I'd like to use socketstream's RPC over websockets abstraction while using Angular for MVC. Can anyone (probably in the Angular community) point me in the right direction to learn how to use a custom RPC-type data source to update Angular's models in the most idiomatic way?

Yes. you can do that.
Basically, you'd need to add the line below in your view. After you do that, the json is going to be available to the DOM / javascript and angular can take it from there. Hope this help

There are multiple ways to implement ASP.Net MVC with AngularJs.
I personally like Mini SPA (Silos). You can watch Miguel A Castro's video here.

What it does is when a request comes in, it goes to ASP.Net MVC Route first. Then, Angular Route takes over the rest. It is a very slick design.
FYI: I also use Angular.Net Helpers to generate strongly typed views.
You could use WebAPI project in visual studio to exchange data between frontend and backend. It would go stateless, so to secure the data, you could use a mechanism like JWT.
The frontend would exchange JSONS from/to the backend using REST apis.

Sometimes people use ExtJs components in an AngularJS app.
AngularJS is flexible enough to integrate with any other Javascript code/libraries as long as the library has public events to respond to. I would recommend going through the Directive and scope documentation on how to effectively create directives and respond to scope events.
Personally I do not feel ExtJS and AngularJS would be needed together, unless you are forced to use it like me. There is http://angular-ui.github.io/ that brings in a lot to the table. Again any given JQuery plugin can be integrated using directives, filters etc in AngularJS. So you may want to investigate into that before trying to bother with ExtJS.
When I first looked at Play and went through all the samples, I was pretty excited by the zentasks sample and the fluid, clean, effortless Javascript routing that left the work of rendering things to Play. But we decided instead to go with Angular.
Upon going down that road, I thought that Angular would control all aspects of rendering.
However, we have a page that has to get a socket. We were having the socket made on the server, so for now, we still have a Play (Scala) template doing that. We have pared it down to pretty much nothing: create the socket and then inject it into the Angular context.
But we are also trying to do Protractor tests and that is made uglier by having to figure out how to accommodate the Scala template.
Question: should we just ditch the scala template and have the Angular controller call the server and get the socket? That was my favored approach to begin with.
I'm currently working on two Play apps with Angular and in both we decided to have one single main.scala.html file that load all the necessary controllers,services,directives, etc from angular using of require.js.
The goal with Angular is to create a single page app and therefore you should avoid to mix it with server side templates.
You must see your main.scala.html template as the entry point of your single page application. There you generate and load all the pieces you need and give the hand to angular to manage the rest.
I agree with Renato. It's probably better to have a single controller and template that sets up the single page app with angular. Then use AJAX to send requests from the browser to other controllers (see http://www.playframework.com/documentation/2.2.x/JavaJsonRequests).
If want to to avoid Scala templates completely, you can put your web pages and javascript in the public directory and only use AJAX.
So I have a project that I am working on and it requires that I use jsPlumb for graphical elements connections and I am building my app entirely using AngularJS.
What is the procedure to follow if I want to include another library's code into my controller (to fire up some jsPlumb code, say on ng-click) or any other part of my AngularJS code? Should I do that or why should I not do that?

I don't see an easy way to establish two way data binding between Angular and jsPlumb.
What I ended up doing on my project is creating a custom Angular service which serves as a bridge between controllers and jsPlumb. Such service contains methods specific to application, such as:
removeElementFromFlow
addElement
getElements
getConnections
isElementConnected
etc.
It allows to keep all jsPlumb plumbing code outside of controllers, keeping them clean.

Does anybody know a library or project that allows for an AngularJS style of programming in Dart?
I'd like to be able to create annotated HTML files for declaring my UI instead of imperatively instantiating everything like in SWT. Also, features like data binding would be helpful. Can I use Dart for that instead of JS?

There are a bunch of UI frameworks being created for Dart right now. I know about PureMVC, Buckshot, and HipsterMVC, but there are probably others. I don't know which of these are like AngularJS.
Google also just released an article on using Web Components in Dart.
AngularJS uses the new methodology of MVC (Model-View-Controller) to separate information from the user interface. Many web frameworks, most notably Ruby on Rails and ASP.NET MVC 3 and MVC 4, use this methodology to make programming web apps easier, in my opinion. JavaScript libraries, like AngularJS and Backbone are beginning to use this style of programming on the client-side as well. For Dart, I would take a look at Hipster MVC. Its still being developed, but it looks very promising and should be completed soon. Hope this helps!
