well i had a site in sharepoint with silverlight web parts, they all woked fine until i restored that site in another server, and now silverlight web parts are blank but show the silverlight menu, i tested silverlight in the same server in another sharepoint site and it worked fine, also i checked the web.config all looks ok, what could be wrong?
im working with iis 7 and win server 2008 and it works ok with normal sharepoint site but not this restored site =/
Have you added the .XAP MIME type to the server?
Have you tried to see if Silverlight can load all its assets? Images, xap files, etc.
You can use a tool like Fiddler.
well this sharepoint site can load a image slide show made in silverlight as shown in http://www.wssdemo.com/Blog/archive/tags/Silverlight/default.aspx
but it cant load xap files =/

After fresh install I get the problem when ControlBar is showing like this in IE10:
and does not respond to any actions.
And Google Chrome shows the website like:
Start by checking to see why your IIS site isn't serving up STATIC Files. Looks like your CSS and Images aren't loading.
Also, make sure the site is not running in Compatibility Mode or you didn't accidentally place the site on the Compatibility list.
You can also try hitting F12, going to the Network tab and refreshing the site. This will let you see if any resources (css/js) aren't getting loaded (404).
First my apologies if I failed to find an answer searching - I tried a variety of search topics but none that were directly related.
I have a Lightswitch app deployed and working fine, running on IIS 7 and Windows Server 2008. It is an internal intranet app only.
I am using only FORMS AUTHENTICATION, all others are disabled.
The app works fine for MOST windows users.
However, some windows users get nothing but a blank screen - no login, no "loading..." and no silverlight "98%" display.
In the IIS log, I don't even see where it looks like it is being accessed when they attempt to load the app?
So, my question is, since this is FORMS authentication only, what could be causing it to NOT work based on which windows user is trying to run the app?
In other words, on the same Windows 7 machine, it works for 10 users, but not for others.
by the way, the application is remote - it is not running on the local machine.
The users ARE able to access the other ASP.NET applications hosted by the same IIS server in the same root inetpub folder.
The lightswitch application is using the ASP.NET v4.0 Classic app pool in calssic managed pipeline mode.
Any help greatly appreciated!!!

On the users machine you need to use Fiddler or the F12 tools in Internet Explorer to see exactly what calls are being made to the server and which ones are failing. LightSwitch is just an ASP.net website that launches a Silverlight application.
So the only other thing I can think of is that those users do not have Silverlight installed on their machines?
The users need to install the latest version of Silverlight. Apps built with LightSwitch 2011 require v4 or above and those built with LightSwitch for Visual Studio 2012 require v5

I need someone to point to right direction in both silverlight in WPF video streaming.
I have two projects, one is a Silverlight web page and the other is a WPF project. The goal is, on the WPF application the user is able to upload a video to the server, and the Silverlight web page streams it using a any web protocol (most likely http).
I'm using Expression Encoder SDK to build the code that re-encodes the video files (since the original video files will be very big, over 1gb each), and so far I think I've got it right, but now I need to stream it on the web, and I'm not being able to do so.
The silverlight web page is hosted on a Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.0.
I've been reading about IIS streaming, but everything I find points that every time the user wants to add a video, it must go to IIS interface and add it manually, and that cannot be the only way, since the user knows nothing about IIS.
If possible I would like some code examples on how to achieve streaming through IIS, and some pointer on what I could do, or am doing wrong...

I dont see why user have to manually do it everytime in IIS. From your WPF app, make it store your video in a specific location inside your IIS. Also do a one time configuration in your IIS to deliver the video extension you are uploading, if its mp4 or wmv, give it the MIME type, "application/octet-stream", so when a user requests it, it will be delivered by IIS.
No, configure your silverlight app to read the file from your IIS directory (you must be knowing the filename it got saved in IIS in the first place.)
If you need to have a "streaming" experience, IIS won't be enough, you will have to use a streaming server like windows media server or flash media server.

I've found a very small sample showing Silverlight SQL connection (http://www.codeproject.com/KB/silverlight/CntDbSlght.aspx), I've tested it and it works fine on local system, also I've changed its connection string so that it shows data from my remote database, but when I upload files to my host, I cannot see any SQL data, it seems that something is broken, how should I configure my web.config?
What are CrossDomain.XML and ClientAccessPolicy.XML files? should I upload them? If so, where should they be? How should I bind my service? what am I doing wrong? I click on VS2010 publish (in build menu) and select file system, then I upload all files existing in this folder, I use C#.
If you are trying to access an external Silverlight web service from your local dev environment you certainly need a ClientAccessPolicy.XML file on the website. This tells the site services where requests can come from (normally only from the same site the SL app was run from).
Your ClientAccessPolicy.XML file needs to go into the actual root of your website i.e. 'mydomain.com/ClientAccessPolicy.XML.
*Note: You do not also need a CrossDomain.XML if you have ClientAccessPolicy (which is the SL specific one). CrossDomain.xml is an older flash compatibility file that sometimes exists on sites.
I am new to Sharepoint. I wrote a simple RIA MCF silverlight app which runs all the queries right on my server. Now I tried make it available on a Sharepoint testing site. I loaded the xap file but Sharepoint throws me tons of load operation exceptions when it tries to load the app, apparently having problems with the EDM in the app. What do I need to do here? Is the xap the only thing I need to load on the shared documents folder?

There are few steps you need to follow to load the Silverlight XAP in sharepoint.
You need to create RIA service as an independently hostable web application (.svc)
Follow the guidelines available here
Once you have the solution ready. Host service on IIS and make sure that it is functioning correctly.
Configure the .svc in the web.config of the hosting web application and access the same in your silverlight application as below

Load the xap on sharepoint site and in the configuration section provide links to .svc services.
