I have deployed a site via Google App Engine. The site is updated for all browsers expect for Chrome on Windows Desktop and Mac. Why is it so happening?
After a long time breaking my head on this problem finally I got the solution, the problem was very very very silly and irritating
The extensions attached to my browser namely Ad Block was causing the older version to be presented whenever I used to visit the site.
So the solution is:
Disable the extensions and see which silly extension is causing the trouble

I am currently working on a app that I am hosting on Google Cloud. I tried everything in the documentation but may have had the command 'default_expiration: "30d"' in the app.yaml file. I got rid of it but it won't let me push the latest version of my app to make it live. I tried everything I could think of such as 'gcloud app deploy --promote --stop-previous-version' but to no avail. How can I get the latest version of my code live using Google Cloud App Engine.
Cheers,
EDIT:
If I go to the latest version as 'www.version.app-name.appspot.com' it shows the latest version; however, in the App Engine Versions panel, it shows that version with 100% of traffic allocated to it even though when I go to 'www.app-name.appspot.com' it displays a very old version.
I tried deleting all the old versions on the App Engine Versions panel, including the version that is being displayed, and it still shows the old version when going to 'www.app-name.appspot.com' but going to the exact version number displays the correct version. The newest version shows 100% of traffic is being sent there.
Cheers,
It now magically works so I will post the steps I did. I managed to debug it and find out that the version with all the traffic according to the App Engine Version panel wasn't the version being displayed, so, I deleted all the old versions on the Version panel and then it still wasn't working. It was still the same error, that the newest version was not being displayed when visiting 'www.app-name.appspot.com' so I waited around half an hour and now it is displaying the correct version at the main address. See the question for more debugging information.
Cheers,
I have been successfully using Netbeans to develop and deploy an app to the Google App Engine for ages through various application versions. That is all working normally and fine.
However (the problem), through the same account I created a new application (at the Google end) and at the application end the correct application id is in appengine-web.xml with a version of 1. All runs locally perfectly. But as soo as I deploy to GAE it fails:
com.google.appengine.tools.admin.HttpIoException: Error posting to URL:
404 Not Found
This application does not exist
Unable to update app: Error posting to URL: https://appengine.google.com/api/appversion/create?app_id=
404 Not Found
This application does not exist (app_id=u
Why??????
I have spent hours looking through the web for a solution. Lots of people have a similar problem but what is the solution? How can one app upload fine and the second fails?
PLEASE can someone give me some suggestions on how to fix the problem and successfully deploy?
I use Netbeans and have tried 6.9, 7.1, and 7.2 (I even tried installing Eclipse to solve the problem but it was horrendous to get going so I'm back to Netbeans). JDK 1.6.
Help!
Of course it works this way. After finally seeking help (from you chaps), within minutes I solve the problem (blind luck).
In case it helps anyone else, the basic issue was Google's account authentication model...
I needed to generate an application-specific password in Google Accounts (https://accounts.google.com/IssuedAuthSubTokens#accesscodes - that is, the Authorized Access to your Google Account area) to be used with the new application.
Then I needed to clear the existing email/password in Netbeans. This is a bit messy as I did that by deleting the 'deployment.properties' file you eventually find in C:\Users\User.netbeans\7.1\config\Preferences\org\netbeans\modules\j2ee\appengine.
You'll note I went back to Netbeans 7.1 because Netbeans 7.2 seems to store it in a different place which I couldn't find.
Back to Netbeans and hit the 'Deploy to Google App Engine' menu choice. It starts then asks for authentication. I used my normal (account) emailid and then the NEW application specific password. Miracle of miracles, it worked and the app fired up live.
I went and got a coffee
Perhaps Google could provide a slightly more meaningful error code than 404 Not Found???
Hopefully that helps anyone else with a similar problem.
Today, I had kind of the same problem. After some trial and error I found the solution.
Basically, starting from Netbeans 7.2. up, username and password are stored in something called "keyring".
In Windows 8 I found it under my current users directory: AppData\Roaming\NetBeans\7.3.1\config\Preferences\org\netbeans\modules\keyring.
I had to delete the GAE password information from the configuration file there. Then I cleared some registry keys (that might not be mandatory) and restarted Netbeans IDE. Then got prompted for new credentials.

