Creating a feed of calendar events that users can subscribe to - calendar

I know there is some way to create a feed of calendar events that users can add to their calendars and have new events be automatically added to their calendars. I don't know the name of the technology used and searching wasn't bringing up much.
What is the technology used for creating these calendar feeds?

Found the thing I was looking for. It's called CalDav and uses the iCal format for data.
Some more info on Wikipedia.

Is there a ui library that renders a calendar using an ical feed from Google Calendar?

I need a Calendar UI for my website that will take in an ical feed from the user's Google Calendar. I know I can use the embed code but the look and feel of the embed Google Calendar is horrible. I am hoping to find a library that has a better UI than the embed Google Calendar.
Try using the UI Calendar using AngularJS to handle your calendar frontend.
You may also check FullCalendar which is customizable and open source.
If you're not satisfied with any of the libraries/projects available online, you can always start a new one. Hope that helps.

Show iCal subscription as busy for other coworkers

Is it possible to subscribe to an iCal feed in Outlook and overlay it in your own Outlook Calendar and show it as busy/out of office for other people when creating appointments?
The scenario is as follows: we have a scheduling program that makes work schedules for our employees. This program can output ical feeds so our employees can subscribe to those feeds on their mobile phones. At our office we work with Outlook and we would like that the iCal feed would also be displayed and updated dynamically on every employees calendar. For the employee this is visible but not for other people trying to create an appointment via Outlook.
Best regards,
Rémy
You'd have to have two kinds of feeds:
one normal one with all the details for the individuals feed, that perhaps
only they know the url for, and
another feed that issues VFREEBUSY components https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5545#page-60 instead of VEVENTS. THE VFREEBUSY component then just has the FREEBUSY info

Google Calendar, events of all calendars

I'm using the gdata library for java provided by Google. In particular I'm working on the Google Calendar lib, following the guide:
https://developers.google.com/google-apps/calendar/v2/developers_guide_java#RetrievingDateRange
Using Google Calendar, it is possible to add other calendars, for example about holydays, football and so on. The guide shows how to get events about your calendar but not about all calendars saved.
How can I do it? It is weird because getting user events it returns a list of Entry about Events, but getting all events it returns a list of Entries about Calendars (applying more or less the same code)
Thank you in advance.
Finally I found an answer. I'll publish the link for who is interested.

Writing application with a calendar feed

I am writing an application that provides a calendar feed for people to subscribe to. Changes may be made to the calendar feed up to moments before the event occurs, and it would be really nice if those changes could be propagated out to all subscribers when this happens.
The only solution I have today is to provide an iCal format so that people can add it to their Google calendars (the most popular for my target audience), but Google calendar seems to be especially slow to notice changes.
Is there a way to force Google calendar to re crawl my url if a change occurs?
Is there another way to provide a calendar feed to people that may work better for my needs?
I'm not sure what technology you are using, but have a look at the Google Calendar Data API.
The Calendar Data API lets you incorporate Calendar functionality into your own application or website. You can edit calendars, create and delete events, send invitations, and more.

Standalone Calendar App/Software

We're looking for a standalone (non-cms) calendaring solution to display on the web. It could be open source or a paid service.
We're primarily looking for a way to display a calendar on the web complete with when the events are and what the names of the events are. It would be great if it can display in different views like by week, month, year. Month view would be the most important one. We want to keep it as simple as possible. We mainly just want users to view the calendar. The events do not even have to be editable on the end user's side just as long as there is some way for us on the backend to add/delete/import events into the calendar whether it be through .ics (iCal files)/desktop software/via some web interface. We know Google Calendar is around and there is also PHPiCalendar. Are there any other alternatives around?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Here's a pretty cool calendar built on jQuery.
