which theme in Drupal 7? - drupal-7

I've been learning drupal for the last month.
Now I'd like to start with Themes. There are a lot of themes out there. My choice to start with is between Zen (for its popularity) and Omega (for it using 960gs).
What advices can I have in this?
Is Omega a better themer than Zen?. I think it is. Am I wrong?
What about the future (then its support) of Omega?
Thanks

I you are at the beginning of the learning-curve, maybe you should look to Sky, also a 960 theme with html5 and much simpler then Omega or Zen.

Is there a way to detect Android's dark/night mode?

Is there a way to detect Android's dark/night mode? Additionally, is there a way to inherit dark styles?
I see a build hint here android.theme that can be light or dark. Its description also says it might be dark in the future but no further explanation is given
Thanks
No. These are both things that we need to provide a better solution for on iOS and desktop too. I suggest filing an RFE for this.
That build hint is part of a legacy from the Android 2.x days and shouldn't be applicable.

Slyling codename one application using .css text files

A few of months ago I watched this vido Steve Hanna video.
It describes a good way to apply style in a "Codename One application" using .css text files.
Does current version of "Codename One Plugin (3.6)" allow me to do that?
Do I need to install some .cn1lib module to make this feature work?
I would have written this as a comment, but I don't have enough reputation.
I would be very happy if you adopted Steve's cn1-css plugin into Codename One. I use it every day, and vastly prefer it to messing with the GUI theme/resource editor.
I use a lot of "custom" rounded rectangles with background color, and I'd much rather make a quick edit to a text file (.css) than "start over" in a paint application, divide image into pieces, etc. CSS is quicker and a lot less error prone (for me, at least).
Perhaps I am missing an "obvious" solution to this problem of "I want to try out a different bg color, or a different border radius," or maybe cn1-css is this obvious solution?
I am very grateful to Steve for writing this cn1-css plugin!
This is a feature Steve worked on in his spare time and integrated via an extensions which you can install with these instructions. We are looking for feedback on this feature and we are trying to gauge the desire to roll it into Codename One proper.
We know a few people use it but we're still looking for feedback.

How to mobilize drupal 6 site using module, keep theme for desktop viewing

I know, we are still on Drupal 6
I am wondering if there is an easy Module I can use to "Mobilize" our site?
I tried Modernizr, but it isn't happy.
We need to keep our current theme the way it is for desktop viewing, we just need to update tablet and phone viewing theme.
Has anyone had any luck using a module for Drupal 6 ?
Thanks so much!
We are still on Drupal 6, too. I've found very little in the way of mobile or responsive themes for Drupal 6, since D7 was released when responsive became popular, so D6 has been left behind by most theme developers.
In the end my solution was to add responsive code to an existing theme. There was not a great deal of code involved in my case, but there is plenty you'll likely need to learn about how to do responsive design. And a lot will depend on your current theme, and whether its structure is compatible with common responsive approaches.
All that is to say, I found it ultimately more efficient to do the coding changes myself rather than adapt a third-party solution (modules or even existing responsive themes for D6).

ExtJs5 + Spinnerfield + Touch devices

I'm working on migrate a project Ext4 -> Ext5.
Beta users reasonable noticed, that current spinner fields with up&down triangles on touch devices are very hard to be used. They has small sizes and it will be much better to have (-) and (+) buttons rights instead.
Basically it is already done in Sencha Touch 2.4 or early and (in theory) may borrow (s)css from touch themes to ExtJS
I wonder may somebody did this trick ? Or maybe there is a separate component?
meantime the issue is solved and it is very simple. Just need to use `ext-neptune-touch' or 'ext-crisp-touch' themes to get triangles away.

Drupal 7 and Acquia what are these?

Would like to know what does Drupal 7 and Acquia have in common?
I am starting a personal website and trying to get the best out of free source.
My understanding is that Acquia is a superset filled with best and enhanced features of Drupal 7, so is acquia free to install and use say if i want to host my website on godaddy?
Any other suggestions?
You have it pretty much right. Drupal is the base technology and Acquia is adding value by packaging and support. I think they also provide themes and a bunch of other stuff on top of Drupal. And it's free to use and host yourself if you want. I have not used them personally, but they have been around a long time so I think it's worthwhile to investigate what they have. The Drupal documentation is sometimes very hard to use, so there is significant value in having someone package collections of Drupal modules and provide additional documentation and support.
Aquia also includes a stack installer for Windows, Mac & Linux (similar to MAMP, etc.) It is worth noting also that Acquia is the company co-founded by Dries Buytaert, the orignal creator of Drupal. Dries serves as the CTO of Acquia.
