SelectionBinding for Checkbox in EmberJs - checkbox

Does Emberjs provide selectionBinding for the checkbox to handle selected/checked checkbox options.
If yes, how to do it?

Bind to the checked property of Ember.Checkbox, see http://jsfiddle.net/5pnVg/:
Handlebars:
{{view Ember.Checkbox checkedBinding="App.objController.isChecked" }}
JavaScript:
App.objController = Ember.Object.create({
isChecked: true,
_isCheckedChanged: function(){
var isChecked = this.get('isChecked');
console.log( 'isChecked changed to %#'.fmt(isChecked) );
}.observes('isChecked')
});

Okay, so this is kinda old but I stumbled upon this too. I had my checkbox options delivered to the route's model in an array. The problem really is with achieving two way binding (if this is the goal). This is how I've done it:
App.ItemEditController = Ember.ObjectController.extend({
isRound: function () {
return ( this.get('model.shapes').find(function(item) { return (item === 'round') }) );
}.property('model.shapes'),
isOval: function () {
return ( this.get('model.shapes').find(function(item) { return (item === 'oval') }) );
}.property('model.shapes'),
isIrregular: function () {
return ( this.get('model.shapes').find(function(item) { return (item === 'irregular') }) );
}.property('model.shapes'),
shapes: function () {
var self = this;
['round','oval','irregular'].map(function(item) {
var shapes = self.get('model.shapes');
shapes = shapes.toArray();
if (self.get('is' + item.capitalize())) {
if (shapes.indexOf(item) < 0)
shapes.push(item);
} else {
if (shapes.indexOf(item) >= 0)
shapes.splice(shapes.indexOf(item),1);
}
self.set('model.shapes', shapes);
});
}.observes('isRound', 'isOval', 'isIrregular')
});
So here I've setup the properties to set themselves based on their presence in the model's shapes array and set an observer that checks these properties to resets the model's shapes array if required.
Now in the Item template we can bind to the shapes as we always do (however you do):
Shapes:
{{#each shape in this.shapes}}
<span class="label label-default">{{shape}}</span><br />
{{else}}
No shape selected!
{{/each}}
and in the ItemEdit template we bind to the edit controller's properties:
Shapes:
Round: {{input type="checkbox" checked=isRound}}
Oval: {{input type="checkbox" checked=isOval}}
Irregular: {{input type="checkbox" checked=isIrregular}}
Hope this helps with anyone struggling with this type of manual two way binding and you'll get all your checked options in your model in one go.

Show and Hide a <div> inside an ng-repeat with 'dirPagination' (AngularJS)

In this very site I've seen this question many times, but none of them works for me because of two things: I need the div to toggle when clicking the "options" button, but also to hide when clicking outside of the div; and I need it to work with dirPagination.
I saw this answer, it works fine but with one problem I just can't solve: it shows ALL the hidden divs at the same time, instead of only showing the one I clicked.
Here's my code:
<body ng-controller="MainCtrl">
<!-- pagination -->
<dir-pagination-controls
max-size="7"
direction-links="true"
boundary-links="true">
</dir-pagination-controls>
<ul>
<li dir-paginate="report in reports | itemsPerPage:4">
Options
<h3>{{report.Title}}</h3>
<div class="options" ng-show="dp">
<p>These are some options</p>
</div>
</li>
</ul>
</body>
And the JS to show the options:
//options div
$scope.showOptions = function(event){
if($scope.dp === false || $scope.dp === undefined) {
$scope.dp = true;
event.stopPropagation();
} else {
$scope.dp = false;
}
};
window.onclick = function(){
if($scope.dp){
$scope.dp = false;
$scope.$apply();
}
};
I've made a Plunker in case you wanna se it in action: my Plunker link
Can somebody help me with this issue? :(
Add a new boolean property on your reports array , for example show
var reports = [
{
"ID":1,
"Title":"Report 1",
"Show":false
},
{
"ID":2,
"Title":"Report 2",
"Show":false
}
]
Apply the property in to ng-show and also pass the current report scope object in to showOptions method to write the logic for hide and show.
<li dir-paginate="report in reports | itemsPerPage:4">
Options
<h3>{{report.Title}}</h3>
<div class="options" ng-show="report.Show">
<p>These are some options</p>
</div>
</li>
$scope.showOptions = function(event,report){
report.Show=!report.Show;
/*you can iterate through each reports and change show to false if the clicked report id not equal to report id , Angular JS will automatically update the scope in to the view*/
reports.forEach(function(item, index) {
if (item.ID !== report.ID) {
item.Show = false;
}
});
if($scope.dp === false || $scope.dp === undefined) {
$scope.dp = true;
event.stopPropagation();
} else {
$scope.dp = false;
}
};

