Salesforce: Adding items to 'Personal Setup' and 'Customize' - salesforce

I am writing a simple salesforce app that requires app-level and user-level configuration. I have created custom objects for these settings, but cannot figure out how to add links to the Setup page (Personal Setup and Customize) so that the settings can be managed.
Quite a lot of research, and a question on a salesforce board, have left me none the wiser. I have seen a couple of scripts on the web that hack the setup sidebar with javascript (eg http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/95361) ... but this can't be the right way to do it surely?

You are unable to do this without hacking because Salesforce want it so that you don't require over-explicit setup of any app you create - they want you to make it data-independent and in fact it may fail a security review if it is data dependent. It will also likely cause you headaches in correctly unit testing the app.
My suggestion would be to have a set of custom pages which are linked to on the home page for a user which display if they have no current values (so the first thing they see on the home page when they login for the first time is a "Hey, before you use this app you need to do some configuration through this handy wizard" and then block access to other areas of the app (i.e. display warning messages on other pages) if the app has not had this data setup.
That way you are not hacking and are providing a nice user experience around the extra setup.

DO you just want to add a new TAB on the top menu that links to the Edit page for your new sObject?
If so:
Goto setup https://cs3.salesforce.com/ui/setup/Setup
Click on 'Create' > 'Tab'
Pick the sObject you want the tab edit, the click next until you save the new tab.

There is no supported way to augment the Setup menu.
You should probably be using Custom Settings for what you are describing - they were designed for app-level and user-level configuration, and are available from Setup.
Otherwise, if it really is custom setup that requires fancier logic / UI / etc, you may want to do what many SFDC ISV's do and ship your app with its own configuration tab that's hidden, and/or custom VF page that manages app settings.

Microsoft Teams modify Save button in Connector setup page

I am currently working on the setup page for my custom MS Teams Connector.
For inspiration, I was looking into other companies and one particular thing caught my attention.
Teams usually has at the bottom 2 buttons, like here in my setup page:
I have no Problem communicating with them using the #microsoft/teams-js client SKD and could make my page work like it is now. But I got curious how to do it with custom buttons like other Companies.
For example Trello:
Like you can see they moved the buttons up and also have a login button.
I also need to add authentication form my Connector, so I was wondering if its possible to archive a similar layout for my Connector.
For the Setup page I am using web app created with create react app
So my questions are:
Is this possible using react?
If yes how is it done?
I could not find much documentation regarding this topic.
The behavior is by design. Quite a while back we started giving developers more control in the tab configuration flow and allow them to render their own button within the iframe. Everything within that task module is now controlled by the app.

How do I modify Drupal's Admin Screens?

I'm looking to edit Drupal's admin pages.
Some of the things I'm trying to achieve:
Remove is the the filter setting on the Content page/node/view. In other words, if I go to to the Content page and I filter by a certain type of node, then I leave that page, then come back, the filter setting is saved, I'd like it to reset each time I visit the Content page.
I would like to modify some of links associated with these pages, as an example on that Same Content page, the titles of the pages are linked to their 'front-end' views, I'd rather have them link to their 'edit' screens.
While I have been successful in modifying the front-end theme of Drupal, by editing the actual php files. I can't find the the same php files for the Admin theme. In our case we are using Seven (7.21). I've read something about views, and thought maybe the entire Admin theme is built as views, aka there no php files involved like the front-end theme has, but under the Views section I did not find any either. I'm still pretty new at this and coming from the Wordpress world, this is a Drupal is a lot different.
The logic for that section of the admin area is at (from the public root):
/modules/node
Specifically "node.admin.inc"
That being said, I don't recommend editing core scripts, as they will be overwritten when you update the core.
You could explore making your own module to supplement that page, or your own view or explore some pre-made modules, such as "Admin Views"

You don't have to use that default content overview page at all. Make your own instead:
Make a page view (you have to install views module if you already did not: https://www.drupal.org/project/views) and use table layout. Make sure that page paths starts with "admin" so it will use admin theme. Also pay attention about permissions, so only specific set of users (admins) can use it.
For that view you can freely select what columns you what to show. You can also allow ordering by any column and action if you click on some field.
Use exposed filters to add filtering form, again add any filters you need. You can even set the form to use AJAX, to do auto-submit when some filter field is changed, include reset button and more. Also for every exposed filed you can select (at fields settings) should it remember it's value or not.
At end, edit admin menu and add your new page to it so it will look and act as default one but will offer much more functionality. You can even totally remove default one from the admin menu.
Views module is very powerful, not only for front-end but also for back-end content handling.

