Design of listbox in silverlight windows phone 7 - silverlight

I have a code like that:
<ListBox Height="522" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="20,162,0,0" Name="listBox1" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="448" >
<ListBox.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" Height="132">
<Image Source="{Binding IconSource}" Height="48" Width="48" VerticalAlignment="Top" Margin="0,10,8,0"/>
<StackPanel Width="370">
<TextBlock Text="{Binding Text}" FontSize="36" VerticalAlignment="Top" Margin="0,20,20,0" Width="380" Height="Auto"/>
</StackPanel>
</StackPanel>
</DataTemplate>
</ListBox.ItemTemplate>
</ListBox>
In Listbox i have 2 for-loop elements - image (icon) and text.
I need to fill the background of a particular image, but I do not know how to do it. In other words:
sorry for little stupid question and thanks for answers.

If I understand your problem correctly, you just need to add a background to the StackPanel. Change the color and opacity properties until you get the effect that you want.
<ListBox Height="522" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="20,162,0,0" Name="listBox1" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="448" >
<ListBox.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" Height="132" Padding>
<StackPanel.Background>
<SolidColorBrush Color="Black" Opacity="0.4" />
</StackPanel.Background>
<Image Source="{Binding IconSource}" Height="48" Width="48" VerticalAlignment="Top" Margin="0,10,8,0"/>
<StackPanel Width="370">
<TextBlock Text="{Binding Text}" FontSize="36" VerticalAlignment="Top" Margin="0,20,20,0" Width="380" Height="Auto"/>
</StackPanel>
</StackPanel>
</DataTemplate>
</ListBox.ItemTemplate>
</ListBox>

Adding Scrollbar to ItemsControl

I have a long list coming from my Business logic which I need to display on the UI. As the list is long, I tried adding Scrollviewer but I am unable to scroll.
please find the XAML code below
<Grid Margin="0,32,0,0">
<TextBlock Text="{Binding IDC_WiFi, Source={StaticResource Resources}}" FontFamily="Segoe UI" FontSize="20" Foreground="#4cb5ab" HorizontalAlignment="Left" />
<Button Command="{Binding HardwareWifiAccordionCommand}" BorderThickness="0" Width="16" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Height="16" >
<Button.Background>
<ImageBrush ImageSource="{Binding AccordionImageHardwareWifi}" />
</Button.Background>
</Button>
</Grid>
<TextBlock Text="Klein's, Anil's" FontFamily="Segoe UI" FontSize="15" Foreground="#8fa3ad"/>
<StackPanel Height="200" Visibility="{Binding IsAccordionHardwareWifi, Converter={StaticResource Bool2Visible}}">
<ScrollViewer VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto">
<ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding WifiList,Mode=TwoWay,UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" >
<ItemsControl.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<StackPanel Margin="0,32,0,0">
<Grid>
<Image Source="/Images/Assets/da_wifi1_16x16.png" Height="16" Width="16" HorizontalAlignment="Left" />
<TextBlock Margin="25,0,0,0" Text="{Binding NetworkName}" FontSize="15" Foreground="#FFFFFF" />
<TextBlock Text="" FontSize="15" Foreground="#8fa3ad" HorizontalAlignment="Right" />
</Grid>
<TextBlock Text="" FontSize="15" Foreground="#8fa3ad" HorizontalAlignment="Left" />
</StackPanel>
</DataTemplate>
</ItemsControl.ItemTemplate>
</ItemsControl>
</ScrollViewer>
</StackPanel>
Put it into a ScrollViewer.
<ScrollViewer>
<StackPanel >
</StackPanel>
</ScrollViewer>
As #StepUp points out you can just wrap it with a ScrollViewer but I believe this breaks virtualization. That's outside the scope of this question of course but it's something to keep in mind. If performance is likely to become an issue then I'd suggest implementing this as shown in the answer to this question.
The scrollviewer needed a Height to be set
<Grid Margin="0,32,0,0">
<TextBlock Text="{Binding IDC_WiFi, Source={StaticResource Resources}}" FontFamily="Segoe UI" FontSize="20" Foreground="#4cb5ab" HorizontalAlignment="Left" />
<Button Command="{Binding HardwareWifiAccordionCommand}" BorderThickness="0" Width="16" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Height="16" >
<Button.Background>
<ImageBrush ImageSource="{Binding AccordionImageHardwareWifi}" />
</Button.Background>
</Button>
</Grid>
<TextBlock Text="Klein's, Anil's" FontFamily="Segoe UI" FontSize="15" Foreground="#8fa3ad"/>
<StackPanel Height="200" Visibility="{Binding IsAccordionHardwareWifi, Converter={StaticResource Bool2Visible}}">
<ScrollViewer VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" Height="350">
<ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding WifiList,Mode=TwoWay,UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" >
<ItemsControl.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<StackPanel Margin="0,32,0,0">
<Grid>
<Image Source="/Images/Assets/da_wifi1_16x16.png" Height="16" Width="16" HorizontalAlignment="Left" />
<TextBlock Margin="25,0,0,0" Text="{Binding NetworkName}" FontSize="15" Foreground="#FFFFFF" />
<TextBlock Text="" FontSize="15" Foreground="#8fa3ad" HorizontalAlignment="Right" />
</Grid>
<TextBlock Text="" FontSize="15" Foreground="#8fa3ad" HorizontalAlignment="Left" />
</StackPanel>
</DataTemplate>
</ItemsControl.ItemTemplate>
</ItemsControl>
</ScrollViewer>
</StackPanel>

