I can't find the SQL Server 2005 Database Tuning Advisor on my computer. Is it something I needed to specifically choose when I installed SQL Server 2005?
I looked in All Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and also in the C:Program Files Microsoft SQL Server directory and didn't see anything that could have been it.
Open SQL Management studio then go to the Tools menu up top. Its the second one from the top

I'm a bit stuck with this scenario. My dev VM has SQL Server 2014 on it, and I've been working on a SQL Server 2008 database. The 2008 database is listed as '2008 compatible'. I now need to put this on a demo server which has an older edition of SQL Server (2012), and I find that 2008 compatible DBs don't create 2008 compatible backups (which I would have thought would be a given).
I'm actually trying to backup from SQL 2014 and recover into SQL Server 2012. How do I get a SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2012 compatible backup file from my 2008 compatible database?
Thanks.
You have to script the SQL database creation, in SQL Server Management Studio :
right click on the DB -> Task -> Generate script
From there a series off dialog to choose what to generate with the SQL command creation and where, in clipboard or file (recommanded for big DB), with optionally the data as some Insert Into SQL command. To find the data option click on the "Advanced" button and search for "Type of data to script"
I have a server running SQL Server 2008 Enterprise version which has a lot of SQL Codes and I want to upgrade it into SQL Server 2014 Enterprise version. But I don't know what will happen after I upgrade the SQL Server. Will there any SQL Code go unavailable/error? Will it run correctly after upgrading?
SQL Server 2008/2014 is a tool. It has got nothing to do with data/procedures/views etc. Data for SQL Server is stored in the form of .mdf files. So, no, your data or procedurers wont be touched. But yes lot of features are going to be deprecated in SQL Server 2014 when compared to SQL Server 2008. Full list is here. You should go through the list and find a suitable replacement for every deprecated item before migrating.
I have management studio 2005 and 2008, can the 2008 version be setup to connect to 2005? I understand there are new features in 2008 that I wouldn't be able to use, but I mainly use the software to graphical create new tables and assign relationships.
Yes, Sql Server Management Studio 2008 works with Sql Server 2005. However, it does not work with Sql Server 2000.
I incorrectly stated that it doesn't work with Sql Server 2000, while in fact it does. However, having said that, it's probably not going to give you a whole lot usability options if you're connecting to Sql Server 2000.
Where is the SQL Analyzer?
I did a full install, I don't see it anywhere in the menus. If for some reason is just doesn't exist any more, what are some viable alternatives?
SQL Analyzer or Query Analyzer was replace in Version 2005 with SQL Server Management Studio.
Here is the MSDN Link on Using SQL Server Management Studio

Hi
I have been using SQL server 2000 for a few years but now have access to SQL server 2008 for development.
Apart from the obvious things like the new management studio and intellisense what are the main features and benefits of SQL server 2008?
What is the general consensus on the performance of the management studio compared to the out dated SQL 2000 enterprise manager and query analyzer applications?
Thanks
Check out this question. Granted the title is for advantages of 2008 over 2005, I think the feature list is quite comprehensive and will show you all that 2000 isn't offering.
SQL Server Management Studio is a lot nicer than Enterprise Manager. It is a little different since SSMS uses more of a Visual Studio interface. But there are lot more features in SSMS easily available.
