I used the code from question Wpf treeview - i want to animate the expansion of the nodes, but the animation doesn't work on the first expand, it does work for the consequent expand events.
any ideas?
Here is a solution:

so im quite new to Wpf and was trying to animate something like this particular Animation:
Example
I found something like that to make an Colour Animation:
<EventTrigger
RoutedEvent="TextBox.MouseEnter">
<BeginStoryboard>
<Storyboard SlipBehavior="Slip">
<ColorAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="border"
Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background.Color"
To="Blue" Duration="00:00:00.2" />
</Storyboard>
</BeginStoryboard>
</EventTrigger>
<EventTrigger
RoutedEvent="TextBox.MouseLeave">
<BeginStoryboard>
<Storyboard>
<ColorAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="border"
Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background.Color"
To="WhiteSmoke" Duration="00:00:00.2" />
</Storyboard>
</BeginStoryboard>
</EventTrigger>
Its just change the Color but I want to make it slide from left to right like the example, I know there is Blend to edit those kinda stuff. But I only know how to animate Objects to move but not how to slide the Color From Left to right.
My TextBox style looks like this now, could someone give me a Hint how to manage what I want to get?
<Style x:Key="TextBoxStyle1" TargetType="{x:Type TextBox}">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemColors.WindowBrushKey}}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource TextBox.Static.Border}"/>

and here my CheckBox, where I Open that Style:
<CheckBox x:Name="toogleButton"
IsChecked="{Binding toggleButton, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged, Mode=TwoWay}"
Content="CheckBox"
HorizontalAlignment="Center"
Style="{DynamicResource CheckBoxStyle1}"
Width="30" Margin="371,222,399,213"
/>
This happens because you are hardcoding the width and height values. Instead you will have to bind value of width and height and use a converter to add the gap.
<Border x:Name="checkBoxBorder" CornerRadius="55" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}"
BorderThickness="0" Background="White" HorizontalAlignment="Center"
Grid.ColumnSpan="2" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5" VerticalAlignment="Center"
Height="{Binding ActualHeight, ElementName=templateRoot,Converter={StaticResource MinusFiveConverter}}"
Width="{Binding ActualHeight, ElementName=templateRoot, Converter={StaticResource MinusFourConverter}}">
Converters are quite easy to implement. For your case, you will need two different values to make an ellipse.
public class MinusFiveConverter : IValueConverter
{
public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture)
{
return ((double)value) - 5;
}
public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture)
{
throw new NotSupportedException("Cannot convert back");
}
}
Add the converter to the resources
<Window.Resources>
<local:MinusFiveConverter x:Key="MinusFiveConverter"/>
This is a screenshot of the element with different heights. I messed up the alignment.
If you are creating elements for different sizes, try to avoid using margins and fixed value sizes.

I need to show some options, some ones are marked as favorites with IsFavorite property. I want to show a diferente color when IsFavorite is active. I used two datatriggers for it
<DataTrigger Binding="{Binding IsFavorite}" Value="True">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="{DynamicResource PN_ColorFondoAcentoClaro}"/>
</DataTrigger>
<DataTrigger Binding="{Binding IsFavorite}" Value="False">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
</DataTrigger>
They works pretty well, but my mouse hover now shows nothing. Thats why I tryed
<Storyboard x:Key="SetHoverBackgroundStoryboard">
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame
KeyTime="0:0:0"
Value="{StaticResource PN_ColorAlerta}" />
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>

