I have a edit page for my ExpenseClaim model. The edit page lists all the related Expenses belonging to that ExpenseClaim in a form so users can edit the expenses. I have a X next to each expense so they can delete it if needed. This X just removes the rows fields from the DOM using JS.
When the save button is pressed I'd like any removed rows to be deleted from the Expense table but as $this->request->data isnt changing (the changes are only in the DOM) they don't get deleted. Any edited data does change but not removed data.
I thought about using a postLink but as that creates its own form and I'm already in a form I cant.
So how can I get cake to recognise the changed data? Or am I going about it the wrong way?
Thanks in advance
See this is a database entry and it cannot be deleted like this. And you cannot do it by unset also. The changes has to be reflected in the database.
Better you do an ajax request to the server with the id and delete the row from the database and onSuccess call back remove the element from the dom.
Doing these on a php array is really easy: `unset(array[$key])`.
You can | should | must - it depends on your code - use ajax to trigger these action.

I'm using mui-datatable to implement table in my app. I've every feature I need up and running, and I'm using server side data and pagination.
The problem is that I need to persist selection of rows when the user change the current page.
I can store the ids of the rows that where selected in an external array using onRowSelected.. but I'm not sure how to make the table render those rows as selected when user changes the page.
Bare in mind i'm using server side data, so the idea would be that in page 1, when I select row 1, a take the id of that record and add it to the array of selected ids. Then I need to check if the ids of rows that are currently displayed in the page are included in the selected array, and if so then check it as selected in the table. That way when I change the page, the same logic would run and all rows would be cleared since none of the row in the new page are selected.. I think you get the point.
I dont know where should i check if the row's id is included y my selected array and if so, how to check it in the datatable.
Thanks in advance for the help.
You can wrap your entire MUI datatable in another component which maintains the state of all selected rows
I'm stupid... I just needed some sleep xD
My problem was solved once I realized that I just needed to pass the rowsSelected option like this:
rowsSelected: this.state.pictures.filter(p=>this.state.selectedIds.includes(p.id)).map((p,i)=>i)
where this.state.picture will change when the user changes the page and rowsSelected will also changed.
Never mind... It's a rookie mistake.
I am building a form with Cakephp 2.x and I want to submit some of the data that is received when submitting it to table A and the other data to table B. Does anyone know how to achieve this in cakephp?
I believe you need to look at Cakephp's model documentation. Looking at it now it seems that saveMany could help you with that. http://book.cakephp.org/2.0/en/models/saving-your-data.html#model-savemany-array-data-null-array-options-array
Yes. You should do what you want follow below way:
1. Create method receiveData() in FooController.
2. Create view file receive_data.ctp in folder foo.
$this->Foo->create();
$this->Foo->input('....', array(....));
// other input.
$this->Foo->end();
3. In FooController\receiveData(), When submit, you have data array $myDataArray like this: http://book.cakephp.org/2.0/en/tutorials-and-examples/blog/part-two.html#adding-posts
(Notice: It is Foo controller).
4. Before you save data from submitted data, you maybe need manipulation with submitted data array.
5.
You must call Model Bar inside FooController by:
$uses = array('Bar');
You will save to other table by:
$this->Bar->save($myDataArray);
(Notice: It is Bar Model).
Do Table A and Table B represent two different Models?
if yes saveAssociated might help you.
http://book.cakephp.org/2.0/en/models/saving-your-data.html#saving-related-model-data-hasone-hasmany-belongsto
If you want to save the same kind of model n times then saveMany is what you want to do.
In system I am developing, user can access particular page which is used to make DML operation on custom object. I want to fulfill following business case :
User A opens a Page made changes on page but did not click Save.
At the same time User B opens a page made changes and click Save. User B data got saved in record.
Now user A came and click Save. But as data is outdated I want to prompt user that "you are over righting the latest update. Do you want to continue."
Is there any faster out-of-box way available to achieve it ?
Assuming this is in a VisualForce page, you could check if the value has changed inside your Save method.
Query for the LastModifiedDate of all records you may change, and save that in your controller. This should be done in your controller's constructor and/or anywhere you re-load the record(s).
In the save method, first query the record(s) again to check if the LastModifiedDate has been changed. If it has been changed, prompt the user.
Assuming you are trying to insert a record into an object.
You can write a validation rule on that object. Check if that record is already inserted or not and show an error message.

Here's what I am trying to accomplish:
A user fills out a form, saves a record. At some later date they wish to "clone" this record, but may want to make a few tweaks. This "clone" functionality should direct them to a form that is pre-filled with the previous record's data so that they can review it, edit as needed, and submit it as a new record.
What I'm trying:
I've modified my add() function to accept a parameters:
function add($cloneid = NULL)
Then created a Clone link that sends them to siteurl/model/add/id_to_clone
Then, I get the data from that model:
$clone_source = $this->Model->findById($cloneid);
$this->data['Model']['field1'] = $clone_source['Model']['field1'];
and so on. Based on Google searching and other posts, this should work. But what actually happens is that upon clicking the 'Clone' link, the user is directed and the form submits itself immediately (failing to save the record, since it fails validation) and the user never actually sees the form.
What am I doing wrong? (Also I should note, there are relational models present, but I don't think this should be the cause of any problems...I hope).
Forms are pre-populated using the $this->request->data array.
In order for your form to be populated you will need to set some data to the request.
So you'll be better off with the following.
$this->request->data = $this->Model->findById($id);
I have scenario where I have 3 different models data being saved from one form, by means of the saveAll pass through method in CakePHP 2.x
The models on the form are:
Project
ProjectImage
ProjectAttachment
1 and 2 are saving perfectly, but I am having problems with the ProjectAttachment fields. If you look at the following image, the fields in question are at the bottom right, highlighted by a red frame: http://img.skitch.com/20120417-bnarwihc9mqm1b49cjy2bp13cf.jpg
Here is the situation:
I have named the fields as follows: *ProjectAttachment.0.project_id*, ProjectAttachment.0.name .... *ProjectAttachment.6.project_id* etc where the numbers are relative to the already present amount of attachments the user has added, as there is no limit. So if the user has ALREADY added 6 documents, the field would be called ProjectAttachment.7.id and so on. This is because of the naming convention when using the saveAll method.
I have made use of two hidden fields, one to store the user ID, the other to store the project ID.
The problem is that if the user does not fill in the Document Title and select a file to upload, the form fails! If I remove all validation rules, the form no longer fails BUT a blank ProjectAttachment record is inserted.
I suspect the problem may also be that the project_id and user_id fields (that are hidden) already have values in them?
I gave it some thought, and came up with a simple concept: In my controller, before the saveAll call, I would check to see if a blank Document Title field was submitted, and if so, I would completely eliminate the relevant array entry from the $this->request->data['ProjectAttachment'] array, but this did not seem to work.
To clarify, I am not looking for validation rules. If the user decides they only want to upload images and not touch the ProjectAttachment form, them the saveAll operation must not fail, it must simple not attempt to save the blank fields in the form, if this is at all possible.
Any suggestions?
Kind regards,
Simon
Well it seems that the solution was far simpler than I had initially thought! I was partially on the right track, and I had to unset the variable ProjectArray key in the $this->request->data array if I had encountered any blank fields.
I did this as follows:
if(!empty($this->request->data['ProjectAttachment'])){
foreach($this->request->data['ProjectAttachment'] as $key => $value){
if(is_array($value) && array_key_exists('upload_file', $value)){
if($value['upload_file']['name'] == ''){ // Blank document file
unset($this->request->data['ProjectAttachment']);
}
}
}
}
I hope someone finds this somehow useful in some form or another.
Kind regards,
Simon
