Any idea how to make an animation like used on the link below? I want to make a paper effect with animation on silverlight but dont know how to do. The first came to my mind is making a gif or video by some 3d medelling programs like 3dsmax but that is a trick not a solution :) Or pixel shader effects but it's a complex way i think.

Here is the actual shape I want to draw using maybe view style properties or are there any alternatives, thanks
Depending on your needs I would choose something like react-native-canvas they have pretty much everything you gonna need to draw.
Other option would be GCanvas.
With those options you will be able to draw free forms as you wish
But there`s always the option to use SVG as well.
In my past experiences SVG forms solved most of the cases, but sometimes I had to use this canvas libs to draw some more complex or dynamic forms.
Hope this can be of any help to you.
I am trying to make some rotary knob with WPF and C#, .NET3.5; So right now what I am having is:
but instead, I really want to have something like these:
Anyone has any idea how I can make it look nicer? I am writing the WPF code from scratch. Thanks a lot.
You are using SolidColorBrush right now. Play with RadialGradientBrush instead to achieve the look.
You can create such an effect by finding a nice pictue of a knob, and then apply a rotatetransform on it.
If the picture contains the scale, you will need to edit that out to an other image, which can be under the knob picture.
I am new to Gtk and want to do simple drawing of shapes like circles and rectangles. I was looking at the gnome tutorial and the hello word example. However the curves section is undocumented. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction as to what should I look at, and maybe if I need to include some other supplementary library to draw?
The preferred drawing API in GTK 2 and 3 is Cairo. But if you need to develop a diagram program, with nodes that can react to events, you will need also to use a canvas, like GooCanvas.
Check out http://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/3.2/GtkDrawingArea.html about the GtkDrawingArea, plus http://developer.gnome.org/gdk/stable/gdk-Drawing-Primitives.html about Gdk-Drawing-Primitives and you are on the go.
You might also go a bit further by using this link and check out Cairo directly http://www.cairographics.org
I am new to WPF in general and want to add some animation to my interface.
I have a label and an image. The label will fly in from the right side of the window, the image from the left. They'll meet in the center. The image will rotate while its flying in, while the text will pretty much just move across the screen.
So my question is. For this kind of animation do you get a path object where you can draw a line at design time and have elements move across this line at a certain speed?
In classic windows forms I would have approached the issue using a timer and then adjust the left property of the label at each tick. Surely WPF is more sophisticated than this though.
So can anyone tell me a good approach?
First: You need ExpressionBlend to create animation in WPF.
WPF is more sophisticated
Of course no, read about animation in WPF, Personally, I prefer video learning for it.
you can find here some clips, I recommend this series from Total training.
I am making a flash card application. It shows the question and then a textbox for user input, all wrapped in a border or rectangle. So what I want is an animation that "flips" the rectangle or border upside-down and then their is text on the "back". Also, I want my application to APPEAR transition from one card to another by "flying off" the screen then "another" card comes in to replace the other one in the opposite direction. But actually I'm want just a little animation of the border or rectangle moving off the screen then coming back in, but in the opposite direction. Some help would be appreciated, like what kind of animation can accomplish this and maybe a small code sample to demonstrate. I am not asking you write all this, I think that would be a little rude (unless you really want to).
Have you had a look at the Silverlight FX stuff? There might be some animations in there that are what you are looking for. There are also samples provided.