<Storyboard x:Key="RestoreBackgroundStoryboard">
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame
KeyTime="0:0:0"
Value="{StaticResource PN_ColorFondoAcentoClaro}" />
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
SetHoverBackgroundStoryboard sets my background like hover, but when I use RestoreBackgroundStoryboard don't know how to use IsFavorite to show my original color again.
There is a way to combine DataTrigger and EventTrigger to solve it?
How to avoid loose hover background effect when DataTrigger change my control background?
or
What I'm doing wrong?
You could use a DataTrigger to combine several conditions, for example that IsFavorite is true and IsMouseOver is also true:
<MultiDataTrigger>
<MultiDataTrigger.Conditions>
<Condition Binding="{Binding IsFavorite}" Value="True" />
<Condition Binding="{Binding IsMouseOver, RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}}" Value="True" />
</MultiDataTrigger.Conditions>
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Red" />
</MultiDataTrigger>
I have a ListView styled using the WhistlerBlue.xaml resource dictionary, as downlaoded from Codeplex: WPF DataGrid Themes from Silverlight.
I want alternating (odd & even) rows to have a different background colour.
I have added the following code to the default WhistlerBlue ListViewItem style (within the ControlTemplate.Triggers section):
<Trigger Property="ItemsControl.AlternationIndex" Value="0">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="White"></Setter>
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="ItemsControl.AlternationIndex" Value="1">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="AliceBlue"></Setter>
</Trigger>
I have also set the ListView style's AlternatingCount property to 2, but the alternating style triggers are still not working.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
I've pasted the complete ListViewItemStyle below.

Apparently the ListViewItem ControlTemplate was overriding the style triggers for alternate row colours.
Since I was not using the storyboards in the ControlTemplate (I had set their Duration to 0), I solved the problem by just using Style Triggers, without styling the Template, as shown below.
<Style TargetType="{x:Type ListViewItem}" x:Key="ListViewItemStyle">
<Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{StaticResource ListViewItemFocusVisual}" />
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="1" />
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="5,2,5,2" />
<Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center" />
<Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Stretch" />
<Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center" />
<Setter Property="Height" Value="23px" />
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{StaticResource OutsideFontColor}"/>
<Style.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="ItemsControl.AlternationIndex" Value="0">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="White" />
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="ItemsControl.AlternationIndex" Value="1">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="AliceBlue" />
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="AliceBlue" />
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="IsSelected" Value="True">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource BtnOverFill}" />
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource selectedStroke}" />
</Trigger>
<Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="True">
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="#FFbbe9fd" />
</Trigger>
</Style.Triggers>
</Style>
I know this doesn't solve the problem if the ContolTemplate needs to be styled, but at least this was enough to satisfy my requirements.
Hope it helps somebody in the future.
At ExpressionDark.xaml for example:
find this: <Style TargetType="{x:Type ListViewItem}">
and find <Rectangle x:Name="Background"..
change the property value Fill to Fill="{TemplateBinding Background}"
and, inside the <ControlTemplate.Triggers> add this:
<Trigger Property="ItemsControl.AlternationIndex" Value="1">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="#FF474A51"></Setter>
</Trigger>
Hope this helps anyone, else as beginner for wpf i am having hard time finding things specially i am on vb.net, very hard to get direct sample codes using mvvm, etc. :( cruel world.
I have looked around on stackoverflow and the internet but haven't found an answer for a specific problem. I want to create a TabControl/TabItem combination that acts like a left nav. I am still new to XAML (only using it for a few months now) and I cannot figure out the best way to accomplish this. I also want to add a small arrow icon to the currently selected tab header. In the end I would like it to look similar to the design shown in dnrtv episode 115 featuring Billy Hollis' great design, he mentions that this is a TabControl that has been styled to look like it does. Check out this link and go to 4:43 to see what I mean: dnrtv Billy Hollis
So far I have been able to get this far from searching for almost a whole day online:

This code gets me the headers on the left and some look but I need to figure how to add the icon when a TabItem's IsSelected property is true. Also, I'd like to eliminate the borders if at all possible. Please let me know if I am barking up the wrong tree and need to style it differently.
Should I use a DataTemplateSelector or something like that? I'd like to do it in all xaml but if that is not possible than that's okay.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The TabItem headers grow and highlight on selection or mouseover instead of bolding. To add a little > on it, just create the path you want on there, and add a visibility modifier to the trigger you want to fire it (more than likely the IsSelected Trigger).
