NetBeans 7.0 Randomly delete files from server on 'Download' command - file

I add a new PHP Project from Remote Server
I download the source files to my PC
When Netbeans downloads the files, it randomly deletes files from server.
Why does this happen?
My configuration is:
Netbeans 7.0, default configurations.
Remote Sever via SSH. (sftp)

This issue has been logged, reproduced and apparently fixed for 7.1 target.

In the meantime, after each full download of your site, do a Find inside the Remote Log console window for the DELE (match case, whole word) command. This will identify for you which files were deleted and you can re upload them.
If that's too tedious and you have time for a coffee break, simply re-upload your entire directory after downloading it.
It seems to have to do with the Upload On Save feature, so if you turn that off, presumably the issue should go away as well.
You can grab the latest nightly and the issue should also be resolved, according to the primary committer.

Publish WPF + EF Core App with Windows Installer Project

I have tried to create an .exe file to my WPF App and SQL Server related databse with EF Core using Windows Setup Installer Project.
I included all the dll's files from /bin/Release and built it for any CPU.
The Setup Project has been created successfully and it worked on my PC as I expected.
Otherwise when I try to install the Setup File on another PC, I can't even open it up and see what's wrong.
I guess the problem comes from the database but I can't find anything helpful on the internet.
So you get the application installed, run it and nothing happens, right? Here is what you do:
Run it. Watch nothing happen
Hit the Windows key and type "Event"
When "Event Viewer" appears in the list of applications, run it
In Event Viewer, go to Windows Logs >> Application
Near the top there will probably be an error entry. It will probably be related to your application. And if you were missing a key file needed to run your application, like a DLL, the name of the file will probably be in there in the details section
Go back to your installer and add that missing file. Or if that file is part of some support package (like, say, MS Redistributable for Visual C++) then add the installer for that too.

Files open as completely empty in Dreamweaver

While using dreamweaver I connected to my website and attempted to work on a file on my remote server (the actual site server) and when I opened it there was NO CODE AT ALL. When I logged into the actual site, the file functioned normally and when I went to the file manager on the actual site, the file was perfectly fine. Please help!
Also ,when I try to open a file, it gives me an error "This page may have dynamically-related files that can only be discovered by the server" When I tell Dreamweaver to try and discover them it tells me they "could not be resolved". I have never had this dynamic file thing pop up and I do not have any dynamically-related files that I am aware of, I do not even know what they are and I opened these same files without an issue last week when I updated some.
Found the answer, was a corrupted cache. Followed directions here:
Dreamweaver's cache is kept in a file in its Configuration folder. That file name depends on OS:
For Windows it is WinFileCache-<randomString>.dat
For MAC it is MacFileCache-<randomString>.dat
Deleting of that file clears the cache. After restarting Dreamweaver is creating new one. Location of the cache file differs for each version and operating system. Here is a list of locations depending on DW version and OS:
For Dreamweaver CC:
Vista, 7 & 8: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC\<language>\Configuration
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC\<language>Configuration\
Once I cleared it and rebooted and restarted it worked fine!

Issue Signing xap file in post build event on TFS Build

We have a silverlight(5) project, the source in TFS (2010) and Continuous Integration build has been setup and working fine. However, we are now at the stage where we are trying to release it to some users to get them using it and give feedback. I've set up the code so that it checks for updates and if there are any it downloads the latest xap file. However this requires the xap file to be signed. No problem when doing this from our dev machines, but when it comes to the automated build it fails, with the message
Xap packaging failed. Cannot locate the signing tool SignTool.exe.
I've tried numerous things to get the signtool to be recoginised and can't. However, we don't actually need this on the CI build, so I've then tried a second tack which is to make the postbuild event conditional on being run in VisualStudio. Followed various suggestions here on SO but can't gett them to work.
The post build event is
if "$(BuildingInsideVisualStudio)" == "true" (
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\Bin\signtool.exe" sign /f "$(SolutionDir)castle.pfx" "$(TargetDir)Castle.xap"
copy "$(TargetDir)Castle.xap" "$(SolutionDir)Castle.Web\ClientBin"
)
still no joy. Have tried multiple variations of this, but keep getting the same message from the automated build.
So can anyone help with either a) getting the signing tool to be recoginised on the build server or b) getting the automated build to skip the postbuild event?
Found the problem in the end...
I had been putting in place some features so the app would download and install the latest xap file. This requires it to be signed. As this wasn't working I followed some instructions on signing a xap file, not realising that one of the other developers here had put in place the code I described above in the post build event.
I had mistakenly thought that this was created as a result of me checking the 'Sign The Xap File' check box.
So first issue was that other developer had not shared his pfx file with us to add to our certificate stores.
Second, and main issue, was that we then had two attempts at signing going on. The one via the check box and the one via the post build event. I removed the check box and it worked fine.
The issue with the check box is that it expects the SignTool.exe to be in a particular location. On our development boxes with full VS it is where it is looking for it, but on the build server it wasn't. Think it may also have something to do with 64bit machines.
By using only the build event (once you have the correct certificates installed) you can specify explicitly the location that the signtool is going to be, and if necessary install the windows sdk to that location.
This is the top result in Google for this error so updating it with my steps to resolve.
The above didnt work for me but performing the steps below should fix it.
Install the Windows 8.1 SDK on the build server (Windows 2008 R2 for me)
Adding the Windows SDK BIN directory (that contains signtool.exe, on my server) to the Environment PATH variable - e.g. c:\program files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\bin - note: Do not add quotes around this
Restart all the Visual Studio Team Foundation services in services.msc after you add the file path to the PATH variable as it needs to reload these before building

