Is it possible to use different fonts or font sizes in the title of a JFreeChart object?
Using:
chart.getTitle().setFont(new Font("Tahoma", Font.PLAIN, 16));
allows one to set the font but I am trying to create a bold, large font-size title followed by an explanatory sub-title with smaller font size on the line below.
E.g. something like: "Intensive Care Infections / data from 2008-01-01 up to 2012-12-31"
Any other way to achieve this effect, if not possible in the title object?
You can add one or many subtitles using the addSubtitle() method in the JFreeChart class. The title is always drawn first, then the subtitles are drawn (by index order). Note that the legend is added to the chart as a "subtitle", so depending on the position you may want to insert your real subtitle at index 0 so that it is positioned and drawn before the legend.

I'm using ChartJS to display multiple charts on a page.
Each chart has a different dataset, and different labels (some have short labels, some have long labels).
Currently the width of the actual 'data-part' (the part of the chart showing e.g. Bars) depends on how much space the labels take. I would like to make all charts have a fixed size for the data-part, and let the labels take up the remaining size.
See for example the following screenshot. Here I display 2 charts, but the actual data-part is different for both, because one has shorter labels than the other.
What I would like is to set for example a fixed width of 400px for the data-part, and let the labels take the remaining space left on the page. That way the charts would be aligned perfectly above each other.
Even better would be if I could set that for each chart the data-part takes a percentage of the width (e.g. 70%), so the labels take the rest (30%).
I have checked the ChartJS documentation, but the only I can find it setting the width for the entire chart-component.
Cheeky solution - you can add a dummy chart before your charts having the same labels.
Let's call this dummy chart as chart D and your main chart as chart M.
In M, you would fix it's width and hide the labels by writing in options -
scales: {y: {ticks: {display: false}}}
Now you have a fixed data width.
In D, you would just display the labels and hide the data part (hiding grid lines, legend, title, etc.).
So now you have two charts side-by-side, one is displaying just the labels and the other displaying the bars, just need to position it in such a way that no matter how long the label is, it does not overlap with M. Repeat the step similarly for all charts and have the same width for M1,M2,M3,...

I’m using the mailmerge feature of Gembox.Document to produce reports.
I’m having issues with the sizing of a picture.
I have created a merge field inside a table cell, and I would like the picture to occupy the maximum of the cell size without changing it’s aspect ratio.
For now it’s inserting the picture, but the ratio is all messed up.
I’ve read in the help page that I could put a shape my merge field but after many attempts I don’t know how to do it, when I try to draw the shape in my word template, it doesn’t go inside my merge field.
Can anybody help me with this ? Either to fix the aspect ratio, or how to use the shape…

Take a look at the second Merge Pictures example, its input "MergePicturesWithTemplates.docx" file has MergeFields with Shapes inside.
To place a Shape inside a MergeField, draw the shape, set it as "In Line with Text", and drag it inside the field.
Now that you have a shape as a placeholder for your image, you can add switches to MergeField in order to keep the aspect ratio of the merged picture:
\x - resize resulting picture horizontally, keep the template shape's height.
\y - resize resulting picture vertically, keep the template shape's width.
\x \y - resize resulting picture either horizontally or vertically.
To add a switch, press ALT + F9 in MS Word, that will reveal field's code and then write the switch within.
I'm using the Telerik Reports graph wizard to create a bar chart. Even though I can change the ColorPalette property to GradientPalette and can choose the desired colors, the results are the same flat single color. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help and advice.
The Graph's Color Palette applies gradient coloring on the whole series, not on each of the the data points. I believe you're trying to achieve gradient-colored bars, but this feature is not supported. If in your bar chart you define series groups, then the first bar will be colored using the palette's BeginColor, the last bar will be colored with the palette's EndColor all the bars between them will have solid color, calculated based on their count and offset from the BeginColor towards the EndColor.
The Gradient Palette makes much sense when used in the Choropleth, where the color represents an additional data measure - see a demo here.
My WPF VS 2008 application is working with many different images that are assembled and displayed at runtime. I would like to display some white text on top of those images. My problem is that some images contain a white or light color background.
My question is - is it possible to somehow specify a property or specify a setting in the image object, BitmapImage object (where the image is loaded from), or some other WPF object such that when white pixels from one image overlap white pixels from the other image - they turn a different color so the text will be viewable?
I think it depends on how you 'draw' your text on the images. If you use e.g. a Label, you can try out the 'DropShadowEffect', see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms748273.aspx
This effect should work with all WPF objects and you can try out some transparent black soft shadows surrounding the text (a little bit like a glow).
This will only be visible in bright environments if you adjust the opacity right.
Decided to use a dark background color for the text that is only partially (.35) opaque. This means that the background color of the image comes through for the most part, but for lighter colors it yields enough contrast so that the text is viewable.
In the silverlight toolkit chart control, the legend on the X Axis can show an indeterminate amount of points. E.g. 1,2,3,4,5.
Would it be possible to colour the virtual columns that this creates? I.e. in the space where legend mark 2 is shown, the space above to the top of the control is shaded to a different colour. This will make it interesting as as the chart scales, the legends on the X Axis change with the size available.
This is mainly for a series of type ScatterSeries for my specific example but could extend to a series of LineSeries.

It's not really possible due to the fact that there are no virtual columns created.
The chart is a canvas and the scatter point is just a point positioned on it. Your best bet would be to create your own ColumnSeries type and then style it to look like a ScatterSeries with your desired background colour.
