Where can I download FluxJpeg from? - silverlight

What happened to the home page of FluxJpeg (or FJCore)? Many pages point to
http://code.google.com/p/fjcore/
but that page has no downloads available as of today (June 28, 2011).
Q1) Where can I download it from?
Q2) Is there anything better? I need an open-source class that I can use from Silverlight 4 to decode a JPEG, reduce its size (preferably using some interpolation algorithm) and encode it back to JPEG, to upload the file to a server.
Thanks a lot.

I think you're supposed to use Subversion to check out the source, and then build it yourself: http://code.google.com/p/fjcore/source/checkout.
Alternatively, you can use LibJpeg.NET: http://bitmiracle.com/libjpeg/. It's a straightforward port of the unofficially canonical libjpeg. Only downside is that it's more complex and a bit harder to hack on.

Q2.
Have a look at imagemagick Very stable, tons of functionality and the likelihood that it'll disappear is close to 0

Smooth Operator: Rename a file while writing to it

In Linux (probably also in Windows/OSX) if we open a file to write and while writing to it we rename it, the raku process goes smooth and keeps writing to the file as it should.
But how can we find the new name (path) of the file while the renaming happens?
IO::Notification is NOT the way to go because it gives no other information but only the general description:
FileRenamed or FileChanged
Is there a way to do it?
Short answer: No, not as far as I know.
Some technical background here: Rakudo on MoarVM (which is the only backend that supports IO::Notification afaik) depends on libuv for this functionality. If libuv doesn't support it, there only a very small chance that Rakudo will.
I have no idea if libuv supports that functionality. If it does, I suggest you make an issue in MoarVM to draw attention to this. Or even better, write a Pull Request to implement that functionality.

Playing a .mp4 file while writing it

This is a very simple task that I had such a hard time trying to do. My goal is pretty simple: send an mp4 file from my server to my client, and while its buffering and downloading I want to already play it. That means that I need to play a video.mp4 file while writing it, and I need it to display on some platform that I can control - like wxPython or WPF-Ironpython. Naturally, no such platform will let me play an open file for writing.
I have tried to implement and HTTP server (although totally unnecessary for my case, as I am writing an application-based Server-Client app) that would accept Range request, and when I run the server and load the URL on Chrome, it all works perfect and I can seek and buffering is great, but when I load it from WPF MediaElement it fails to play the video for some point (I cant really tell why as there is no documentation for this, any API, tutorials etc). I am really desperate.
I even thought about playing a video from a buffer and then just changing the buffer's content, but it doesn't seem like this possibility exists.
I am really stuck at this and I would love to get some suggestions. Please note that I am not a professional in this so I would appreciate if you could explain this to me in simple terms.
Thanks!
Not possible. MP4 is not the correct container for your application. You must use something like HLS/dash/fragmented MP4.

How to use Sphinx3 in an application

I used Sphinx4 for some time which really fits my needs. I load a recognizer, pass the audio data to it and use the recognized String in my application.
Right now I'm working on a C application (C++ is unfortunately not an option) where I need something similar and thought that I could use Sphinx3 which is written in C.
The problem is that I don't really know how it is used inside an application and there is no "Hello World"-example as Sphinx4 provides it.
I already compiled and installed sphinxbase and sphinx3 and now I can include the sphinx header files in my application.
Now to my questions:
Is there a "simple" and well documented example application that uses sphinx3 from a C environment?
How can I load up the sphinx3 engine and call a recognizer with my binary audio data?
OR: Do I need to start an application like "sphinx3_decode" and call it from my own application? If so, is there an example application for that?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
Robert
It's not recommended to use Sphinx3. From the website:
Sphinx-3 is CMU’s large vocabulary speech recognition system. It’s
older C based decoder that we continue to maintain. It’s planned to
make it obsolete in the future, it’s still most accurate decoder for
large vocabulary tasks. We are using it as a baseline to check the
recognizer accuracy. This decoder is only intended for researchers who
want to evaluate bleeding edge methods in ASR like tree search method.
If you need to use a decoder you should use pocketsphinx. You can find the tutorial and the API documentation on the website
http://cmusphinx.sourceforge.net/wiki/tutorialpocketsphinx
http://cmusphinx.sourceforge.net/api/pocketsphinx/pocketsphinx_8h.html
I Recently worked on an Intregated Project on Punjabi Language.
Here are some steps that we used...
First we recorded the punjabi audio data in a vaccumed room in 16000 hz sample rate.
Then we took the recorded data and segmented it using Praat Software into small wav and raw files of 2 to 30 sec and saved them in a folder named train.
Then we took a system having Linux ie. Ubuntu and installed the required plug in like autoconfig, automake etc and untarred Sphinx 3 along with 4 packages that are cmuclmtk, pocketsphinx, sphinxbase, sphinxtrain.
Then according to the small wav files we made many files like transcription, dic, phone, filler, file id, ccs etc.
Then we opened the terminal and typed –"sphinx_fe” to check the whether the sphinx is functional or not.
Then we created an folder named “man” and then in terminal wrote its path.
Then we run the command- “sphinxtrain –t man setup”. By running this command an folder named “etc” will be formed in “man” folder containing files “feat_paramas” & ”config”.
Changes were made in the in the config file according to our data.
Then we moved all the files that we created before ie. transcription, dic in the etc folder in that is located in man folder.
Then we placed ‘lang1.sh” script in etc folder and remaining 4 scripts in man folder.
Then we opened the path for etc folder in terminal and run command- “lang1.sh”
Then we run series of commands in terminal – “mfcgen2.sh” then “verify3.sh” then “hmm4.sh” and at last “end-test.sh” to get the final result.
Rest if you have worked on Sphinx 4 then you may know about the files that are mentioned above in the steps. I hope this helps you.

