I have just installed vs2010 sp1 ultimate, sqlserver 2012 and the latest version of sqlserver data tools. I have opened up a solution from source control and receive a bunch of error like the following when trying the build the database project.
SQL71566: Microsoft.Data.Tools.Schema.Sql.SchemaModel.SqlFilegroup cannot not be set on both the Microsoft.Data.Tools.Schema.Sql.SchemaModel.SqlTable and the clustered Microsoft.Data.Tools.Schema.Sql.SchemaModel.SqlPrimaryKeyConstraint.
Running on Windows 7 professional, 64 bit
This is working fine for other members of the team and they all seem to have the same setup as me.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling vs2010 and ssdt
Any ideas anyone?
I was receiving this error with the November 2012 SSDT release but only when I moved a project from a 32 bit vista machine to a 64 bit vista machine. I was able to get my project to build by enabling the project setting "Enable extended Transact-SQL verification for common objects.". Enabling this setting in the past has caused other issues so I am not sure if this will surface other problems in this environment.

I've reformatted my machine around 3 times. I'm on windows 10 and I've selected the erase all apps and files option and I'm still not able to install sql server express 2016. I'm presented with this error when trying to install.

I've tried many many things. I've reformatted, I've tried running the file as admin, tried other versions such as stand edition 2012, tried to install the files while deleting 2010 c++ distribution. I've ran .net repair tool and nothing as well.
The problem stemmed when I manually uninstalled .net 4.5.1 framework using add/remove programs. I think my system files or registry is corrupted.
I think the error says, you have a 32 bit machine(processorArchitecture=”x86″) and you are trying to install 64 bit app ,which is not possible
further there is no 32 bit version of SQLSERVER from SQL2016 onwards

In my case, the issue was with broken VS2015 isolated shell installation.
I resolved it by downloading and re-installing this shell from Visual Studio Isolated Shell page https://learn.microsoft.com/en-ca/visualstudio/extensibility/visual-studio-isolated-shell (which should eventually lead you to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=615451 - after filling out the survey).

I had following warnings after the VS1205 shell install. But that
did not matter, since the existing version of these components was
higher.
I had no VS IDEs installed on my computer prior to
installing SSMS 16.5.3 (or 17.1). Both had the same issue. For now I
am using only SSMS 16.5.3, since I do not have a need for 17.1
I completely remove all microsoft application and re install sql server 2016 and the reinstall ssms and ssms worked and finally I install vs17 now its working.

I am trying to open a solution file in Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate that includes an Integration Services project (.dtproj). Unfortunately, the migration failed for reasons that are slightly baffling to me.
The migration report contains the following error:

I've tried opening this solution in both Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate and Visual Studio 2013 Premium (which is why I tagged both). Both are on Update 5. I already tried updating all of my extensions and updates, even ones that seem like they wouldn't be directly relevant to the problem (like Visual Studio's Office tools).
I found a similar question on Microsoft's forum. The suggestion there was to upgrade my version of SSIS to the latest version. I tried to install SSDT for VS2013 as suggested, but the install failed:

I do, in fact, have a different version installed, but it's not actually newer as far as I can tell (in fact, it launches in the Visual Studio 2010 shell), so I'm a little confused by this. The version information is below:

Based on what I've read in other posts, I'd expect to see the SQL Server Data Tools in "Add/Remove Programs," but it's not. Does anyone know why that might be?
I've also seen related questions for other types of projects, such as for a PowerShell project. (Obviously, my question has nothing to do with Powershell, but the OP there was receiving the same exact error message for a different project type). Unfortunately, the suggestions on that post didn't seem all that helpful - for example, the accepted answer there involved completely uninstalling and reinstalling Visual Studio, which would be a major pain to say the least. I'm also not all that confident that that would work for me since this problem occurs in two separate versions of Visual Studio.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I could try?
You likely need to install both Integration services and Business Intelligence for Visual Studio (BIDS). You can do it launching SQL Server Setup and adding features to your current SQL Server Instance.

BIDS is the IDE (integrated into Visual Studio) that allows you to drag and drop the components and create the SSIS packages. From SQL Server 2014 on wards you won't see BIDS anymore packaged in the SQL Server Setup, so you will have to install it independently. I've developed an application that uses SQL Server (in particular LocalDB), and, I have just pushed it out to the client.
The client runs Windows 8.1 x64, but, when I try to install either x86 or x64 version of SQL LocalDB direct from Microsoft, I keep getting this error:

I'm a little bit stuck here, and, quite confused as I am using LocalDB on my Windows 8.1 dev machine.
How can I resolve this?
Please right click the LocalDB setup file and check if it is configured with other compatibility mode. And make sure that you choose “Run as Administrator” to start the installation. There is also a similar thread for your reference, which may require you to reinstall the Windows to resolve the OS error.
SQL Server 2014 Express why not support Windows 8.1 Pro
I am using Visual Studio 2012 with SQL Server 2012 Data Tools installed. For some unexplained reason, my workstation will only run my SSIS code in 32 bit mode. Here is a dummy data flow I built for testing purposes:

It only runs DTSDebugHost.exe *32.
I am at my wits end trying to figure this one out. What do I do to figure out why it is not running just DTSDebugHost.exe (the 64 bit version)?
This happens because VS 2012 is checking to see if VS 2010 ULTIMATE is installed. It just looks for a registry entry.
Solution:
Open Regedit
Browse to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DevDiv\vs\Servicing\11.0\
Create a Key called premium
Create a Key called ultimate
Browse to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DevDiv\vs\Servicing\10.0\
Create a Key called premium
Create a Key called ultimate
Restart VS 2012.
Now it should work in 64-bit mode when you debug.
Ran into an almost identical problem and solution with SQL Server 2014 Enterprise, after installing SSDT-BI for VS 2013.
On a side note, I tried using the 64-bit debug host in SSDT-BI VS 2013 on two separate installs. One
where a full instance of SQL Server 2014 Enterprise was already
installed (with 64-bit debug host installed and verified) and another
where no previous SQL Server components had been installed at all. I
wanted to ensure that the "no debug with 64-bit runtime" issue was not
simply due to a missing 64-bit debug host or that the 64-bit host was
not installed as part of SSDT-BI for VS 2013 (It is not. It's part of
the full SQL Server itself, Integration Services (Shared Feature).
Per this thread on Social MSDN, adding the following registry key was what got the 64-bit debug host working for me:
