Problem downloading Sift workstation on VMware workstation 16 pro - sift

Newbie here. For education purposes I needed to download the OVA file of Sans Sift workstation to run on my VMware workstation 16 pro. It downloaded but never really open up. It ended up with a black screen with a blinking cursor. Ran it again and it is the same again. Uninstall and install again same outcome. Anyone encountered something like this?
Thanks

You may still be able to login - press Alt + F2 (or maybe F1). Login at the prompts and then type the command startx
This should hopefully give you the gui.

Just as above, I was able to get the login screen to show up by pressing alt f1, altf2 then alt f1 again, so i don't know which one really worked. Anyway once I logged in I was able to use apt-get update and then i used apt-get dist-upgrade, and once that was complete I restarted the VM and the login screen appeared and once logged in, the Ubuntu GUI was there and it has been working ever since.

Why is [PrtSc] button not working in Intellij-Idea or Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio?

I'm using a thrid-party screen capturing application (Screenpresso). It's configured to start screen-capturing when I press PrtSc. And indeed it works except when Intellij has Windows focus. In fact, to screen capture code I have to focus on any other window press PrtSc and then select the area within Intellij.
I've looked through all the settings, and especially the Keymap settings, and I can't see anything else that has been assigned to PrtSc. Of course, I'm not really sure; when I try to find a setting via nothing happens, as pressing PrtSc has no effect.
I know this used to work for me in previous versions of Intellij (though I can't remember what versions). But PrtSc used to work in Intellij just like every other application.
So I guess the question is, why is Intellij eating the PrtSc keypress event? And can I turn it off so that the event gets correctly passed to my dedicated screen capturing application.
Intellij 2019.2.4
Windows 10, 64b
This turned out to be an issue with Screenpresso:
https://www.screenpresso.com/support/hot-keys/
Why shortcut [print screen] key does not always work?
This must be because you run your application with elevated
privileges (with admin rights) (the UAC must have displayed a popup
at startup).
For security reasons, Screenpresso can handle shortcuts
from Windows running with elevated privileges only when it is
installed in Program Files folder.
To fix this, you should install
Screenpresso in Program Files folder which is not the default
behavior:
Uninstall Screenpresso
Run again Screenpresso: Right click Screenpresso.exe and select Run as administrator
Click on the INSTALL on this computer button while holding the Control key or click on the sub-menu Install for all users:

Cannot revert lightdm to gdm3

I have Ubuntu 18.04 installed on my HP laptop. This morning after restart it wasn't able to find my second monitor, which is connected via HDMI. I had those issues before, and fixed them by restarting multiple times, connecting HDMI to my TV etc, but this time it did not work.
I have found the answer on stackoverflow to switch to lightdm as a solution to my problem. I installed lightdm with apt-get, ran sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm and restarted the computer.
New appearence was there, other monitor on HDMI was also there. I encountered next problems :
My battery indicator was not showing how much I have left (stuck at 48%) and wasnt showing when I plug charger that it is charging
Title buttons were on the left side of windows, which is not what I am accustomed to since I also have other computer running Windows.
So I started googling to fixing that, I have Tweaks installed, but when selecting right/left position it only affected the Tweaks window, others were still with buttons on left side. I have tried (found it on stackoverflow also)
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences button-layout ':minimize,maximize,close'
which didnt have the effect, also found on some answer
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xsettings overrides "{'Gtk/DecorationLayout':<':minimize,maximize,close'>}"
but that also didnt work, the title buttons were still on the left side.
After that I completely removed lightdm, purged, restarted, gdm3 login screen appeared but the desctop appearence was the same as when using lightdm, still battery icon issue and still buttons on the left side. I have tried than installing lightdm and removing/purging gdm3 but the issue remained the same.
Help would be appreciated, since I cannot just accept buttons on the left side and ignore battery icon, and reinstalling OS would be super painful since I have tons of stuff set (I use laptop for sotware development)

How to capture screenshot on KaiOS device (Nokia 8110 4G)