You need to use a separate variable for each div you want to show. You could add the dp attribute to the report. There is no need to loop over the reports to hide them. You can just keep track of the currently visible report and hide it when another one is toggled.
Here is the relevant HTML:
<li dir-paginate="report in reports | itemsPerPage:4">
Options
<h3>{{report.Title}}</h3>
<div class="options" ng-show="report.dp">
<p>These are some options</p>
</div>
</li>
and JavaScript
var visibleReport;
$scope.showOptions = function(event, report){
if (report == visibleReport) {
report.dp = !report.dp;
}
else {
if (visibleReport) visibleReport.dp = false;
report.dp = true;
}
visibleReport = report
event.stopPropagation();
};
window.onclick = function(){
if (visibleReport) visibleReport.dp = false;
visibleReport = null;
$scope.$apply();
};

Trying to validate that at least one checkbox is checked angularJS

Trying to figure out the best way to stay on the same page alerting the user if they have failed to check at least one checkbox.
HTML:
<div class="col3">
<input type="checkbox" ng-model="$parent.value5" ng-true-value="'Togetherness'" ng-false-value="">
<span class="checkboxtext">
Togetherness
</span><br>
<!--<p>We value our people and recognize that <strong>Together</strong> we achieve superior results.</p><br>-->
<div class="col3">
<a ui-sref="form.submit">
<button name="button" ng-click="SaveValue()">Continue</button>
</a>
Back-end angularJS to check if one of the boxes was checked-
$scope.SaveValue = function () {
var valueStatus = [];
if ($scope.value1 === "Methodical")
{
valueStatus.push($scope.value1);
}
if ($scope.value2 === "Relentless")
{
valueStatus.push($scope.value2);
}
if ($scope.value3 === "Togetherness")
{
valueStatus.push($scope.value3)
}
if ($scope.value4 === "Excellent") {
valueStatus.push($scope.value4)
}
if ($scope.value5 === "Ingenious") {
valueStatus.push($scope.value5)
}
return valueStatus
};
Basically I'm wanting to make an array of these values and then return it. However, I want the user to check at least one box. I've tried redirecting back to the page if valueStatus[0] == null. However, I don't think this is the best way to validate and it does not work completely how I think it ought to.
The way I solve this is putting validation on the length of array (valueStatus in your case) with hidden number input. The input will have min validation on. So, if user fails to check at least one, the form is not submitted;
<input type="number" name="valueStatus" ng-model="valueStatus.length" min="1" style="display: none">
Then, you can use normal validation on valueStatus that is available on the form model
myFormName.valueStatus.$valid
This way, most of the logic is put into the template, which is called angularjs way ;)
UPDATE
Forgot to mention:
You need to update the list of checked values on on-change checkbox event
<input type="checkbox" ng-model="checkboxValue1" on-change="updateValueStatus(checkboxValue1)">
<input type="checkbox" ng-model="checkboxValue2" on-change="updateValueStatus(checkboxValue2)">
and in controller
$scope.updateValueStatus = function(value){
var indexOf = $scope.valueStatus.indexOf(value);
if(indexOf < 0) {
$scope.valueStatus.push(value);
} else {
$scope.valueStatus.splice(indexOf, 1);
}
}
Hope it will help people with the same issue
simply just check the valueStatus length is equal to 0 or not
$scope.SaveValue = function () {
var valueStatus = [];
if ($scope.value1 === "Methodical")
{
valueStatus.push($scope.value1);
}
if ($scope.value2 === "Relentless")
{
valueStatus.push($scope.value2);
}
if ($scope.value3 === "Togetherness")
{
valueStatus.push($scope.value3)
}
if ($scope.value4 === "Excellent") {
valueStatus.push($scope.value4)
}
if ($scope.value5 === "Ingenious") {
valueStatus.push($scope.value5)
}
if (valueStatus.length === 0 ) {
console.log('please select atleast one select box')
}
return valueStatus
};
Edited
remove the ui-sref tag and change the state inside your click function
<button name="button" ng-click="SaveValue()">Continue</button>
in the saveValue function add this
if (valueStatus.length === 0 ) {
console.log('please select atleast one select box')
}else{
$state.go('form.submit') // if atleast one selected then the page will change
}

