How to pass a file as command line argument in Netbeans - file

I have trying to work out with Netbeans for the last two days.
I am writing a scanner program that takes input of the scanner from a file token_list.java.
So How can we give this token_list.java as an argument to the Main file ( Scanner.java).
When I am doing it on the Unix system using command line argument all works fine and well. The problem comes when i am doing it on netbeans.
I have even tried giving the file name token_list.java as an argument in the run properties in the project. But then later i realized that the command line arguments for the run properties are for just giving the inputs rather than the file name.
Update : The command that I give in unix is
$java Scanner input.text
So What I am now trying to do in netbeans is right click on the scanner.java and run it.
But it then gives the error that no arguments have been passed. I am taking the file name in argv

There is a community contributed plugin named NbRunWithArgs https://github.com/tusharvjoshi/nbrunwithargs which will provide you "Run with Arguments" option when you run Java project or a single Java file.
You may want to use this plugin, more details are available on blog post here.
UPDATE (24 mar 2014) This plugin is now available in NetBeans Plugin Portal that means it can be installed from Plugins dialog box from the available plugins shown from community contributed plugins, in NetBeans IDE 8.0

In Netbeans, right-click on your Project name and click Properties
In the "Run", you can define, which class is the main-class, the working directory and arguments
After that, try to run the project, not the class itself !

I've installed Hbase but when I type a commmand in cmd "hbase shell" the it shows the following error

Here is the error when I type "hbase shell"
*:\hbase-2.5.0\hbase-config.cmd"' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. \Java\jdk1.8.0_261\lib\tools.jar was unexpected at this time.
and here comes another error when I type "start-hbase.sh"
The file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. please install and app or if already installed, create an association in the Default Apps setting page
Seems like you are on windows (correct me if I'm wrong).
Your first command seems to come from an installation issue. The shell can't seem to find hbase-config.cmd. Make sure you followed the installation instructions properly and everything is where it's supposed to be.
As for the second error, you can't run bourne shell files (.sh extension) on windows.
It would be best you link the tutorial/documentation you followed in your original question, and add more information about your directory structure.

Error name not defined while trying to load Jupyter notebook from canopy version 2.1.3

I am running on Canopy version 2.1.3 and I keep getting a syntax error. I have tried using ipython-notebook as well as jupyter-notebook and both times I get back that ipython and jupyter are not defined. I've double checked and it looks like I have all the packages installed in order to use notebook and everything is up to date.
What is your OS? Exactly what command are you entering, and from what kind of console? Please include an exact transcript (input and output) of your session. Also a link to the instructions that you are trying to follow.
For example, if you want to start a notebook from the command line, go to Canopy's tools menu, open a "Canopy Terminal / Command Prompt", and type jupyter notebook. Or, skip the command line and just use Canopy's File menu => New => Notebook.

Jenkins/Windows - Launch TestNG suite from .bat

Stackoverflow helped me a lot to reach that point but now I'm completely stuck, here is my problem :
I'm currently developing several tests to check a website. I code with Java in Eclipse, using testNG plugin with ReportNG for report, all of this using Windows 7 pro.
My tests work, and my report is well generated, so now I have to put it on Jenkins for my company so they will run my tests every X hours.
In order to launch my tests, I have made a file, named Run.bat, which runs the Java code, I tested it and it works, here is the code :
Run.bat
set classpath=blex_test_v1\bin;blex_test_v1\lib\*
java org.testng.TestNG blex_test_v1\blex_test_v1.xml
I now try to launch the tests on Jenkins, creating a new job and configuring it with the build section :
Run.bat
And this is my problem, I've tried everything (relative path, only the name of the file etc...) I always get this error :
java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "cmd" (in directory "/var/jenkins_home/jobs/blex_functional_test/workspace"): error=2, No such file or directory
So I checked the Jenkins workspace but my Run.bat is in it :
Workspace
I have read that Jenkins is in Linux so it might cause problem with bat files, so I tried to create a script but I didn't succeed either ..
So my question is : How can I run my test on Jenkins using my file Run.bat ? What am I doing wrong here ?
Thanks a lot !
Finally I can add an answer :
Jenkins is installed on a Unix machine so you can't run a bat file, it has to be a bash script.
To create a bash script, refer here.
Then you have to make sure that the plugin Xvfb is installed (and works) on the computer where Jenkins is installed.
I use testNG with reportNg and it doesn't work with the last firefox version so you I use firefox v34.0.5 and this version must be installed also on the Jenkins computer.
If you want to open the report after the execution, install another plugin and configure it (report HTML or something like that)
God it took me about a week but it's good to see it working !

