I am facing issue with Salesforce and DocuSign integration where SF limit 12mb presents problems for large files that need to be signed.
What would be best approach to work around this issue? My current idea is to somehow externalise flow. Use CometD to listen some (probably custom) event from SF and my app would then use GET REST call to fetch those files from SF. GET REST call to SFP supports up to 2GB. Once I have them plan is to put them in the envelope using DocuSign SDK. When the documents are signed I would retrieve them and store back to SF.
Where I struggle in this flow is the beginning and the end. What would trigger that event? Some custom LWC app? And where/how to put those files back to SF.

I want to implement a connected OAuth app in Salesforce which should trigger push events in case some entities changed, for example an opportunity was closed.
Zapier implemented something similar
https://zapier.com/apps/salesforce/integrations/webhook
Could not find something I need which is a simple way to subscribe to entity changes using the OAuth client's token and passing a webhook endpoint. I read about apex callouts, streaming API and outbound messages.
Yeah, we solved this exact problem at Fusebit and I can help you understand the process as well.
Typically speaking here's what you need to do:
Create triggers on the Salesforce Objects you want to get updates for
Upload Apex class that will send an outgoing message to a pre-determined URL
Enable Remote Site Setting for the Domain you want to send the message to
Add in Secret Verification (or other auth method) to prevent spamming of your external URL
If you're leveraging javascript, then you can use the jsforce sdk & salesforce tooling API to push the code into the salesforce instance AFTER the Auth flow has occurred AND on Salesforce Instances that have API access enabled (typically - this is enterprise and above OR professional with API enabled).
This will be helpful for you to look through: https://jamesward.com/2014/06/30/create-webhooks-on-salesforce-com/
FYI - Zapier's webhooks implementation is actually polling every 15 minutes, instead of real-time incoming events.
In which programming language?
For consuming outbound messages you just need to be able to accept an XML message and send back "Ack" message to acknowledge receiving, otherwise SF will keep trying to resend it for 24h.
For consuming platform events / streaming API / Change Data Capture (CDC) you'll need to raise the event in SF (Platform Event you could raise from code, flow, process builder, CDC would happen automatically, you just tell it which objects it should track).
And then in client app you'd need to login to SF (SOAP or REST API), subscribe to channel (any library that supports cometd should be fine). Have you seen "EMP Connector", mentioned for example in https://trailhead.salesforce.com/en/content/learn/modules/change-data-capture/subscribe-to-events?trail_id=architect-solutions-with-the-right-api ?
Picking right messaging way is an art, there's free course that can help: https://trailhead.salesforce.com/en/content/learn/trails/architect-solutions-with-the-right-api

New to the forum :) - first post. I am trying to set up DocuSign in Salesforce for a client and keep running into an issue when trying to create an envelope template. Some context: my client has a DocuSign Business account (not Gen/ Negotiate), I have added the documents, and can add non-merge fields fine. The only issue is when I try to place the merge field, not create it, I receive an error:
Save Error: Some fields might be out of sync. Unable to connect to the service. Failed to connect to the salesforce service.
So far I have tried: adding IP addresses to Salesforce, removed MFA authentication for API, I have tried clearing cache and cookies, in different browsers, and in incognito mode - no success. I think I just have missed a step in set up? OR is this just not a feature of the client's current account and they need to enable the "Gen" feature to use merge fields?
Appreciate the help - I am also new to Salesforce administration and coding - so I am learning as I go and bear with me if I am not picking up all the "lingo" up front.
It sounds like you're using the legacy DocuSign for Salesforce package if you're not using Gen/Negotiate, so there are typically a couple of issues that could cause the error that you're seeing. The first is a caching issue, so you could try in an incognito browser or by clearing cache and cookies for the browser.
The other issue could be that the connection between DocuSign and Salesforce was broken and needs to be connected again. If that's the case, you could follow the steps in this article. If you're still running into problems, I'd advise to reach out to the DocuSign support team so that they can take a look with you (https://support.docusign.com/).
I am trying to create an Event using Microsoft Graph SDK, as following the document #
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/user-post-events?view=graph-rest-beta&tabs=csharp
1.Created "authProvider"
2.Created GraphClient with above AuthProvider
3.Creating Event using
The event is not creating also no exception/error is throwing, Could any one help me here?
This is happening because this call is being made with same transactionId frequently. It avoids unnecessary retries on the server.
It is an optional parameter , just comment out this property and try again. It should work.
Note : This identifier specified by a client app for the server , to avoid redundant POST operations in case of client retries to create the same event and also useful when low network connectivity causes the client to time out before receiving a response from the server for the client's prior create-event request.
More info is required here, as the reply from Allen Wu stated. without any details I would focus my efforts on the authprovider piece and azure app registration piece. as the rest of the example is just sending a post request to graph api.
but what is recommended really depends on what type of application you are trying to build. eg. is it a service daemon, a web app, mobile app, desktop app, single page app, etc.
There is search support (experimental) for python and Java, and eventually Go also may supported. Till then, how can I do minimal search on my records?
Through the mailing list, I got an idea about proxying the search request to a python backend. I am still evaluating GAE, and not used backends yet. To setup the search with a python backed, do I have to send all the request (from Go) to data store through this backend? How practical is it, and disadvantages? Any tutorial on this.
thanks.
You could make a RESTful Python app that with a few handlers and your Go app would make urlfetches to the Python app. Then you can run the Python app as either a backend or a frontend (with a different version than your Go app). The first handler would receive a key as input, would fetch that entity from the datastore, and then would store the relevant info in the search index. The second handler would receive a query, do a search against the index, and return the results. You would need a handler for removing documents from the search index and any other operations you want.
Instead of the first handler receiving a key and fetching from the datastore you could also just send it the entity data in the fetch.
You could also use a service like IndexDen for now (especially if you don't have many entities to index):
http://indexden.com/
When making urlfetches keep in mind the quotas currently apply even when requesting URLs from your own app. There are two issues in the tracker requesting to have these quotas removed/increased when communicating with your own apps but there is no guarantee that will happen. See here:
http://code.google.com/p/googleappengine/issues/detail?id=8051
http://code.google.com/p/googleappengine/issues/detail?id=8052
There is full text search coming for the Go runtime very very very soon.
I can't find anything recent on this. Is there any documentation on how to track with Google Analytics without using ga.js? I want a JS implementation on mobile devices but I don't want to load up 9KB of local memory or use server-side GA. I'm primarily interested only in tracking page views and uniques. Has anyone rolled their own GA implementation?
You can track using just a gif file.
To use GA without javascript... do it by generating our own gif file and passing some information back to Google through our server. That is, we generate a gif, assign and track our own cookie, and then gather that information as you move through the site, and use a HTTP request with the appropriate query strings and pass it back to Google, which they then compile and treat as regular old analytics.

Here is a detailed explanation for how its done.
