Cognos : Persisting Checkbox state across Multiple Pages - checkbox

On the Cognos Report Results Page, we need to have a checkbox for each row.
The checkbox is designed using HTMLITEM tag.
However, the problem we face is that the state of the checkbox (checked or unchecked) is not persisted when we go to the next page/previous page.
I am very new to Cognos and I need to know if there is a way to do this.
I am fairly good at JAVAScripting and JSP, but since we only have access to HTML elements and not JSP Tags (Cognos uses CGI anyways), I cannot get the request object.
If there is some way to retrieve the request objects parameters of previous submit(previous page), that would help in solving the issue to a large extent, I feel.

There isn't really enough information on what your end goal is to be able to assist you with this properly. There are a few ways that spring to mind that would allow you to use JS on the report to remember previously checked items, but there may be a much better way to do this depending on your requirements.
Without having more details, the first thing that leaps to mind is simply having some JavaScript set and unset cookie values on check/uncheck on the checkbox.
Note, there could be a variety of other ways to work this, including upping the number of visible rows per page, etc...

You can create a dataitem in a query where you can determine whether your checkbox should be checked or not. In the design of your list on the report page you can render a HTMLItem within the list, and base the HTMLItem on a DataItem. Your HTML must than be something like
<input type="checkbox" value="""+ [DataItemValueToPass] + """ " + [DataItemCheckedOrNot] ></input>

How to force two instance of the same app (DNN/2sxc) to read from the same stream?

Sorry if my question is silly but I'm new to DNN/2sxc, I've spent the whole day trying to figure this with no success..
I have two instances of the same app, one in the home page and the other on its own page, each one must have its own view template (I use Razor).
My problem is I cannot figure a way to make the two apps read the same data, so every add/edit/remove/re-sort in one of them will be reflected to the other, currently each app has its own data and therefore they are unusable in my case.
I've tried to use a 'EntityTypeFilter' inside a 'Data Query' and use it in both views (as in the News-Simple demo video), it worked and gave me all the items in the two views, but another two problems come with this solution:
1- now I'm unable to use the toolbar to (add/remove/reorder,.. etc) any of the items , as you can see in this image, which is a show-stopper for me,
note: this is the toolbar I use:
#foreach(var item in AsDynamic(Data["Default"]))
{
...
#Edit.Toolbar(target: item, actions: "new,edit,replace,remove,moveup,movedown,instance-list")
2- the 'Content Demo Item' is also visible in the list, but it is not that important since I can delete it and use one of the real data items as a demo item.
I appreciate any kind of help.
Thank you.
So the first thing you should know is the difference when using content-items as data (to query, etc.) and when using it as assigned-items (where each module-instance has a subset of items). Here's the blog that should help you understand the difference: http://2sxc.org/en/blog/post/12-differences-when-templating-data-instead-of-content
So when you want the "manually and easily control the exact items displayed, their ordering etc." you want to use the "content-assigned-to-instance" which also gives you the simple add, delete buttons, as these don't really delete anything, but just remove the assignment from the module-instance.
Now your case is a bit special, in that you want to re-use the exact same set in another module-instance. There are a few ways you can do this:
Same View
if it's exactly the same view etc. just duplicate the module using DNN-features (the add-existing-module-to-another page)
different view
if it's a different view (maybe more compact, etc.) you again have multiple options. The first is to mirror / duplicate using the dnn-feature, and just put an if-im-on-this-page-then-show-differently or inject another CSS. That's probably the easiest without any dev-know-how.
The harder, but possibly nicer way, is to actually to use a new template, and tell it to retrieve the items in the way they are configured in the other module - let's say module 1 is the original, module 2 has a different template wanting to access the items of module 1 in exactly the same order as given in 1. They way to do this is simple, but requires a few lines of C# code in Module 2.
You need to create a new ModuleDataSource (https://2sxc.org/en/Docs/Feature/feature/4542) object and tell it that it's from Module 1. If you've never done this, it's basically that your code can create a query just like the visual designer, but you have more control - see the wiki https://github.com/2sic/2sxc/wiki/DotNet-DataSources-All. The Module-Data-Source in the visual-query-designer doesn't allow you to "switch" modules (a advanced setting we may add in the future) but the object has a ModuleId property which you can set before accessing the data, making it "switch" to that Module. here's the Pseudo code in your Module#2 razor...
var otherModData = CreateSource<ModuleDataSource>();
otherModData.ModuleId = 1;
foreach(var itm in AsDynamic(otherModData["Default"])) {
...
}
That should do it :)

Specify Angular Schema Form Select drop down options using scope

I've been looking at using Angular Schema Form to define all my forms for my project but one thing that stood out to me massively is that when we define a select/drop-down element, the values have to be specified then and there in the JSON. This doesn't strike me as very flexible as I want these values to be retrieved from my Angular controller/factory as they are currently available on the scope.
I've done quite a bit of searching on how to get round this but haven't found a definitive solution or anything that worked for me so I decided to try to extend the Select myself and add a mapping to the schemaFormDecoratorsProvider.
I have followed the documentation for Extending Schema Form, and now have an HTML snippet which defines my Select control and this is being rendered when I define it in my JSON schema. What I want to be able to do is to specify the ng-options attribute either in part as a whole via the JSON schema. I have tried to do this but nothing seems to result in the select options being rendered.
Here is part of my select control:
<select ng-model="$$value$$"
ng-model-options="form.ngModelOptions"
sf-changed="form"
schema-validate="form"
ng-options="item.value as item.name for item in form.titleMap"
ng-disabled="form.readonly">
</select>
Where ng-options is defined, I want to be able to either specify titleMap in my JSON and it be resolved to an object on my scope or I can pass the name of the collection in my JSON and then pass that in where form.titleMap currently sits.
Anybody had any experience doing this? To me is seems like a fairly reasonable requirement but can't find much help on the web about it.
Many thanks.
There are add-ons designed to support dynamic data selection, the library has no preference and leaves it up to the developer to select the most appropriate for their needs, however I built the Material Design decorator to include the capabilities of angular-schema-form-external-options in the decorator so the add-on is not needed. The bootstrap decorator does not have this capability at this stage.
The angular-schema-form-external-options library is basic but covers most requirements for simple dynamic drop down data population
The angular-schema-form-dynamic-select is a more robust and feature full option with a variety of configurable options.