textblock in user control TextWrapping not wrapping

I created user control with the textblock. But it will not wrap. This user control servers as a listboxitem.
<Grid x:Name="MainGrid" Height="Auto" Width="Auto">
<StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal">
<Image Height="50" Width="100" Stretch="Uniform" Name="image1" Source="{Binding Path=VideoImageUrl}" Margin="12,12,13,84" MouseLeftButtonDown="image1_MouseLeftButtonDown" MouseEnter="image1_MouseEnter" MouseLeave="image1_MouseLeave" />
<StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" >
<TextBlock TextWrapping="Wrap" Height="Auto" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Name="titleTextBox"
Text="{Binding Path=Title, Mode=TwoWay, ValidatesOnExceptions=true, NotifyOnValidationError=true}"
VerticalAlignment="Center" Width="Auto" FontSize="14" FontWeight="SemiBold" />
<StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" x:Name="StackPanelDetails">
<TextBlock Height="Auto" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Name="desciptionTextBox"
TextWrapping="Wrap"
Text="{Binding Path=Desciption, Mode=OneWay, ValidatesOnExceptions=true, NotifyOnValidationError=true}"
VerticalAlignment="Center" Width="Auto" />
<Line />
<ItemsControl x:Name="CustomItemsSource" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=LinksList}" >
<ItemsControl.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<TextBlock>
<Hyperlink NavigateUri="{Binding Path=TopicUrl}" RequestNavigate="Hyperlink_RequestNavigate" >
<TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=TopicName}" />
</Hyperlink>
</TextBlock>
</DataTemplate>
</ItemsControl.ItemTemplate>
</ItemsControl>
</StackPanel>
</StackPanel>
</StackPanel>
</Grid>
A ListBox's default template does not automatically limit the width of its items, but instead uses a ScrollViewer, which shows a horizontal scrollbar when an item is wider than the ListBox.
You can remove the ScrollViewer by replacing the ListBox's Template:
<ListBox ...>
<ListBox.Template>
<ControlTemplate>
<StackPanel IsItemsHost="True"/>
</ControlTemplate>
</ListBox.Template>
...
</ListBox>
Another important thing to note is that a StackPanel in the top-level Grid won't properly resize the contained elements. In the following simplified example the text in the TextBlock is not wrapped because the containing StackPanel simply does not resize it as you expect:
<Grid>
<StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal">
<Image ... />
<Text TextWrapping="Wrap" Text=... />
</StackPanel>
</Grid>
This way it works as you expect:
<Grid>
<Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
<ColumnDefinition Width="Auto"/>
<ColumnDefinition/>
</Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
<Image ... />
<TextBlock Grid.Column="1" TextWrapping="Wrap" Text=... />
</Grid>

