does anybody know of a tool that will allow for viewing of database schemas and the data within it? Im using a Mac and need to view a mySQL database. Basically something like phpmyadmin that runs as more of a stand-alone app and can connect to any mySQL db.
I have found Aqua Data Studio but it is too expensive.
Thanks for any suggestions

The best stand-alone graphical Windows mySQL client is HeidiSQL. There is a Java version in the late Alpha stage that runs on OS X and is, if probably not usable yet, definitely worth keeping an eye on: jHeidi

Database Workbench have free lite version

I like Squirrel-SQL (free open source) and DB Visualizer (has a free closed-source version).

You can give MySQL Workbench ( http://www.mysql.com/products/workbench/ ) a try ...

I am using Sql server management studio 2012 . I want to share my database tables with my friend having different server. Like I am using git and me and my friend working on same project when i code i commit and push and he pulls the code . We want the same thing for database , like i add or update table and then commit and push but the problem is that i have different server and my friend has different. So there will be problem in connection string . Is any software or tool exists that resolve my problem .
If you want a tool for this you can use the redgate source control tool.
Another option would be if you could make your SQL server publicly accessible. By doing that your friend and you could work on the same database.

i want tool for to generate DB diagram below, i need to generate particular db tables structure like below,
how can i do that?...is there any free tool or application is available for that. i already tried navicat8lite_ora_en and HeidiSQL. but i can't make it work.
Yes you can generate ERD with PHPMyAdmin. PHPMyadmin added this functionality from version 3.4
detail step to generate ERD: http://sforsuresh.in/generating-erd-using-phpmyadmin/
You can refer to PHPMyAdmin documentation for more info: http://www.phpmyadmin.net/documentation/#pmadb
MySQL Workbench will reverse engineer and engineer scripts for you. Output will be similar to what you have above, but not identical.
Try Vertabelo. It's an online database modeler working under Chrome. It is:
free to use,
OS independent,
allows versioning,
supports model validation,
generates SQL scripts for particular database:
allows sharing your DB model with other members of your team,
allows reverse engineering - so you can easily migrate your database to Vertabelo,
suports following databases:
PostgreSQL,
MySQL,
Oracle,
IBM DB2,
HSQLDB,
MS SQL Server.

My requirement is to migrate data from MySQL to PostgreSQL. Is there any free data migration tool which could do this effectively?
I have some huge data in MySQL which I need to convert to a PostgreSQL database. Henceforth I am looking for a data migration tool which could migrate tables (along with indexes, constraints, etc.) and data. I found Swiss SQL Data Migration tool to fit my requirement, but sadly it is not open source.
Is there some nice tool?
This list might help:

For pure data migration you might want to look into Kettle, an open-source ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) tool.

I am looking for web based tool like phpMyAdmin, but for SQL Server. Any suggestions?
This works and is under active development:
http://www.adminer.org/
I've also found this product which seems to support SQL Server
You could try some thing from the list provided by Microsoft. Microsoft also apparently has a web admin, but it's rather old from what I can see. I'm interested in this area as well, so please report back on your conclusions.
-THIS MIGHT NOT BE THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION-
if you have sql server managment studio(its free) you can connect to a SQL Server database remotely
I do not want to make self-ad, but definitively myLittleAdmin is what you're looking for. Note most of the serious windows webhosting companies are providing myLittleAdmin as a service to all their customers who use MS SQL databases.

I have a MSSQL2005 DB with about 140 tables. I want to create either an accessible diagram or a printable API type document with the table structure. Is there a program that offers this kind of db visualization?
I find the diagramming built into SQL Server to be very clunky and very inaccessible for my DB size.
Take a look at SQL Doc.
I always used Visio for this type of thing.
I like Toad Data Modeler for this. It reverse-engineers Microsoft SQL Server databases (and other brands of databases too), but more than that, you can start making your modeling changes inside the tool and it'll generate change scripts.
If you use somebody else's tool, make sure that you can round trip changes - meaning, if you put all the time and effort into getting your documentation right, and then you change the database inside SQL, can you re-import your changes from the database without overwriting your work in the documentation tool? Most of 'em don't do that, but Toad Data Modeler does.
(Disclaimer - I work for Quest. I used this program before Quest bought it, though, and always loved it.)