using AND operator in Angular

I have the following HTML
<input type="checkbox" id="cbxSelectAllPreventive"/> <label>Select All</label>
<ul style="list-style: none;">
<li ng-repeat="test in lists.Tests">
</li>
</ul>
Test is an array of complex objects having isSelected property.
I want to use the checkbox as SelectAll functionality.
To do this , I need to supply ng-model to the checkbox, I can supply it as a method which checks in each of the tests and returns true/false. Is there any way to do this inline, without writing a method ?
I only see a way to do it using a function on ng-change
<input type="checkbox" id="cbxSelectAllPreventive"
ng-model="checked" ng-change="setAll(checked)"/>
...
$scope.setAll = function(isSelected){
$scope.lists.Tests.map(function(el){
el.isSelected = isSelected;
})
}
Working fiddle
EDIT:
For complete two-way connection between items' selection and check box the code will be a bit more complicated.
We will use an extra variable in $scope to reflect the label of check box. Don't forget to init the variable at controller creation
<label for="cbxSelectAllPreventive">{{selectLabel}}</label>
...
$scope.selectLabel = 'Select All';
setAll function should take care of setting this variable.
$scope.setAll = function(isSelected){
$scope.selectLabel = isSelected ? 'Deselect All' : 'Select All';
$scope.lists.Tests.map(function(el){
el.isSelected = isSelected;
})
}
And finally you definitely will have an option to select/deselect individual items. For this case you have to $watch your list. Mind the third parameter true which does deep comparison otherwise it won't "notice" changes inside objects.
$scope.$watch('lists.Tests', function(){
var text = $scope.lists.Tests.map(function(el){ return el.isSelected; }).join();
console.log(text);
var allSelected = $scope.lists.Tests.every(function(el){ return el.isSelected;});
var noneSelected = $scope.lists.Tests.every(function(el){ return !el.isSelected;});
if(noneSelected){
$scope.selectLabel = 'Select All';
$scope.checked = false;
}else if(allSelected){
$scope.selectLabel = 'Deselect All';
$scope.checked = true;
}
if(!noneSelected && !allSelected) {
$scope.selectLabel = 'Undetermined';
// here set the check box to undetermined (third) state
}
}, true);

Did you try ng-checkbox is should do exaclty what

How to create a new list based on an old one in AngularJS

I have the list in my controller:
$scope.newsLists = [
{ newsName: list1, newsStatus: isOpen },
{ newsName: list2, newsStatus: isOpen },
{ newsName: list3, newsStatus: isOpen },
{ newsName: list4, newsStatus: isClosed }
];
then I'd like to create another list based on this $scope.newsList.
such as:
$scope.valueNewsLists = $scope.newsLists(list.newsStatus == isOpen);
But I don't know how to create the $scope.valueNewsLists in a correct way.
I do need this list because I have to write a function for pages.
If somebody have a explication for this problem, I would be very appreciated !
You can filter existing array with built in Javascript Array.prototype.filter function:
var isOpen = function(element) {
return element.newsStatus == isOpen
}
$scope.valueNewsLists = $scope.newsLists.filter(isOpen);
You can use filter on template in order to get the result you wanted.
<div ng-repeat="list in newsList| filter:{newsStatus:'isOpen'}">
<input ng-model="list.newsName" />
</div>

Knockout.js Checkbox checked and click event

We're trying to implement a checkbox and list with the following functionality:
Clicking the checkbox will either clear the array if there are items in there, or add a new item if not.
Remove an item from the array when clicking the Remove button, once the last item is removed the checkbox automatically unchecks itself.
The problem I am having is that if you click to remove each array item, then click the checkbox to add a blank entry, I'm expecting the checkbox to be checked again (as per the checked observable), however it is not?
I have the following code:
http://jsfiddle.net/UBsW5/3/
<div>
<input type="checkbox" data-bind="checked: PreviousSurnames().length > 0, click: $root.PreviousSurnames_Click" />Previous Surname(s)?
</div>
<div data-bind="foreach: PreviousSurnames">
<div>
<input type="text" data-bind="value: $data">
<span data-bind="click: $root.removePreviousSurname">Remove</span>
</div>
</div>
var myViewModelExample = function () {
var self = this;
self.PreviousSurnames = ko.observableArray(['SURNAME1', 'SURNAME2', 'SURNAME3']);
self.removePreviousSurname = function (surname) {
self.PreviousSurnames.remove(surname);
};
self.PreviousSurnames_Click = function () {
if (self.PreviousSurnames().length === 0) {
self.PreviousSurnames.push('');
}
else {
self.PreviousSurnames.removeAll();
}
alet(2)
}
}
ko.applyBindings(new myViewModelExample());
If you are using together the click and the checked then you need to return true from your click handler to allow the browser default click action which is in this case checking the checkbox:
self.PreviousSurnames_Click = function () {
if (self.PreviousSurnames().length === 0) {
self.PreviousSurnames.push('');
}
else {
self.PreviousSurnames.removeAll();
}
return true;
}
Demo JSFiddle.
You need to use a computed to monitor the length of the observable array. This way when the length reaches zero you can react to it automatically.
self.surnames = ko.computed(function() {
var checked = true;
if (self.PreviousSurnames().length === 0) {
self.PreviousSurnames.push('');
checked = false;
}
return checked;
});
Now you will have the blank text box when all of the names are cleared. If you update your binding on the checkbox it will function properly as well.
<input type="checkbox" data-bind="checked: surnames, click: PreviousSurnames_Click" />Previous Surname(s)?