I'm hosting my website using Google App Engine. It's a pretty simple website, but I've got some javascript drawing to a canvas element, which I'm trying to test on my iPhone. I'd also like to take a crack at reworking my CSS for mobile. However, I can't access http://localhost:8080/ (which is the url that GoogleAppEngineLauncher spits out when I run the app locally) from my phone. This seems obvious.
Unfortunately, it seems that Mountain Lion has removed the web sharing preference from system preferences. I found at least two different sites with "solutions" for re-activating web sharing (Apache server?), but none of them seem to work in conjuction with Google App Engine... I also tried this preference pane, which also doesn't work. I keep getting "Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server."
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm a relative noob to this stuff. Also, I see a lot of questions here on SO which seem related, but I think I'm still too uninitiated to understand how they're releated. Is there an extra step here that's GAE specific which I'm missing?
This isn't anything specific to your OS. By default, the App Engine dev server binds to the loopback interface, making it accessible only to your machine. If you want to access it from other machines, you need to pass the --address=0.0.0.0 flag to the dev server - which you can do in the launcher's preference pane.
As of March 2013 - the "address" argument has been renamed to "host" - (at least for Python version of the app engine)
--address=0.0.0.0 argument not working after upgrading to App Engine 1.7.6
I'm getting some strange issues with google app engine serving old versions of files. I have included some logging in one of my servlets and deployed to google app engine several times over the last 24 hours. However, instead of seeing the logging i added, I'm seeing logs from a previous version of the file every time the servlet runs.
I've tried changing versions and redeploying but this doesnt seem to fix the problem.
I'm using Eclipse Juno with the app engine plugin if that makes a difference.
Any ideas what I can try or what I might be doing wrong?
I had a similar problem recently, and that I fixed by logging into appengine.google.com>MyAppIdentifier>(Main)>Versions and selecting the current version as the default.
This should not only serve your latest version, but also use the latest version for log viewing and other administrative tasks.
In the logs, make sure that you're checking the correct version:
Otherwise redeploy to a brand new version and check that version explicitly directly from the version url that can be found under the Versions section.
Make sure that before redeploying your APP after making changes you Remove Launch and Remove All Terminated launches by pressing the double cross buttons next to the "clear console" buttons on the console window in Eclipse...I hope this solve your problem.

Not sure if this is an account or billing specific setting, but I found that App Engine started not updating to my latest app deploy once I reached 50 Versions in my App Engine list.
After deleting a bunch of old versions (taking down to 30) on next deploy it picked up my latest changes immediately.
It could be due to caching issue. Try reloading the website by adding a query parameter . Eg <website-url>?q=1 and see if changes are reflected
Open the url -> latest-version-number-dot-website-url . Latest version number can be obtained by clicking on version menu item on the side bar as seen below
If you have app.yaml file in your source code. Try removing headers related to caching and deploy and check to confirm its a caching issue. Caching headers could be of below form
Cache-Control: public, max-age=604800, immutable
Also make sure your project compiles correctly and doesn't contain any errors. I had this problem basically because I was deploying old compiled code, while it gave me an error "you have errors in your project, are you sure you want to deploy?"
I tried all the suggestions on SO, but ultimately, I found the best fix.
Because I transferred domain names and web hosting, I neglected to change my Domain's Resource Records. After making sure my code worked properly with the application (appname.appspot.com), I created a Custom Domain found in Console menu > App Engine > Settings > Custom domains
After you add the custom domain, make sure you change your Domain setting's CNAME www alias to the prescribed value (for me it was ghs.googlehosted.com).
Since changing that CNAME value, all of my subsequent deploys updated immediately. Hope this works for you and all others. Happy coding!
The gcloud (at list in python) has problem with line 'skip_files' in app.yaml,
So you can try the old method of deploying app with app engine,
use appcfg.py instead of gcloud.
see how in https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs/standard/python/tools/uploadinganapp
I deployed my app successfully on GAE (Java), and the thing works as expected under Chrome (and others) under MacOS X. Today at work I wanted to test my app on IE 9.0.8 / Vista, and the app won't load.
My app displays a "loading" message on the page until all objects of the UI are loaded. When I load the UI I also fetch some data using RPC. When the job gets done the loading message disapears and my app shows up.
As I don't see any error or Exception / nothing special in the app engine logs, how can I start to find the bug ?
The only difference I see is that, at work, my computer goes online trough many firewall and proxys, but as i can open the page and login it should not be a problem. But anyway, just after I login (using google accounts, not openID) the app "hangs". Ideas ?
You should start by inspecting network connections in IE9 to see if everything loads as expected. See also GWT tricks for IE9.
Try running your GWT app in dev mode, this way you should be able to see the client-side errors in the GWT console. Client-side error messages are not displayed in Web mode, unless you implemented code to handle them.
