I'm using the DataGrid2D component (installed via NuGet) to allow me to bind a 2D array to a datagrid in a .Net Core 3.1 WPF project using Prism.
https://github.com/GuOrg/Gu.Wpf.DataGrid2D/blob/master/README.md
Everything works it's just that the designer breaks and VS gives me the following warning for the code snippet shown below:
The Attachable Property 'Array2D' was not found in type 'ItemSource'
Here's the alias I included in the top of the xaml page:
Any ideas how to resolve this?
Sadly I think this may be just one of countless bugs in the WPF designer.
Does it work when you run it?
You can try a sad loop of closing vs, git clean, rebuild etc. and maybe it goes away.
I'm developing a WinForms application using Visual studio 2013. I have two user controls and 1 custom control in my project. Unfortunately for some reason they are not appearing in my toolbox at design. At one point they did briefly but disappeared and never returned. I have tried resetting the toolbox, checking the AutoPopulate option and made sure that my project is built. I've seen solutions about adding controls that exist in their own library but these exist within the same project. My classes also have a namespace and the ToolboxItem(True) attribute.
Thanks
I'm a big fan of the rather obscure "Document Outline" window in VS 2008 (it's buried in the View -> Other Windows menu).
It's the only way I know to get a view of the containment heirarchy for a complicated WinForm that has a lot of nested controls.
Some months ago, this just stopped working for the most complicated form in my WinForms project. Now it just displays "There are no items to show for the selected document", no matter what I select in the designer.
No clue as to what broke it - the form contains a mix of common MS controls and some third party controls (mainly DevExpress). Several SplitContainers, but Document Outline originally had no problem with these.
Anybody else seen this, and any suggestions on how to fix it?
After some poking around, I solved the problem myself.
I just started deleting controls from the form, to see what would happen.
Turns out the 3rd party grid I'm using caused the problem - when I reconfigured it, the problem went away. (Looks like a bug in the control, which I've reported to the vendor).
Interesting...misbehaving controls can break the VS IDE, not just your apps.
I am using:
Visual Studio 2010 Professional,
Silverlight 4 Toolkit
The WPF Designer don't show (invisible) - while the Component Toolbox is showing the relevant controls, and the Windows->Windows option shows the designer to be active. It does this with ALL XAML for me, regardless of its complexity. I have already tried the /ResetSkipPkgs to no avail. I had CodeRush and DevExpress installed (demo) version but removed both since. I can get along with XAML by switching to Source Code /Text Editor, but this really boils my chops to run the app to find out that I have made a silly mistake in my XAML (while a preview would sort it out quicker, and no, please don't suggest Expression Blend for it is non-nonsensical for me to switch continuously between these applications).
When I however switch the WPF Designer to open with Encoding I get the following error - which I assume is related to the issue for not showing the XAML Editor/Designer in non-encoding:
An Unhandled Exception has occurred
Click to reload the designer
System.NullReferenceException
Object Reference not set to an instance of an object.

at MS.Internal.Designer.TabbedEditorPane.MS.Internal.Designer.ITabbedEditorService.get_DesignerContext()

I have googled it silly, to no avail. I am thinking about reinstalling Visual Studio - but this REALLY is a last resort. I hate fixing things by reinstalling, rebooting etc.
Any guru with the magical answer?
I got the exact same exception today and solved it by killing a few GDI hungry apps. You can see the number of GDI objects a process is using in the Processes tab of Task manager (you will probably need to add the column using View -> Select Columns).
Hmm, I know this is old, but you should try installing SP1 for your Visual Studio if you haven't yet.
We're working on a Windows Phone 7 prototype application and we need a Graphing/Charting control to work with. We looked at the Silverlight Toolkit, which has some controls that look like they would work great. However, we can't get that to work. Whenever we add a control to the XAML from that toolkit, it will throw an exception when trying to load the XAML at runtime, even though it appears to work in the designer. I think that it's because there's some dependencies that the phone doesn't actually support.
Does anyone know how to fix the problem or know of charting software that works on Windows Phone 7?
Here's an example of code that doesn't work. We downloaded and installed the 4.0 beta of Silverlight Toolkit. Added the DLL as a reference. Added this to import the namespace:
xmlns:c="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls.DataVisualization.Charting;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.DataVisualization.Toolkit"`
then added this to make a chart:
<c:Chart>
<c:PieSeries>
<c:PieSeries.ItemsSource>
<l:IntList>
<sys:Int32>23</sys:Int32>
<sys:Int32>2</sys:Int32>
<sys:Int32>1</sys:Int32>
<sys:Int32>34</sys:Int32>
</l:IntList>
</c:PieSeries.ItemsSource>
</c:PieSeries>
</c:Chart>
the designer shows the pie perfectly, however when I try to compile and deploy it throws an exception saying that it can't find the MainPage.xaml. Which leads me to believe that MainPage.xaml isn't compilign correctly (not sure, as I'm still a newbie at Silverlight)
Here's the exception:
System.Windows.Markup.XamlParseException occurred
Message=2255 An error has occurred. [Line: 36 Position: 2]
LineNumber=36
LinePosition=2
StackTrace:
...
on this line:
System.Windows.Application.LoadComponent(this, new System.Uri("/Twitpic;component/MainPage.xaml", System.UriKind.Relative));
You can probably reuse some of the things provided by the silverlight toolkit, which is open source:
http://silverlight.codeplex.com/Wikipage
You might have to recompile some stuff against the win phone APIs, but it should work :-)
It looks like someone else has had the same issue as you and solved it by using the Silverlight Toolkit version 3

Just found these free WP7 charts: amCharts for Windows Phone 7
If you are looking for great charting on WP7, I suggest Visifire. Note that its a commercial offering. Has gesture support too! I've seen very less charting vendors who've optimized charting for mobile-form-factor like these guys do.
You can try MS Toolkit, if you are looking for free basic charts.
Playing around more, I was actually able to get Visifire to work. Just had to browse and add the reference to System.Windows.Browser. I don't know if this is the best way to make it work. But it'll do until the Silverlight Toolkit gets updated.
Macadamian team developed and gives for free a Chart Control. You can pick it up at http://themobileexperience.macadamian.com/2010/05/chart-control-for-windows-phone-7.html

Just a quick plug for my own graph control I recently released to open source:
Check it out, it scales to hundreds of thousands of points and responds to pinch,zoom,translate and tap gestures:

A couple of options worth a look.
