How to create complex query parameters in Restangular - angularjs

I need to create a fairly complex query string in Restangular.
http://vdmta.rd.mycompany.net//people?anr=Smith&attrs=givenName,displayName,name,cn
How do I do this?
So far I am OK getting as far as ?anr=Smith using this:
return Restangular.all('/people').getList({anr:searchTerm});
The last part attrs=x,y,x lets me control which attributes I want back in the search and could change per request I make.
Any advice appreciated.
Regards
i

You should be able to simply add another query parameter where the value is your comma separated list of attributes.
var attributes = ['givenName' , 'displayName']; // attributes you require for the request
var attributesAsString = attributes.join();
return Restangular.all('/people').getList({
anr : searchTerm,
attrs: attributesAsString
});

Passing a Complex Parameter into a Query in AngularJs

I have seen 100 examples of passing an ID into $resource.get() in order to query information out of a back-end in Angular. What I have not been able to find is how to pass a complex object.
If I have a table of objects to return, and I wish to run a search against them using multiple items of filter, I need to pass those items as parameters or as one complex parameter. For example, say I have a table of people's names and their cities, states, etc. I want to be able to say something like this:
var myResource = $resource(url);
myResource.get({name : "Mike", state : "Texas"});
The return may be a single row or multiple rows. But the point is how do I get the parameters off to the API call?
The way I have other methods set up that are simpler is by creating a repository in which I return like so:
return resource('/api/broker/productionInfo/');
Then in my API I do this (after the [RoutePrefix("api/broker")] setup:
[HttpGet]
[Route("productionInfo")]
public IHttpActionResult GetProductions()
{}
That's all awesome but I want to be able to add the search criteria in the repository call and then in the API method (i.e. extract from a querystring or however it is to be passed).
If I understand what you are asking correctly, you just want to pass additional parameters into an angular resource get request. It is as simple as what you have already suggested:
resource.get({id: 1, custom_param_1: "param1", custom_param_2: "param2"});
This would result in an http request that looks like this:
/resource/1?custom_param_1=param1&custom_param_2=param2
You can then extract these parameters on the API side of things.
Something to note is that get requests have a maximum length, and if you are attaching lots of different parameters to the request, it may be better to use a post or put instead.
The only thing I'm seeing that you're missing is a [FromUri] decorate attribute, in your GetProduction API method. Since Get supports only params binding through a query string (no body binding).
Your params:
options: {
StartDate: _startDate
EndDate: _endDate
TextSearch: "some search query....",
Page: 1,
PageSize: 25,
et...
}
Then, calling your repository from your controller:
repository.get(options).$promise.then(function (data) {
// data = response payload from backend
});
reposiroty
....
return resource('/api/broker/productionInfo/');
....
API
[HttpGet]
[Route("productionInfo")]
public IHttpActionResult GetProductions([FromUri] SearchCriteriaModel criteria) {
....
}
Hope that helps.

Query arrays values with Firebase

Is there any way to on Firebae to filter data in an array?
I have this model on my Firebase:
-KABIGeWnBMUKjLTcvp8
deviceToken:"7DE60240CB4B712F05A009F32358610C1327917E7E68409..."
favorites
0:"Masha"
1:"moksha"
name:"juan"
And the problem is that I can't find any method to get all "users" that contain a certain value on the "favorites" array field.
Nope, that's not an option See firebase equivalent to sql where in ().
Instead: invert your data structure to make this query possible:
items_by_favorites
"Masha"
"-KABIGeWnBMUKjLTcvp8"
"moksha"
"-KABIGeWnBMUKjLTcvp8"
Now you can look up the item keys for Masha with a simple read: ref.child('items_by_favorites/Masha') and then load each item:
ref.child('items_by_favorites/Masha').on('value', function(snapshot) {
snapshot.forEach(function(childSnapshot) {
var key = childSnapshot.key();
ref.child('items').child(key).once('value', function(itemSnapshot) {
console.log(itemSnapshot.val());
});
});
})
First of all your question is answered deep in the guide for retrieving data, which is where I got this answer. It's under complex queries, then range queries, should you want more info.
var ref = new Firebase("https://dinosaur-facts.firebaseio.com/dinosaurs");
ref.orderByChild("height").equalTo(25).on("child_added", function(snapshot) {
console.log(snapshot.key());
});
The basic idea is that you need to first order the reference by a common child value, and then call .equalTo() to end up with a query that yields what you want.
Also you can call order by child like
ref.orderByChild("height/sublevel")
To drill deeper in the tree.
FirebaseFirestore.instance.collection('your collection name').where('favorite', arrayContains: 'Masha').snapshot();

How to Fetch a set of Specific Keys in Firebase?

