Question:
I look for a program that can do the job for the following questions:
On a website the user can see a animated 'movie' of a house exterior
He can rotate the house left-right, up-down
When he clicks on, lets say a door, a price and some text will show up
.
About the framework the program uses:
Please no unity3d or another animation framework that is not widely used. Maybe Flash, Shockwave or Silverlight?
.
The questioned program:
It may be a program that a most company use in this scenario. But at best a program that can be used by semi-profs like I think i am ;-)
Thanks in advance!
You could use Flash for this.
There are several open source 3D libraries such as:

...
Furthermore, you will be able to leverage GPU acceleration natively in the Flash Player 11.0 release.

i'm new to Unity . i have a simple Terrain in my unity project. what is the simplest way to implement touch joystick buttons to my project so mobile users can move around with?
something like this
mobile movement joystick example image
when i export my project for PC it works fine by keyboard keys but what about android/iPhone users?
You need a Virtual JoyStick. Simply posting code here is not enough to get you started. Watch this video, it shows how to make one from start to finish.
For more examples about moving the character, look at the code in this question. The question contains code for moving the character with the keyboard and the answer explains how to move it with touch (Virtual JoyStick) on Android.
I think that you have a built-in way to do this. Alternatively, you can take a look at the Asset Store, it's a great place to look for piece of codes, assets and stuff.
For example you can use in your project these free assets: CN Controls , Standalone Multi-Touch Input Module
Our client is going to have a big screen in a reception area where they will have a browser based view of the laboratory floor plan. The idea is to interactively feed in lab temperatures for each room and have the floor plan change when a significant change in temperature occurs.
Silverlight will be the foundation technology for this, but that's where my experience with this ends. I don't know silverlight very well, but I should be ok with it once I get started.
I have the following two routes so far:
1. Just draw out the outlines in Silverlight and overlay it with extra shapes to represent elements like air conditioners, etc.
2. Telerik has a Map control that makes use of ESRI shapefiles, which seemed interesting and they actually have a Hotel sample where you can interact with various rooms, but when I asked them how they generated those shapefiles, they couldn't answer.
Anyone done something similar?
Shapefiles seemed interesting, but when I downloaded MapWindow and Quantum GIS, it seems to be a huge learning curve with very little in the line of online tutorials.
Thanks

I've been a php/ruby/flash/android/iphone developer for quite some time. I'm starting my mobile/browser game development career. I've been searching for a cross-platform framework that would be the best choice for me as a beginner. I fond the Sparrow framework (iPhone) but I'm not sure about it.
Btw... I'll start with simple games (racing or super mario-style).
My questions:
- Which framework should I use?
- Is it possible to create a game in flash and then export it to native OS (iPhone,Android,Symbian).
- I like screen casts (video tutorials), where can I found them?
- Other tips?
Thx 10x!
Using flash is very different than any other framework ive used. Flash takes care of almost everything for you (ie. Loading images, sprites, animations, etc.) while other languages/frameworks require this to be done manually unless you use a game engine. If you are looking to develop on the iphone cocos2d is a good framework to use. Starting from flash and moving to a different framework would be harder than starting with a different framework and moving to flash.
You can use flash, but unless your game is turn based I wouldn't recommend it. The Adobe packager is still dirt slow.
If you want something that is cross platform and pretty easy to get into you should check out Unity3D. It's mostly 3D specific, but has some user created 2D addons. You can use ECMA style syntax as well so it wouldn't be a huge leap away from flash.
Can anyone provide any details, code snippets, examples, etc. of how to go about building something as cool as this "Rock Wall" that Obscura Digital built?

Let's just pretend we have access to whatever technology is required. Where do I start?

http://multitouchvista.codeplex.com/
My understanding of the question is, what kind of libraries are available for multitouch (specifically in .Net)?
If this is the case, see here and here. Neither actually requires a Microsoft Surface table, but it does require multi-touch compatible hardware and Windows 7.

You need a large piece of plexiglass, an infrared webcam, a projector, several infrared LED's, and some sort of translucent material like butcher paper.
The infrared LED's are placed along the outer edge of the glass, and illuminate the glass with infrared light. The projector takes the computer image and projects it onto the butcher paper, which is mounted behind the glass. When you touch the glass with your finger, it produces an image in the infrared camera that can be processed by the computer.
The whole thing can be built for less than $1000. TouchKit offers everything but the projector in a pre-assembled form for $1580, including shipping.
I want to utilise the 3dwall feature of cooliris, the physics effects of the icons in bumtop to design an application for making the image viewing more intuitive and interactive. I dont want to use flash as it would slow down the speed for interaction on desktop. PLease could someone tell me about
choice of
1.) physics engine - physx or ODE for the physics effects like bumtop
2.) opengl or direct 3d
3.) WPF(windows presentation Format) - what is its use
Flash with Actionscript 3 is the best for such things. Checkout http://www.flashloaded.com/flashcomponents/3dwall/ for an illustration of CoolIris type application in Flash.
WPF is great for building application like this. VS2008 doesn't provide solution for good visualization,
but you can always call for help Blend included in MS Expression. There you can select silverlight project for building fancy web applications (silverlight.net/showcase). At start, combining different controls and trigger events to start simulations is entirely included. Yes, inside Blend you can set frame keys like in flash.
It's certainly a lots of effort, but it don't need to be. Recently new set of WIN RadControls for WinForms and Silverlight are issued and they look, believe me, excellent. You can look for Run Demo program which shows example of using these controls. Under section Integration, Carousel and others you will see what you looking for and beyound.
