I would like to try and get the XAML interface to my powershell scripts to be displayed within a webpage, with the code running on the client rather then server side, or at least best to the solution as that.
Web development is not my strong point, I am just a techie really.
It strikes me that the company Sharepoint should be ideal.
After leafing through the internet, I can not see no sign of any answer.
Surely it should be possible! I was expecting a mixture of C# \ Silverlight \ WPF \ XAML \ Powershell solutions .
This is the main reason I built the script with XAML rather than WinForms, or am I just dreaming?
Would be great if I could get a yes\no and a basic idea of the technology to use please.
I found a good link from 'WonderBoy' who explains how to execute Powershell using PHP and IIS, this was the sort of thing I was looking for.

My goal is to write a desktop application created through Visual Studio which uses HTML5 and AngularJS to display a well put together front end to the user but which also allows for me to use VBscript so I can do read/write items, send things to the printer, and compose/send emails from their outlook automatically.
Can this be done and which options should I select when starting my project? I can not have this run through a traditional web browser since I am doing the above mentioned items which browsers won't let me do.
p.s. I just download VS 2015 community today. I have spent the day researching and finding lots of helpful information but nothing which answers this.
You don't need VBScript
You should check out Electron, with which you can develop desktop applications in Javascript / HTML5, and maybe, an AngularJS - Electron seed project to speed things up.
Now if you consider Electron, you can check out this answer about printing with Electron.
If you want to persist in this (which seems to be the best course of action in my opinion), you can find any informations about how to do this and that with electron by reading the docs, tutorials and basic google searches.
Don't hesitate to come back to SO if you have precise questions regarding code you already have.
I'm pretty much totally lost.. I've posted twice on the smartclient forums and gotten no help so maybe the people here are more friendly than their own staff. (it really bothers me but they appear to have the best software for what I'm trying to do)
I'm trying to wrap my head around how I would get one of their examples (the demo showcase ones which I have downloaded etc) on my web host, just to see how it works/play with it, but I couldn't find any forum guides or videos etc on this (documentation is really abysmal for people that don't speak code yet).
Is there some special back-end I need on my web host? Where can I go to figure out how to link the stuff together? Do I have to compile something using java.. etc.
I'm used to just editing stuff in notepad++, uploading it, and hitting refresh, but I'm guessing smartclient isn't that simple, or is it? (I'm just going to use it to make tables from excel spreadsheets that I can filter through, that's it, no fancy application).
Sincerely,
Mr. Totally Lost.
Everything is covered by the guide (page 6) : http://www.smartclient.com/docs/8.2/docs/SmartClient_Quick_Start_Guide.pdf
SmartClient embed everything needed, you will only need a valid JDK installation and the zip provided in their website.
Is there anyway to create more rounded/professional looking buttons using vba. I found a couple places that suggested using images, which is not a terrible Idea, but I was wondering if anyone had a clue if there is a downloadable software, add-in, or anything. The ones currently available make my program look like an Mid 90's application. I really appreciate the help. I mean look at it!!
Office VBA uses the Microsoft Forms Engine which is a lightweight (drawn) implementation of a GUI toolkit. Because of this the usual techniques used to customise button appearance on windows (owner-drawing/theming) don't apply and your stuck with what you've got.
If you don't want to use images you need to find an ActiveX control that does the job, something like http://www.arcadiahome.com/products/components/activex/powerbutton.htm .
I am tasked with the localization of a Windows Phone 7 application. The first step is to replace the actual visible text with an ID and put the ID and the text in a resource file.
This is a very tedious work and I was wondering if there are tools for this to automate?
I am thinking along the lines of the gettext package and .po files used in the linux world.
Here is a codeplex project that may help you some. http://xlocalization.codeplex.com/. To use this method, each control that is to be localized must have the name property assigned.
I tried it with my existing project, and got results that were mixed, but in the long run, I decided to do it by hand. I don't remember specifically what the problems were that I had, but if you want to try it on a copy of your project, it won't take much time. If it works for you (and if your controls to be localized all have names), it could save you time.
Also, I don't know how familiar you are with localizing, but I wrote a blog on the subject that takes you from start to finish. It's at http://www.hopnet.mobi, click Blogs.
Hope this helps.
I know this will get a lot of traditional answers, but I would also like to put forward something completely original we tried (and succeeded) doing ourselves for more efficient localisation of Silverlight using Attached Properties instead of binding:
Localisation of Silverlight projects after completion
To pre-populate the database we wrote a XML parser to find our markers in all our project's XAML files (XAML is just a subset of XML after all). We could not find any existing tools to do what you suggested, but our requirements were simplified by our new method of localisation (no resource files and no horrid bindings).
(yes, this is almost the same answer as a previous one of mine today, but it seems to fit again).
Also for future reference keep an eye out for this tool: http://www.neovelop.com/ This tool will go in private beta soon and looks very promising. Judging from their preview movie this will do exactly what you asked for.
I want to some very basic IronRuby tests, such as checking the syntax on a regular expression, and if possible would like to be able to do it thorugh my browser. Does anyone know of a site that hosts an IronRuby in Silverlight demo?
1) Have you found/already tried this?
http://silverlight.net/samples/sl2/dlrconsole/index.html
Note, this is an older build, so you might wish to follow my 2nd suggestion if you want something a bit fresher:
2) If you have built IronRuby recently from the latest source from GitHub
You should find a Tutorial (which runs in WPF or Silverlight) .
You'd find it here in the source tree
Edit: Also, I know Jimmy has posted recently about some additional work going into this tutorial, so I believe this is being actively worked on.
Edit 2:
3) Perhaps will or will not suffice for your needs, but there is also Gestalt for running IronRuby/IronPython in the browser. This is a recent interesting development from mix online labs.
John Lam, the original iron Ruby guy, has a tutorial for doing just what you ask at:
