Clickonce restart failing every third build and publish - winforms

I'm having trouble with ClickOnce and a WinForms application, .Net version 4. I can install the application and it works fine with say version 2.1.79.1.
I then do nothing except change the publish version to 2.1.79.2 and recompile and publish. When I run the app it updates correctly and restarts without a problem.
Then I do nothing except change the publish version to 2.1.79.3 and recompile and publish. When I run the app it appears to update correctly (no error messages) but when the app tries to restart there is a message that says 'Application cannot be started' and I get the 'Value does not fall within the expected range' error listed below.
So I uninstall the program and then reinstall. Version 2.1.79.3 runs fine.
I do nothing except change the publish version to 2.1.79.4 and recompile and publish. Everything is fine. I change to version 2.1.79.5, recompile and publish, everything is find. I change to 2.1.79.6, the update seems to run but restarting the app gives the 'Value does not fall within the expected range' error.
I am literally doing nothing between these builds except changing last number of the Publish version on the Publish tab in the project properties. No code is being changed. Every third build and publish is consistently failing in this way.
Does anyone have any idea what could be happening or any suggestions as to how I could troubleshoot this?

Migrated SSRS Server will not load reports

I started this process back in November with this question: How to migrate an existing SSRS setup to a new server?
I was able to migrate everything to the new server without any issues. There were no errors on any of the tabs in the Report Server Configuration Manager. And the Reporting Service started with out errors. I was able navigate the expected "directory" structure through the web interface. However, when I tried to execute a report, upload a report or manage the report I received an error dialog that read "An error has occurred. Something went wrong. Please try again later." This isn't the most helpful error, so I went to the Report Service error log and found this exception in the log:

I spent a few hours looking this error up with no solution. It could be that I was pretty fried and I missed something, but any guidance would be appreciated.
You may find its faster to create a SSRS project in SSDT, import the reports and redeploy them. You may have to recreate the data sources but in my experience this is the fastest way to get it done.

And Sorry For My English

Why am I getting "Unable to load the specified metadata resource" error?

I have an MVC5 web application which I usually develop using my laptop.
I am trying to get the app running on my main machine at home for home-working days but have a problem connecting to the local dev database on SQL Server - when I start the app I get the following error:
More info 30/11/16:
Note that the model is generated from EDML using Entity Developer
Unable to load the specified metadata resource. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
The solution consists of 2 projects, one of which is an entity model project which is generated from EDMX.
Note: On my main machine (where it isn't working) the connection string in Web.config is the same as the machine where it works except for Data Source which refers to the SQL Server name on the main machine - I have checked this is correct several times:
I have read several Stack Overflow posts with similar issues - most point to something wrong with the path to the csdl, ssdl, msl part of the connection string.
I have:
Checked the server name is correct in the connection string
Checked the database name is correct in the connection string
Checked the database exists and is available
Checked each of the three files are where the connection string says they are (they are)
Tried using wildcard in the connection string: res://*/dllname.csdl|res://*/dllname.ssdl|res://*/dllname.msl
Update 30/11/2016:
From the suggestions in this link I have:
Checked the MetadataArtifactProcessing property - it is not set to Copy to Output directory
Checked the connection string
We don't have a post-compile task
From the suggestion in this link I have tried setting the connection string connectionString="metadata=res://*/;

There's a very popular question over there and from its rating I can assume it helped a lot of people. It even mentions a blog post with complete troubleshooting for this problem. Also, this answer looks like something you didn't try yet.

Reporting Services 2005: Attempt to export to Excel gives "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error

I have a moderately complex report consisting of a lot of subreports.
One particular one is causing an issue: if you run it standalone, it works fine. If you integrate it as a subreport, it refuses to allow you to export to Excel format (from Preview), with the following error:
An error occurred during local report processing.
An error occurred during rendering of the report.
An error occurred during rendering of the report.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Producing to any other format works fine. Most of my Googling thus far has said "Reinstall Reporting Services", which I really don't want to do (I reinstalled for a previous issue, and it took me a good day or so to get everything happy again - possibly more), especially given it's not a guaranteed fix.
I don't know if it's significant, but the reports do make us of Dundas Charts, which may make it more difficult to parse.
Anyone know a better solution?
Update:
When I try Exporting to Excel on the report server, it gives me this:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

I ran into the same issue with the below statement. Everything works fine as expected except when exporting to excel.
=iif(ReportItems!textbox343.Value>ReportItems!textbox344.Value or ReportItems!textbox346.Value>ReportItems!textbox347.Value,"Yes","No")
Here is the fix. Added braces and voila voodoo magic it works.
=iif((ReportItems!textbox343.Value>ReportItems!textbox344.Value) or (ReportItems!textbox346.Value>ReportItems!textbox347.Value),"Yes","No")
I believe that the Excel export of a report containing subreports is a known issue in SSRS 2005 and is addressed in 2008. I don't know if the upgrade is an option for you?

The vs2008 designer for reports and report viewer are not backwards compatible with 2.0. In the same way you cannot design 2005 reports with vs2008 - that may be your issue.
I had something similar once. You might want to make sure the test machine has the ReportViewer dll installed in the GAC. Microsoft has created an installer to make this easier.
Question: Are you using Reporting Services in local mode with a report viewer control inside winforms?
My installer copies all required dlls
Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common.dll
Microsoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel.dll
Microsoft.ReportViewer.Winforms.dll
to ProgramFiles/myAppname folder.
It works perfectly on Vista/XP but the issue is at Win98.
I'll try to install these dll's at GAC, maybe that's a problem. I'm trying to avoid running extra installers inside my installer.
#keithwarren7:
if that's true, then it's really stupid. do you know any simple & free report engine for .net 2.0?