Need help creating a skeleton for a client portal on DNN

Total DNN noob. I can code some WebForms and MVC, but having no luck finding anything concrete out there about doing what I want in DNN
How would I go about setting up a client portal in DNN? I want to have separate areas for the client, including a main dashboard that aggregates content for the client from the other areas. The other areas would include a matter area (with matter information - some auto generated for client, other information to be input by client), a documents area, an events area, a tasks area, a communications area (for chat, or forum style questions) and a profile area for the client (contact info, invoicing, etc.).
What I'd like is for a client to login and see only their items. An admin would log in and get the same "screens" or "areas", but with aggregated content for ALL users.
I know that's a lot, but I would imagine setting me up with a way to do the overall app and then how to create the areas to navigate to would get me going. I know there are modules for each of those things out there, but a) I wouldn't know how to integrate this into one client app and b) some are cost prohibitive.
Most of what I find focuses on setting up one module. Do I go that route and set up user controls within for the different areas? Or do I create separate little modules and tie them together? This is primarily where I am stuck. I can create something like this with standalone web forms or MVC. Hooking into DNN is where I get stuck.
I appreciate any guidance / samples.
There are a LOT of questions here and many ways that you can go about doing this. You could use third-party modules to handle this but you will need to figure out exactly which ones give you the functionality that you want.
If you are looking to do things custom, this is where it gets a lot easier. DNN for users can manage user identity and roles. Based on what you are saying it seems like you would have some custom modules that store all information based on UserId. By default you only display the information for the current user. However, if the user is in a specific role, say for example "Administrators" you would display all content.
This is pretty easy as with any DNN control that inherits from PortalModuleBase you have the UserId available to you as a property. Then you can use UserInfo.IsInRole("Administrators") to check for admins.

Drupal 7 - How to create custom admin menu for client management of content

I'm trying to find the best way to create a user friendly admin menu for my client on the site I am building. So far I have been able to set access rights to the various types of content which I would like the client to edit, however this has some drawbacks in that I can't set provide access to individual blocks and the content overview page is wayy too confusing for the client.
Instead I would like to provide a structure like the following:
Admin Menu
Services
Manage
Edit page header block
Developments
Manage
Edit page header block
Private commissions
Manage
Edit page header block
Each Manage option would take the client to a page like the Content overview page in the standard admin but it would automatically filter the results to include only the relevant content type e.g. the Manage option for developments page would show the user a list of the current developments and an option to Add a new one.
The Edit page header block options would take the user to the edit page for the relevant page header block.
Is this possible and if so how?
Any advice would be really appreciated.

Your description might be a little hard to understand what you're trying to accomplish, but if I get it right, you're trying to do a very custom "view" of the content pages. If you have to code it, then it's gonna take a long time.

dotnetnuke: can we create a master page?

Can we create a content managed master page in dotnetnuke?
eg. I want the right pane and bottom pane to be content managed, but to show the same thing across all pages.

What you are describing is essentially what DNN calls a Skin.
A DNN skin is actually just an ASP.NET user control (ascx) that dictates page-wide or site-wide look and feel, which offers developers the same functionality as a Master page, except that it ties into DNN-specific elements and uses some DNN-specific user controls, such as menu/navigation, logo, breadcrumbs, login/user account links, etc.
Now, in order to add the ability to provide content management capabilities site-wide, you specify an area in your skin to place a module (let's say, a Text/HTML module). This area is called a pane. Once you add a module to this pane, in its settings you can tell it to appear on every page. This way, the module can be edited on any page, and its changes will be reflected on all pages automatically.

DNN Modules can be set to appear on all pages by checking a checkbox in the module settings. However DNN does not use the concept of a Master Page. It injects modules (user controls) in containers on a single aspx page at runtime.
A Master Page would be a great addition to DotNetNuke you cannot replace content in a single area of the page. The whole page refreshes. For example if you have a menu and you only want the content of what you select to appear in a specific content area without refreshing the rest of the page you have to resort to third party modules that attempt to do that but usually fail. There are 'module wrappers' but all the ones I've tested have issues with modules that allow the user to edit content. Edit screens are usualy different user control files (ascx) that are launched when you edit the module content. Since the page refreshes with the new page you have lost your place. Those module wrappers work fine for static content and some other controls but not for all controls.
IFrames can be used (DNN has one) to trade out content but that doesn't get rid of the probelms mentione above. I'm heavily invested in DNN, running the UCanUse.com web site so this isn't a slam on DNN. I just thought I'd try to answer the quesiton with detail.