Show Opportunity related Contacts in Custom Object Field

I have the next issue.
I have a custom object called 'Application', and I have this requirement:
"Show all Contacts related to an Application. Create a field on Application object, must be read only".
I solve it with apex code. 'Application' has a lookup to Opportunity, Opportunity to Account, and all my contacts have AccountId, so this way, I get all the contacts using apex code in a trigger.
But, I've been ask to change this to a Formula field in Application object.
So, my issue is next. I'm not able to get all contacts with advance formula editor, because they're not part of any object. I have no master-detail relationship.
Does any one know how can I achieve this using configuration? I should not use apex code for this req.
Thank in advance guys.
I don't think you can do it.
In formulas / merge fields syntax there's no way to go "up, up then down" (Application -> Opportunity -> Account -> down to Contacts related list). There's also nothing that would let you loop through Contacts (and display what? Ids? Names? Emails?). Roughly speaking you can only go up through dots.
You might want to explore path of "cross object workflow" rules but I imagine that when I add a new Contact to Account it should somehow "spread itself" to all related Applications? There's no straight way to fire a workflow on delete too - so you'd eventually end up with inaccurate list.
I'd say trigger was a good solution. Maybe it ws unoptimized but if it has to be in a field - tough.
There might be a fairly simple way of achieving that by embedding a visualforce page within Application page layout.
This should be doable with pure Visualforce (so technically there will be no Apex code ;))
Something as simple as
<apex:relatedList list="Contacts" subject="Application__c.Opportunity__r.AccountId" />
would be a good start (if you want your own layout and not a rel. list - you should be still able to pull it off with <apex:repeat> or <apex:pageBlockTable>.
There's one BUT here: it's not a field, just a display trick. Forget about using it in reports, mobile applications etc.
Another way - would it be acceptable to be 1 click away from these contacts? You could make a report "Account with Contacts", filter it by Id of one Account and later use "URL hacking" to change the filter depending on from which Application you'll click it. This link could be either a formula field or a real custom button/link. Technically - it's pure config, no apex & VF.
You can read more about URL hacking at Ray Dehler's excellent post and specifically about dynamic Reports here or here.

how retrieve only selected checkbox values in action class in struts 1.3

i am new struts i am developing web application in which i have a requirement that i have to show records in tabular format i have made use of display tag in struts with every record i have a checkbox now i need to retrieve the values of those checkboxes in my Action which are checked . but what i am receiving in Action array of all the checkboxes. actually while displaying checkboxes by making use of display tag all checkbobes have got same name therefore i am not understanding how handle this care i have searched on google but did not find suitable situation
<display:column title="Service">
<input type="checkbox" name="sercive" />
</display:column>
how to handle this situation not understanding .could anyone give some sample code
or hint to handle this situation
I am not sure about display tag.
But in struts you have to define a property in Form bean (i.e. ActionForm) of type String[] or List with the name same as defined for your check boxes.
Then in Action class you will get the array of selected checkboxes only.
If this is not working. Then you can try of getting the values using request.getParameter("service"). This will return comma separated list of selected checkboxes which you can convert to array using split() method and then you can continue with your logic.
I hope this helps you.
Plain HTML checkboxes are only submitted if they're checked, that's just how clients work.
You must provide a differentiating factor, generally a value (e.g., a service ID in your case), to determine which has been selected. Your action form would contain a collection of those IDs.

Salesforce.com visualforce between 2 objects

In salesforce I need to create a visualforce page that includes the fields of 2 objects. The first object is the QUOTE object. The second objects is a custom object with several fields.
I want to create a visualforce page that shows the records of both QUOTE and the new object. Can I do this without creating a custom controller? If no any hints on the code for this new controller?
Can I do calculations between fields in a visualforce page?
Ideally I want this page to appear as soon as the QUOTE is set to ACCEPTED
1: You can't do this without a custom controller unfortunately, unless one object is related to the other and you're just happy displaying it as a related list on the parent object's page. For calculations you could use rollup summaries for some basic sums etc..
As for a custom controller, have a look at field sets for a super easy way to get fields into a VF page, you essentially configure groups of fields on your objects and then you can stick those groups onto a page with minimal markup.
2: For fields with complex calculations you'll want to do the sums in the controller and then expose the results through variables onto the page in the usual manner.
3: Not really possible without creating a custom edit page in the first place — you'd be better off having a button on the quote page to open up the Visualforce page, that page can simply display an error if the quote is not yet accepted. There are some other alternatives that might work though, like using a forumla field to generate a link to the page when the status is as you desire.
I'm happy to elaborate on any of this, but the fact that you're asking about number 2 would suggest to me that you don't have much experience developing on the platform (not a dig, just an observation), so unless you're comfortable coding in other environments you could find this quite tricky. That said, you're on stackoverflow so I'm thinking you probably know a little about coding at least!