Remote Desktop Project in C

I want to make project for my final year in college.
So someone suggested me to make Remote Desktop in C.
Now I know basic socket functions for windows in C i.e. I know how to make
echo server in C.
But I don't know what to do next. I searched on internet but couldn't find
something informative.
Could someone suggest me how to approach from this point..any tutorial...or any source ?
I think this is do-able. For a college project, you don't need to have something as complex and as full-featured as VNC. Even demonstrating simple keyboard and mouse control and screen feedback would be enough, in my opinion, and that's well within reach.
If you're doing everything from scratch and using Win32, you can get the remote screen using the regular "printscreen" example all around the internet.
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cpp/Screen_Capture__Win32_.aspx has it, for one. You can then compress the image with a third-party library, or just send it raw; this wouldn't be very efficient but it would still be a viable demonstration.
Apart from capturing the screen data remotely and showing it in the local window, you'll need to listen for local window messages for mouse and keyboard events, send them to the remote host, and then play them back. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms646310%28VS.85%29.aspx will probably do that for you.
Check tightvnc TightVNC is a free remote control software package. The source code is also available.
For sending the image of the screen I would probably use rtp. The JRTPLIB is really handy for that.
And yes, as KevinDTimm says, an echo server is the very easiest part.
KevinDTimm may well be right, writing an RDP client would a fairly significant undertaking. To give you some idea, the current spec, available at the top of this page, is 419 pages long and includes references to several additional documents for specific aspects of RDP like Audio Redirection and Clipboards.

Is there something similar for emacs like vims's NERDtree

For vim there is a filesystem explorer called NERDtree: https://github.com/scrooloose/nerdtree
Surely an alternative or superior package exists for Emacs?
I prefer dirtree (screenshot below) by Ye Wenbin. It feels pretty close to NERDTree / the TextMate drawer.
It took me a few minutes of trial and error to figure out the dependencies, so take a look at the install instructions (and a few minor edits to the source) I've got in this repo.
You can try NeoTree .

Have you looked at Speedbar ?
The Sunrise Commander seems to be a well written package, and it has a tree extension. For a screenshot of the tree extension in action, follow this link.
Who needs any tree, when you have the mighty ido-mode . If you can train your mind to find the files, rather than just your eyes whilst visually finding it, you will win. NO need to tell me how biology works, i don't care :-) you get the point.
Personally, I prefer the ECB's tree mode.

You should also check out the CEDET stuff.
http://cedet.sourceforge.net/
They contain a lot of other useful stuff that you can use for similar development needs.
I use a little of emacs-nav and a little of dired to navigate my projects' file trees. For file management tasks, I mostly use bash (often from within emacs).
(Shameless reanswer from A good project tree browser for Emacs? - Stack Overflow)
I just now did a word search for "explore" in package-list-packages, and discovered project-explorer. Seems to fit exactly what I want today (I don't code hardly, but getting a grip on the structure of my Jekyll site).
Keys include TAB for folding and unfolding directories. Open files with RET or f, but with prefix, it will prompt nicely for which window, and even from there allow you to decide to use window or open up a new one to any side (I didn't find the prompt string in the package code, so it seems to leverage built in Emacs functionality nicely; indeed it looks like dired even).
It's available on Melpa and Marmalade, and packaged description points to sabof_project-explorer · GitHub.
I include the site's image for convenience:
I don't use projectile or helm, but it has some integration.
Try out lusty-explorer. It's a well done plugin.