Nagios Plugin Error: (No output on stdout) ... failed. errno is 2: No such file or directory

I am using custom Nagios plugins for the first time and am running into this error when I create a service for the plugin.
(No output on stdout) stderr: execvp(/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_load.py, ...) failed. errno is 2: No such file or directory
The plugin works when I run it on the command line, however does not work when it runs within Nagios.
I followed these steps to get the plugin into Nagios
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagiosxi/docs/Managing-Plugins-in-Nagios-XI.pdf
Here is what it looks like in the Nagios UI
The plugin is in the correct path: /usr/local/nagios/libexec and the resource.cfg file has the same path within it.
I tried two separate plugins, both which work on the command line, and the result is the same error.
The error indicates the file location is incorrect, however the plugin is in the specified directory and runs with no errors within that directory.
I am totally stumped and appreciate any help.
For anyone reading this, I solved the problem.
The first time I added the plugin, I forgot to add the python extension. When I updated the already created plugin, Nagios still threw the error.
Once I completely deleted the plugin and re-created it the 'file not found', error went away.
I faced a similar issue when I was trying to add a custom plugin ( I had custom plugins in ruby and python ).
The issue was the missing shebang line at the start of the script (which determines the script's ability to be executed like a standalone executable).
For example, if you have a python plugin custom-plugin.py then make sure this script has shebang at the start of script #!/usr/bin/env python3. Also if you have other scripts (ruby, bash etc.) make sure to add the appropriate path at the start of your scripts.
Also, check the path for plugins Nagios version. For my setup path was /usr/local/nagios/libexec/ and make sure your custom plugin is executable and has correct ownership permissions.
Sample custom template I used :
define command {
command_name check_switch_health
command_line /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_snmp.rb --host $HOSTADDRESS$ --model "$ARG1$" --community "$ARG2$"
}
The above workaround worked for me.

Install Packages (for dummies)

I know there's a lot of information on here about installing python packages, but I'm quite new to python and I think I need a more "for dummies" level of help.
I was trying to install openpyxl for which as far as I can tell I need easy_install, for which, as far as I can tell, I need setuptools. I tried running the code provided here https://pypi.python.org/pypi/setuptools which is supposed to download and install setuptools (and according to some sites, easy_install aswell?) - it runs successfully, but help(modules) doesn't show setuptools or easy_install as modules, I have no idea whats installed and what isn't, or how I'm supposed to install any of it!
Essentially I'm very confused, very frustrated and really need someone to talk me through (in idiot-speak) what I'm supposed to do.
Thankyou!
We all start somewhere, I was there two weeks ago.
I'll assume you're using Python2. I believe Distribute and Pip are recommended for Python3 (which I will be using as examples). I will also assume you are on Windows.
First, python needs to be registered to Path. To check if this has been done automatically, open a command prompt (start -> programs -> accessories), and type 'python', then enter. If it returns the version number, etc, skip down a bit. If it throws an error, you need to add Python to Path.
Adding Python to Path
To add Python to Path on a Windows computer, go to:
Control Panel -> System -> Advanced Settings -> Environment Settings -> System Variables
Scroll down to select path, then click edit. Copy the entire line to a text document, and add your install directory for Python.exe (and the scripts folder) using ';' as a delimiter between different directories. Copy this back to Path and save. (Additionally close your command prompt window to reset it.)
For my Windows 7 machine, I added:
;C:\Python33;C:\Python33\scripts;
Take care when editing this file. There are many videos out there describing this in detail if you feel unsure about changing this.
Installing Modules (Such as setup_tools)
Once Python is registered in the Path file, download and unzip setup_tools to a folder within your Python install directory called 'modules'. I use ExtractNow to unzip, as it will unzip twice (as required) automatically.
Open a command prompt window again, and direct it to change directories by typing
cd [directory for module you want to install]
On my computer, this would be
cd C:\Python33\modules\distribute-0.6.40
Again, I use distribute, rather than setup_tools as it sounds like you need would for Python2. Simply use the appropriate directory. Press enter to change the directory.
Once you've entered this and it shows a changed directory, type:
python setup.py install
This indicates that you want to use the program python to use the setup.py file in the specified folder to install the module. This should be successful, and will write many lines of code.
If you want to install other modules, you would install them in a similar way. Python would automatically use setup_tools on your computer to finish each install.
Remember to import at the start of your script when using them to code:
import [module]
