How to use Speech to Text in GDK - google-mirror-api

I have a problem when using Speech to Text in GDK. Even though they said it uses Android API Level 15 when I install it onto Glass, it doesn't work, but it works on the phone.
Have you tried this or do you have any idea of implementing it on Glass
Google Glass cards interface has option "Read Aloud" and when we tap it, it works.
Should I use Mirror API or something else to do.

If your GLASS is XE8 or older you need voicesearch.apk installed in the GLASS to enable voice to text.
But if you are using XE9 or later, the feature is available. you dont have to install voicesearch.apk

How to print receipts on BLE Thermal Printers for a Xamarin Forms mobile app?

I am totally new to the bluetooth world and I am current using Xamarin Forms framework to build an app which providing the feature of receipt printing on BLE printer (Currently using Mustek MK380 Thermal Printer as test device).
I am using this plugin for my app, and has been able to connect to my printer with no issue:
https://github.com/xabre/xamarin-bluetooth-le
However, I am still confused and have no idea what to do next in spite of the research I did (To understand what characteristics, services, etc are). I have played around with the plugin and also gone through the Services, Characteristics and Descriptors by log their names and values at console.
Could anyone help me or provide me some directions, or there are alternatives for my to achieve what I want, it is much appreciate if there are examples to refer.
In short, my remarks and questions are as below:
I wish to develop a Xamarin Forms app that support POS style receipt printing feature through thermal printer.
The printer I use is Mustek MK380 Thermal Printer supporting BLE 4.0
I am using https://github.com/xabre/xamarin-bluetooth-le plugin
I am stucked after connecting to the printer.
Thank you!

How to download sources for xcode simulator

For app distribution to app store, we need to make couple (well, lots of them) of screenshots from all types of apple devices. In native app, we do it through simulator. How can we do it with codename one? How can I download the sources required for xcode simulator? Or is there any other way, how this can this be achieved (instead of buying all types of apple devices there are of course) ?
Apple now lets you upload one image size and they will scale it for the rest. I don't recall which size, but probably the 6plus. They tell you on iTunes Connect where you create the app details. You can use the CN1 simulator to capture screenshots. Set the skin to the desired device type and press F2 to capture the screen. The screen capture will just be what is displayed on screen, but there are some tools out there to give it the look of a real device. See this blog post:

Take a photo in WPF using the default camera app in Windows 8

I was asked to develop a software in vb.net and one of it's features should be the possibility to take photos on a tablet PC. I already played around with the MediaCapture API which returns me a photo, but as it seems that it's not possible to show a preview or anything else outside of ModernUI apps. It's just pure photo capturing.
I thought for a little while how this problem could be solved. I got some inspiration from my Android phone then. My idea was to call some sort of API to open up the regular Windows 8 camera app in ModernUI mode, let the user take the photo and then receiving that through a "return value", just like you usually do it in Android apps.
Now my question is, if there is a way to start up the Windows 8 default camera app, let it take a photo and receive that back into my WPF desktop application.
I could develop my software as ModernUI app as well, but I never did that and it also seems like you must publish it over the web store then, but I only want to use that inside my company.
My other (simple stupid) idea would be to ask the user to open the camera app by himself, take some photos and come back to my software later. I could then receive the images from the folder they were stored in. I guess that would work as well, but I don't really like that idea because it's not very intuitive and seems just stupid.
If you have an idea (or an alternative), I would be really happy if you could share it with me.
Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately, there are no .NET classes that allow you to access a webcam or integrated camera on your computer. This means that you have to take a look at the native Windows API and call it from your application. I cannot point you to the right methods that you have to use, as I just have used Microsoft Media Foundation to capture a continuous stream of images from a webcam and encode it to a video file.
There are some sites that encapsulate this native functionality in .NET classes, but I don't know if they are good or not:
http://dotnet.dzone.com/articles/using-webcam-wpf-application
http://www.yiigo.com/guides/vbnet/how-to-process-image.shtml
(just google for more if you'd like to).
In Windows Store Apps, this task can be performed relatively easy with the media capture API you've mentioned. You can also side-load Windows Store Apps if you have Windows 8 Pro or Enterprise - then you do not have to publish your app in the Windows Store.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

How to install a new keyboard layout which is not present in the iPhone using ios 6?

I am using iPhone 3gs(unlocked i mean apple genuine jail broken device). Its having inbuilt keyboard languages like "Hindi" "Chinese-Simplified" etc for adding a new keyboard.
How to install a new keyboard in the iPhone(through iTunes or anything) which is not present in the list.
For example: My local language is "Telugu". I want the Telugu keyboard to be installed into my device. Will it be possibe? (Remember one thing, I don't need any apps for my local language I need a software keyboard layout file)
Unlike keyboards on Android, this is not possible on iOS.

Multi-target rapid prototyping using Microsoft technologies?

I want rapid prototyping: Quickly define screens, links, buttons etc. I want to easily interact with sample data. I want to see things "moving".
An example would be a mail account: I would like to say that a message has a sender, date, subject and content, then say that a "message" screen displays a list of message headers, and clicking on a message header opens a "view message" screen where a "reply" button leads to a "create reply" screen.
You know - Gmail :)
There are two catches:
I want multi-platform targeting: At this stage I'm not yet sure which parts of the project would run on the web, on desktop clients, or maybe on tablets and smart devices (Ok, Ok: iPad/iPod/iPhone).
I know and like Microsoft technologies: C# (or VB), ASP, Visual Studio etc. So I wouldn't like to switch to Rubi, PHP etc.
I thought Sketchflow was the answer, but this is Silverlight which is not portable.
I believe this need is not mine alone, so probably a solution exists out there!
Any suggestions?
Like you say, it's a difficult choice.
Either you stuck with MS Technologies and the answer is Sketchflow (then Blend) and Silverlight which make development very easy, but that are not "standard" : works well on Windows, MacOS and quite well in Linux with MoonLight. Silverlight should work well with Windows Phone 7 but won't work with Apple Iphone/Ipads.
Either you can do it in HTML5, which will be standard, compatible with the most recent browsers (forget about IE 7, Firefox 3 and co) but then the development will not be as easy.
I don't know your app's complexity but i would start doing silverlight + webservices and a Iphone/Ipad app later (using the same webservices via json).
For information, the silverlight penetration rate is 55-60%.
