SQL Server cluster install issue - sql-server

I am going to install SQL Server 2008 Enterprise cluster on Windows Server 2008. I am wondering whether I have to setup a Windows domain (or active directory) in order to install SQL Server cluster?
thanks in advance,
George

How to install sql2005 on sql2008r2?

I am poorly experienced in SQL Server installations. I have already installed 2008r2 on Microsoft Windows 8.
Now I want to install MS SQL Server 2005, but I need both MS SQL Server 2008r2 and MS SQL Server 2005.
How can I install this?
You can install both versions on same computer..
From MSDN:
SQL Server supports multiple instances of the Database Engine, Analysis Services, and Reporting Services on the same computer. You can also upgrade earlier versions of SQL Server, or install SQL Server on a computer where earlier SQL Server versions are already installed.
There's a couple of problems here; firstly SQL 2005 isn't even compatible with Windows 8. Windows 7 you can just about get away with it with some patching. Next you need to install the instances and tools in version order. So SQL 2005, then SQL 2008.
You could try uninstalling SQL2008, but you'll probably find too many updates and bits have occurred to get back to a state that might allow you to try doing SQL2005.
My recommendation would be; format the host machine. Install Windows 8. Setup HyperV virtual machines for each version of SQL Server in an operating system that's more inline with the SQL product. Eg. Win2003 for SQL2005. Win2008 for SQL 2008.
He's a block post of doing this to create a manageable developer workstation running every version of SQL Server: http://www.purplefrogsystems.com/paul/2016/05/using-hyper-v-and-powershell-to-create-the-perfect-developer-workstation/

Azure SQL Server VM with personal SQL Server production key

I created an Azure SQL Server Standard VM. As the price page showing, VM with SQL Server installed will charge additional SQL Server fee.
Now I found I have a SQL Server Enterprise key. After I upgrade my pre-installed SQL Server Standard version to Enterprise version, will I still be charged the SQL Server fee?
Thanks

Yes.
If you want to use your own key, you have to strat from a regular Windows Server VM (and not SQL Server VM). Then, on top of that Windows Server, you install your version of SQL Server with your key.

Install Vuze ISO on pre-existing vitual machine

I have an SAP environment on a Vuze Windows 2012 R2 VM and the when i start the ECC the disp+work.exe fails and stops. This is because SQL Server 2014 "Standard" is installed and SAP only support "Enterprise" editions of SQL Server - as per note 63988.
My Microsoft Partnership is not valid for an enterprise key so I have an option to deploy with Vuze. Though the only option I see is to deploy SQL Server 2014 Enterprise as its own VM not actually install it on the existing VM.
Does anyone know about deploying the ISO's on Vuze to an existing VM or if I do deploy SQL Server 2014 as its own VM, will I be able to point SAP on VM "Y" the the SQL Server on VM "X"?
Thanks for any help
my MSDN subscription finally came through and now i have access to an Enterprise download =D

Liferay on SQL Server suggestions

does anyone has any experience of installing Liferay using SQL Server as database ? Any particular problem with installation or performance ? Which version can I use? Maybe I have to use a legacy instance SQL Server 2000
Thanks
Liferay can be configured with any database that supports JDBC driver, which you can download from Microsoft to SQL Server 2000.
See liferay configuration details from here: http://www.liferay.com/web/guest/community/wiki/-/wiki/Main/Database%20Configuration#section-Database+Configuration-IncludingTheJDBCDriver
I have installed the portal using the provided Hyper SQL and migrated to both DB2 and MySql without a problem (demo data needs to be deleted anyway after deployment).

Registry entry for different SQL Server

Which are the reliable registry entries to see install versions of SQL Server? Like if I have 2005 and 2008 both installed on my machine, how can I check this in registry? Also how to check which is the default one?
