As a developer, can I count on XBAP? or is Microsoft slowly removing support in favor of Silverlight?
One of the selling points of XBAP is multi browser support (IE and Firefox).
However, the Firefox add-in for XBAP is not in the .NET 4.0 install.
I understand there was a security issue but this has been a while and Microsoft has not released any new add-in.

I'd like to convert my Windows Phone app to a silverlight web app, while keeping most of the code intact (so I don't have to maintain 2 different code bases). I've never built a Silverlight website before so I'd like to get some advise on how I should go about doing this.

Use the MVVM pattern and have device specific views. Take a look at MVVM light wich is a good framework for MVVM.

I have been hearing and reading lots of rumours around Silverlight 5 being the last release of Silverlight for the PC. Is this true? Is it just rumour?
Its a rumor until Microsoft announces it! :) And no announcements has been made on that.
So start by waiting for the official Silverlight 5 release. After that, we will see if Microsoft still pushes for Silverlight on PCs.
Indeed its not reassuring to see that the Plug-ins are not supported in Windows 8 Metro mode. But Silverlight will stay for sure (at least for mobiles) since its the main development platform of Windows Phone 7. They just cant abandon it.

With windows 8 demonstrating 'native HTML 5 apps'.
The first thing that I think of is whether WPF has a place in this HTML 5 world. It kind of seems like Silverlight will stick around but I must ask : Where does WPF fit into the bigger picture microsoft is painting ?
All that's been said is that this (and where Silverlight , XNA, and C++ fit in) will be announced at the BUILD conference in September. Lots of rumors and speculation, but no announcements.
It's too early to tell. Just because Microsoft demoed a particular feature doesn't mean it's dropping everything else.

It seems to be that Silverlight is rarely mentioned or seen anywhere on the net these days. Even DotNetRocks rarely give any serious time to discussing this technology other than saying they "love" it.
Silverlight seems to be shifting to a development platform for Microsoft's other products. It currently is a major part of Windows Phone 7, and is rumored to be coming to the XBox360.

How/what is the best way to access a user outlook while out of browser in
Silverlight ?
I'm looking for sample code to start making queries on a user e-mail box
after the user installs a silverlight app.
I know this busts most if not all of the silverlight security sandboxes, but
installing elevates the app trust to that of the user.