I unable to get child control from ListBox control in WPF using MVVM

I am in serious trouble. I have listbox control in which i have many combo box. whenever select the value in combo box, i have to make other controls as hidden. i am using MVVM pattren. i am unable to get the child controls from ListBox control but i can get the ListBox control in viewmodel. How can i get these controls in viewmodel? Is it possible? I am using framework 4.0. i have shown the code below which write in view.
<ListBox x:Name="lstItems" MaxHeight="300" FontSize="11" Margin="12,0,20,38" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource listedView}, Path=myItemsSource, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged, Mode=TwoWay}">

</Grid>
<Button Name="cmdAddLevel" Padding="0" Margin="-1,1,0,-1" Width="75" Command ="{Binding Source={StaticResource listedView}, Path=AddLevelCommand, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" BorderBrush="White" BorderThickness="1" Height="25" HorizontalContentAlignment="Center">
<StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal">
<Image Height="16" Width="16" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="1,0,0,-1">

</StackPanel>
</Border>
</DataTemplate>
</ListBox.ItemTemplate>
<ListBox.ItemsPanel>
<ItemsPanelTemplate>
<StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" />
</ItemsPanelTemplate>
</ListBox.ItemsPanel>
</ListBox>
Please help me. once again, i want to know how to get the child control from parent control... Is it possible?
Using the MVVM pattern, you should not be referencing any of the controls directly. Alternatively, you should create a boolean property on your viewmodel that decides if various controls should be visible. Then bind the Visibility property of the controls you want to hide to this property, using a converter.
See this previous Q/A for details on visibility converters: Link

How can I make a ListBox expand to fit the entire available width?

I need to make the ListBox expand to fit the width it has available. Here's the XAML:
<ListBox Grid.Row="2" Height="400" ItemsSource="{StaticResource Notes}" VerticalAlignment="Top">
<ListBox.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<StackPanel Orientation="Vertical" Height="90" Margin="5">
<TextBlock Text="{Binding Title}" FontSize="30" />
<TextBlock Text="{Binding Text}" FontSize="15" />
<Rectangle Fill="#1192D4" Height="2" />
</StackPanel>
</DataTemplate>
</ListBox.ItemTemplate>
</ListBox>

Can't get focus on a TextBox inside a ListBox using Silverlight

I'm having a little trouble in silverlight with a databound ListBox containing databound TextBox elements. The items display correctly in the list and the TextBox is populated correctly but I can't get focus on the TextBox in the list. If I hover over the edges of the TextBox it highlights but it won't let me click into it to edit the text. Any ideas?
My XAML looks like this:
<ListBox x:Name="listImages">
<ListBox.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="White">
<Image Height="102" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Name="imgThumb" Stretch="UniformToFill" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="155" Source="{Binding ImageFilename, Converter={StaticResource ImageConverter}}" />
<TextBox Height="23" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="154,25,0,0" Name="txtAltText" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="239" Text="{Binding Alt}" />
<dataInput:Label Height="19" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="154,6,0,0" Name="lblAltText" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="239" Content="Alt Text" />
</Grid>
</DataTemplate>
</ListBox.ItemTemplate>
</ListBox>
I swapped the content for this and it now works, I think it was having an issue with the Grid container:
<ListBox x:Name="listImages">
<ListBox.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal">
<Image Height="102" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Name="imgThumb" Stretch="UniformToFill" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="155" Source="{Binding ImageFilename, Converter={StaticResource ImageConverter}}" Margin="5" />
<StackPanel>
<dataInput:Label Height="19" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Name="lblAltText" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="239" Content="Alt Text" />
<TextBox Height="23" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" Name="txtAltText" VerticalAlignment="Top" Text="{Binding Alt}" />
</StackPanel>
</StackPanel>
</DataTemplate>
</ListBox.ItemTemplate>
</ListBox>