An Error Occurred While Downloading A Required File

I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not, since I have no idea what's causing this problem. I have a WPF application that was compiled into a setup project. After building the setup project, there are two files: setup.exe and [Program Name].msi. I put both files in the same directory in an ASP.NET website, served via IIS 7.5. Everything was working fine for about a week, until I started getting the error:
"An error occured while downloading a
required file. You may retry
downloading the file or cancel setup."
This happens when I click on a link on my website for the setup.exe file. After seeing this error, there's a tab labeled "Details" which I can click to display the message:
"An error occurred trying to download
'[website url for the .msi file]'. See
the setup log file located at
'C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Temp[some
alphanumeric
sequence].tmp\install.log' for more
information."
I looked at this file, but it just restates that there was a problem downloading the .msi file. Can anyone offer me some suggestions? I'm really stumped on this, and have no idea where to go...
Many thanks for the help!
Andrew
EDIT: This appears to be a problem with the computer that I'm downloading the program to. I tried downloading and installing the program on a different computer, and everything worked fine. Apparently, I must have changed some setting on my computer to cause this, although I'm not sure what that is...
So you're trying to download these files directly? Could the server be preventing the download of the .msi file type? How is the download taking place? Is it user initiated?
I was experiencing the same issue this morning and I finally figured out that it caused by either one (or both) of the following settings in IIS:
Compression: I had compression enabled for both static and dynamic files
Output Caching: I had bit Enable cache and Enable Kernel Cache enabled
I cleared all of the above check boxes and after that the setup.exe downloaded the MSI without a problem!
You connection was interrupted just try the preview command you type and also check your connection

Round trip editing of binary documents stored on a server

I'm looking to build some functionality for a content management system for the editing of files stored on the server.
I'd like to provide users the ability to easily download files locally to their computer, open the file for editing, and save it back to the server. The process should be as seamless as possible.
Here's the steps today:
Click the link to download the file (say a PSD) in a web browser
Save it to disk
Find the file, open it for editing in Photoshop
Make changes, save the file
Go back to the browser, navigate to the file that was downloaded.
Click "replace file"
Find the file, upload it back to the server.
Here's what I want:
Click the link to open the PSD file
File is downloaded, Photoshop launches
Make changes, save the file
File is uploaded back to server, replacing the original file
Those who have used Sharepoint know that this works (using WebDAV) but only with the Office applications (PPT, DOC, XLS). I'd like it to work with all file types.
This will take some kind of software to be installed locally - perhaps a separatly installed application with a mime type registered, a signed java applet, or a firefox extension.
This seems like a problem that should have been solved. Has anyone seen this done before?
Windows client OS has a WebDAV redirector and has had for a long time, so
a) you shouldnt need a client piece and b) it's not specific to Office files.
The fun bit is the server end, implementing a WebDAV server.
WebDAV isnt supported on client OSs like Vista (IIS5.1 has support, 6.0 doesnt), only on Servers (2K3, 2K8...)
There is goo/examples/frameworks (cant recall which from when I researched it) available for implementing a WebDAV server, but it requires a server OS [so I had to discount it as the host in my case could potentially have been Vista/7, not server/XP).
The site WebDAV Resources includes a link to at least one open-source server implementation. I haven't used this software, I'm just citing the reference.
It appears that Apache has deprecated or dropped support for server-side WebDAV since the Jakarta Slide project has been retired.
