I am running the above xcode and macport version. on max os x
when I try to self update my mac port I get the following error.

I am trying to update mac port to install qt.

which I need to install webkit-capybara

You need to use the -d option to get enough information to diagnose this; but take a look at https://trac.macports.org/wiki/FAQ#selfupdatefails for common problems and solutions.

Just wanted to add that on Mac OS 10.12 Sierra i was getting the WARNING: GNUSTEP_SYSTEM_ROOT is not defined error on selfupdate and i did already have the Xcode command line tools installed, licensed and working. But my copy of Xcode had become out of date, even though that was not showing up on the automatic software updates.
I had version 7 and for Sierra (and macports) you need version 8.
So I manually downloaded Xcode 8 via the App Store and it solved the problem for me.

i need help. currently i want to use PHP redis on my macOS from this repo https://github.com/phpredis/phpredis
because there are many error when i direct clone from that repository, i decided to choose install the phpredis use MacPorts.
my specification mac is
macOS Cataline v 10.15.7
PHP 7.3.11
i'm using XAMPP 7.4.12
after i install the macPorts i did run this command
sudo port install php73-redis
the installation was good and no error. after that i restart my apache and also restart my mac.. but when i check on phpinfo() no function redis..
i also check on my file /opt/local/var/db/php73/redis.ini also contain extension=redis.so
what is missing from my steps? i still not able to set the PHPredis after that. please help
I'm installing ckan onto ubuntu server 14.04 from source following this guide: http://docs.ckan.org/en/latest/maintaining/installing/install-from-source.html
The problem I'm encountering is that when I try to access solr locally I get the following error:
ERROR 500: org/apache/tomcat/util/descriptor/LocalResolver.
I've googled and tried changing libtomcatlib-6 to a previous version but the downgrade won't take (following this here apt-get says that the version wasn't found). Anyone have any ideas?
If you get the following error message when opening the Solr page in your browser:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/tomcat/util/descriptor/LocalResolver
Then run these commands:
sudo sh -c 'echo /usr/share/java/tomcat-coyote.jar >> /etc/jetty/start.config'
sudo service jetty restart
Then reload the page and you should see the Solr admin interface.
(I'm assuming you installed Solr with Jetty as per the source install instructions, i.e. sudo apt-get install solr-jetty openjdk-6-jdk. The NoClassDefFoundError is because of a problem with Ubuntu 14.04's jetty package.)
CKAN doesn't support Ubuntu 14.04 yet, there are a number of issues; https://github.com/ckan/ckan/labels/14.04 Install on Ubuntu 12.04. Having said that, there is a pull request here with working source install instructions for 14.04: https://github.com/ckan/ckan/pull/2020
I'm using fastcgi and my PHP version is 5.3.3 instead of 5.5 so my question is how can I update to latest PHP version? I'm using CentOS, I tried yum update, but no update appeared for this.
Normally you need to uninstall the 5.3 branch and install 5.5 from scratch because it is not an update but a new version.
Beware that in 5.5 quite some functions are deprecated that were still available in 5.3!

you solve all dependency issues with epel and remi on CentOS 6.
Then, by running the following command, you install PHP 5.5.
yum --enablerepo=remi,remi-test install httpd php php-common
For extra goodies, you can run the following command:
yum --enablerepo=remi,remi-test install php-pecl-apc php-cli php-pear php-pdo php-mysqlnd php-pgsql php-pecl-mongo php-sqlite php-pecl-memcache php-pecl-memcached php-gd php-mbstring php-mcrypt php-xml
Now, restart your httpd service and set it to boot automatically:
service httpd restart
chkconfig --levels 235 httpd on
Now run:
php --version
to see whether the correct version of PHP was installed.
I have trouble installing PHP, MySQL and Apache2 using MacPorts. Currently my OS is Mavericks and i'm downloading the official binary package for mavericks (also tried compile from source and running selfupdate) but I got this error message:

Can you please check the error message block within the log file:
/opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_devel_readline/readline/main.log
Also make sure xcode command line tools are installed.
FYI: I faced similar error in Mavericks. My case was:
opt is a different partition which is mounted in /Volumes/opt
/opt is a symbolic link to /Volumes/opt.
It has been solved after editing /opt/local/etc/macports/macports.conf by replacing /opt with /Volumes/opt. Note sure this can help your case.
I'm trying to run the build script from HTML5 Boilerplate and I have to install YUM for that. I am on Mac OS Snow Leopard 10.6.8. When I did sudo port install yum, i'm getting the following error. Any idea how can I rectify it and install yum properly?

Previously after installing YUM, i was getting Segmentation Fault, so I uninstalled and installed it again using Macports to get the above error.
I think you've got the wrong end of the stick here. You do not need to install YUM on the Mac. In fact, that act is sheer madness, because you already have a perfectly good package manager in the shape of MacPorts!

If you're on Mac or Linux...
You've got all your dependencies pre-installed, likely. You may need a yum install ant-contrib or what have you.
The key bit there is "or what have you". That is a cryptic way of saying "or the equivalent command for your package manager". On Red Hat-based systems, the package manager is indeed YUM; on Debian systems, it's APT; on the Mac, it's MacPorts.
So, remove your YUM installation, and simply do:
port install ant-contrib
You can now proceed to actually running Ant.
