Back at Tech Ed in 2008, Microsoft announced that:
IBM and Microsoft have agreed to work together to integrate IBM DB2 database access with Visual Studio Team System Database Edition.
-- Microsoft Press Release - 6/3/2008
Has anyone seen evidence that this has actually happened? More importantly, has anyone had success moving DB2 projects to VS 2010?
We have some DB2 database projects that rely on the IBM Database Add-ins for Visual Studio 2008. I have been unable to find any mention of 2010 Add-Ins on IBM's site and they only support the add-ins through forums. I asked about VS 2010 support on the forums and got no response.
It looks like the beta for VS 2010/.net 4.0 support is finally out. I'll follow up after we've done some testing.

I tried to solve my problem by using community and enterprise (trial) version of Visual Studio 2015. Couldn't solve it. Hope somebody can help me.
I want to generate a report by using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). In some tutorial I see there are SSAS, SSRS & SSIS under templates | Business Intelligence when a new project is opened in Visual Studio. In my case, I don't see it as shown in the following picture:
If I check (my OS is Windows 10 64 bit) System Settings | System | App & features, I see SQL Server Data Tools 2015 is installed (strangely I have 2 SSDT) as seen in below.
I see similar problem (Missing Reporting Server templates in Visual Studio 2013 + Business Intelligence SSDT) for VS2013, in which the reporter has used 32 bit SSDT tools. Is this valid for VS2015 also? What I should do for VS2015?
I develop the SSRS and SSIS project in Visual studio 2012 and When i open it on visual Studio 2015. both project is not loaded. then I download the SSDT and updated Its start Working

ssdt bi for the visual studio 2015 stack over flow Answer
Install sql server enterprise or business intelligence ctp 3.3, install VS2015 professional and finally install the latest SSDT.
Uninstall previous SSDT installations.
Download SQL SERVER.
In Visual Studio go to Extensions and Updates and look for SQL SERVER DATA TOOLING. If the update doesn't appear, go to this page in the third point, download the setup for your regional settings.
If it doesn't work tell use what is the exact VS2015 version.
This might be a trivial error in my setup but I cannot seem to find where I went wrong in stalling SSDT 2013 with SQl Server and having the open to create a new database template
please see image
what I expect to be in the list in a sql template with the option to create a new database project
could someone tell me what i'm missing ?
Thanks in advance
For database projects you'll need to install a version of Visual Studio that supports it - in your case it looks like you ran the standalone SSDT-BI installer which installs SSIS, SSAS and SSRS templates. This doesn't include database project templates. What you need is to install one of the VS versions with support - there are 2 Express versions (Express for Web and Express for Windows Desktop) and 3 paid versions (Premium, Pro, Ultimate). Here is a quote from the SSDT blog post explaining this:
Visual Studio 2013 - VS 2013 now has SQL Server tooling built in and shipped as part of the core product. Database Projects, SQL tools (such as schema compare & data compare), and the online experiences through SSOX are all included with the RTM version. We have full project and SSOX support in VS Express for Web and Express for Windows Desktop, so we have discontinued our stand-alone integrated shell offering. We have a component update feed that will use VS Update to push notification to users. To manually check for updates, go to the Tools > Extensions and Updates... menu to open the dialog. We will continue to post announcements on our blog and forum that a release is available and what is included in that update.
What version of Visual Studio 2013 are you using? You need to have either the Ultimate, Premium or Pro version for SSDT (Link).
If you do have the right version of Visual Studio then you may need to re-run the installer and opt in to SQL Server Data Tools during setup.
I had this issue and resolved it several years ago. I needed to reinstall SSMS with Data Tools. Unfortunately I am encountering the same issue now, but luckily I had documented the issue at the time. I am finding that because there are newer versions of both VS and SSMS, it is hard to find the proper downloads.
From my documentation (3 years ago) None of the attempts to correct the Visual Studio install directly (SSDTBI_x86_ENU download from Microsoft) were successful, but once we did a complete reinstall of SQL Server 2014 which included the Data Tools, the needed template was available in the Add New Project dialog, and the previously incompatible projects found in GitHub******Report.sln were now compatible.
I want to download full versions of visual studio and SQL Server. Are the dreamspark versions full, or just express?
They are the full versions.
Q: What Microsoft software does this
site offer?
A: DreamSpark has loads of products!
You can see the entire list by
visiting the DreamSpark home page all
of them are listed for easy access.
Oh, and by the way? These are the
serious versions for serious people.
We’re talking, the big-time stuff.

They are full versions.
Here are some extra characters since that answer is too short.
They are full versions, but they aren't the highest versions.
In particular, they give VS 2010 Professional, not Premium or Ultimate.

Can be done here.
Hope this helps.
Where do I find the SSIS tools in Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate? I'm at a new job so new computer / new setup / new everything. I can't find them anywhere! Is there a specific edition of SQL Server that includes these tools?
The DB is SQL Server 2005, SSMS is 2008, VS is 2010.
It is not yet available in Visual Studio 2010.
"First of all, thank you to those customers who have offered feedback
regarding how your work and productivity are impacted by Integration
Services (SSIS) not yet being available in Visual Studio 2010. As
developers ourselves, we certainly understand the frustration you have
reported in having two Visual Studio instances installed and
maintained on your development machines. While this side-by-side
configuration works, it is certainly a less ideal solution to
operating SSIS from within VS 2010. Unfortunately, the staggered ship
cycles of the two products (VS and SSIS) and some convoluted
dependencies did not allow us to reunite the development environments
of both tools until the next version of SQL Server.
Meanwhile, please be assured that SSIS projects continue to be
supported by Visual Studio both now and into the foreseeable future.
Until the next version of SQL Server, we will be happy to discuss with
any Visual Studio 2010 customer ways in which they can optimize the
interoperability of VS and SSIS. We apologize for any inconvenience
and are committed to improving your user experience both now and in
the future."

I have a MS-SQL database on a server and have decided to play around with source control for the database. I want to create a database project and include that project within my solution. Is there any way to "import" an existing database into a database project in Visual Studio 2008?
I have run a few searches but I haven't really found anything of substance yet. Any ideas will be welcome!
Thanks
Yes. If you have Visual Studio 2008 Team System, then the Database Edition GDR release 2 add-on is the way to go.
You can download from here: Microsoft® Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR R2
You can find a list of features here.
Also, Introducing New Features In The VSTS Database Edition GDR
Update: In response to poster's comment about not having the Team System version, you can still use the original Database Project that comes with Visual Studio, but it is not as fully featured as the new GDR R2 version.