Say I'd like to fetch only items that contains keys: "-Ju2-oZ8sJIES8_shkTv", "-Ju2-zGVMuX9tMGfySko", and "-Ju202XUwybotkDPloeo".
var items = new Firebase("https://hello-cambodia.firebaseio.com/items");
items.orderByKey().equalTo("-Ju2-gVQbXNgxMlojo-T").once('value', function(snap1){
items.orderByKey().equalTo("-Ju2-zGVMuX9tMGfySko").once('value', function(snap2){
items.orderByKey().equalTo("-Ju202XUwybotkDPloeo").once('value', function(snap3){
console.log(snap1.val());
console.log(snap2.val());
console.log(snap3.val());
})
})
});
I don't feel that this is the right way to fetch the items, especially, when I have 1000 keys over to fetch from.
If possible, I really hope for something where I can give a set of array
like
var itemKeys = ["-Ju2-gVQbXNgxMlojo-T","-Ju2-zGVMuX9tMGfySko", "-Ju202XUwybotkDPloeo"];
var items = new Firebase("https://hello-cambodia.firebaseio.com/items");
items.orderByKey().equalTo(itemKeys).once('value', function(snap){
console.log(snap.val());
});
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Doing this:
items.orderByKey().equalTo("-Ju2-gVQbXNgxMlojo-T")
Gives exactly the same result as:
items.child("-Ju2-gVQbXNgxMlojo-T")
But the latter is not only more readable, it will also prevent the need for scanning indexes.
But what you have to answer is why want to select these three items? Is it because they all have the same status? Because they fell into a specific date range? Because the user selected them in a list? As soon as you can identify the reason for selecting these three items, you can look to convert the selection into a query. E.g.
var recentItems = ref.orderByChild("createdTimestamp")
.startAt(Date.now() - 24*60*60*1000)
.endAt(Date.now());
recentItems.on('child_added'...
This query would give you the items of the past day, if you had a field with the timestamp.
You can use Firebase child. For example,
var currFirebaseRoom = new Firebase(yourFirebaseURL)
var userRef = currFirebaseRoom.child('users');
Now you can access this child with
userRef.on('value', function(userSnapshot) {
//your code
}
You generally should not be access things using the Firebase keys. Create a child called data and put all your values there and then you can access them through that child reference.

Access a Backbone model from a collection.where

I'm using the method where on my Backbone collection like so:
var quote = app.Collections.quotes.where({Id: parseInt(id, 10)});
However, to access the only result/Model (as it's by ID, there's only going to be one) - how can I get the actual Model without resorting to using this:
var onlyModel = quote[0] ?
Is there a better way?
A better way is to use get on the collection. http://backbonejs.org/#Collection-get
var quote = app.Collection.quotes.get(parseInt(id, 10));
Backbone proxies Underscore functions on collections and notably findWhere that will return the first match found.
findWhere _.findWhere(list, properties)
Looks through the list and returns the first value that matches all of the key-value pairs listed in properties.
Your query can be written as
var quote = app.Collections.quotes.findWhere({Id: parseInt(id, 10)});
But in your case, if you are indeed looking for the model with a given id, you can directly use the get method
get collection.get(id)
Get a model from a collection, specified by an id, a cid, or by passing in a model.
var quote = app.Collection.quotes.get(id);

ExtJS: better way to pass parameter to grid from another page

What is better way to pass some parameters(mbe post, get, cookie?) from one page to another to extjs script(second is the simple grid with json store)?
thx.
Better than what?
I use this function to get values from url string
Ext.ns('MyNamespace');
MyNamespace.get = function(key) {
var params = Ext.urlDecode(window.location.search.substring(1));
return params[key] || null;
}
//example usage
var ID = MyNamespace.get('ID');
I use it rarely however. Most of my components use Ext.Ajax.request() calls to get any parameters straight from the server.
