or something to check JS imports are being done asynchronously instead of one-at-a-time. Have a ganders at Stackoverflow question 310583/loading-javascript-dependencies-on-demand

WebLoad: Professional and open
source load testing from
CFMeetup
Visual Studio Ultimate edition has great load/stress testing tools, although the ultimate edition can be a bit expensive.
m using Full version of JBlitz Professional 5.0 ..
it's very good
There are few analytical performance tool out in market(not free) one i came through and works well is New Relic. If you are looking only to test the api then http://locust.io/ is good one and free too.

I am looking for a good Integrated development environment for developing applictaions in C language for both windows and linux.
IDE should have:
good interface,
easy file management,
auto filling and
any advanced options.
Tell me which IDE you most admire for these tasks
For general PC application development
For embedded application development in C
If you think it is more specific question then you may also take it as a general case.
Thanks in advance.
For general PC development - Microsoft Visual Studio + VisualAssist
For large-scale development you can hardly find anything better than Source Insight
If you need a cross-platform IDE have a look at Eclipse CDT
For both purposes I'd suggest Eclipse.
I'd describe Visual Studio as the most feature rich and comfortable place to be when writing and debugging code, but it has a narrow target audience - Windows developers.
As others have said, Eclipse is probably your best bet, The large array of available plugins come in handy too. For example, if you want to move to a new source code repository, the chances are there's an Eclipse plugin already written for it. You don't have that luxury with most other IDEs.
Well when I'm working with C I use Vim, with the right plugins I find it to be the best IDE for C around. It takes a little bit of practice to get used to it but once you do you'll just be flying around your files.
Apart from TextMate on OS X which is more a very featurefull text editor, I'd say NetBeans or Eclipse.
EDIT: yes, if you have a mac, you can do PC development with VMWare/Paralles as easily as you would in a "real" PC and you get OS X as a bonus.
I'd say Eclipse is the best choice.
Eclipse page
Check out Code::Blocks, it's pretty good, does C, and is available for Windows and Linux as requested.
Even if it was developed for JAVA first, I like the NetBeans IDE because it has some nice features and it knows about C, too.
CVS/SVN Plugins are available.
SlickEdit is nice cross-platform IDE with autocomplition, macroses, various text editors emulation mode, refactoring capabilities etc... Commercial though.
There's some good advice on C IDEs here as well: C on Visual Studio
I asked about using C in Visual Studio but the answers contain suggestions on a variety of IDEs