Does anyone know how to capture screenshot on Nokia 8110 4G (KaiOS)?
You may follow these steps to get screenshot via Firefox WebIDE.
On the device - dial *#*#33284#*#* to enable developer mode. There will be a bug icon on the status bar.
Download Firefox 58.
[Important] Disable your internet access, this is to prevent Firefox got updated to a newer version which might break the WebIDE functionality.
Launch Firefox 58 and disable auto update.
Resume your internet access.
Launch WebIDE in Tools > Web Developer > WebIDE.
Restart the WebIDE (because the ADB helper would be downloaded automatically, and need to restart it to take effect.)
Now you should be able to see Nokia 8110 detected under "USB devices" at the right panel. (if not, see below)
Click the device, "Nokia 8110", and then click Screenshot.
See here for a sample screenshot.
Troubleshooting if you failed to see Nokia 8110 detected:
I found it might fail if your Firefox got updated to a newer version automatically, in this case you might need to leverage creating new profile to start over again, see here for details.
If the Firefox version stays correctly at 58 but after you click the device, it shows an error saying "Failed to connect", try to reboot the phone and also restart the WebIDE as this post suggested.
EDIT: Yes it is - Joelbert W's answer worked and makes the other responses a bit silly by comparison, just * and # together :-)
Unfortunately, it is currently not possible :-(

It is possible either with WebIDE connection or with a custom ROM such as GerdaOS where you can make screenshots by pressing Power with half-open slide lid.
However, I'd only recommend installing custom ROMs for experienced users only since you can't use any official updates after installing them.
So I have a go flip 3, and i stumbled on if u press * and # almost simultaneously, it takes a screenshot.
I believe it's possible on certain devices and OS versions using the Screen Capture API as well.

Citrix remote desktop not working on new computer

I got a new computer at work and I need to work remotely using citrix receiver. It works on my old computer. I download a .ica, launch it, and a remote desktop opens where I can work. The old computer had windows 7.
On the new computer, I installed the last version of citrix and tried, but it doesnt work. I dont get any error, it actually seems to work, but needs like 1 minute to detect my mouseclicks, until it finally disconnects. The new computer has windows 10.
I tried to uninstall the lastest version of citrix receiver, and install the same I have on the old computer (4.6) but the same happens.
So, the problem is it works VERY slow (1 minute to detect each click) and then before I even log into the remote machine, it just disconnects.
Im using the same network and citrix receiver version than in my old computer. Any idea if it can be windows 10 related or how can I find out what it is causing it?
Maybe this info can help: Ive noticed a difference when opening the network central. On my old computer (where it works) I see: Terminal Server - Citrix receiver. And at the bottom it says: 1 server 0 remote applications
On the new computer (doesnt work) it says: MAD-BDCOT-PS-02 - Remote Desktop Connection. And at the bottom: 1 server 1 remote application
That's the only difference I see, but Ive done the same in both cases.
Thanks
Made it work.
After trying many things for 2 days, even installing almost every citrix receiver version, a coworker gave me a file called CitrixOnlinePluginWeb, Instead of CitrixReceiver.
I dont know what it is, and I cant post a link since he gave it to me, but Im sure knowing the name makes it easy to find in google. With this, it worked.
By the way, I think the problem was windows 10, since before knowing this other installable, I tried in several computers, and it always worked on win7 ones and didnt on win10 ones.

Launch PostgreSQL GUI

I have installed PostgreSQL v9.6 on Windows 7 using my user (PC-Admin), the problem is when I start Pgadmin4.exe the application shows that it is starting then freeze without showing the GUI , taking the following notes into consideration:
it is working fine for other users on the PC even if not in admin group.
I tried to uninstall it , delete registry folders for local machine & local user and also delete the temp folder and Apps roaming , also the folder of the program in c:/ drive and then re-install it again and problem has not been solved.
I believe that something went wrong during first time installation for my user
but I could not figure it out.
Please help me, what to do in order to clear my installation profile and then having the GUI launched after short while from starting the Pgadmin4.exe
Regards
Solved and GUI started ! just by disconnecting PC from internet before opening the application.
pgAdmin4 hosts desktop application on 127.0.0.1:(Random_Port) when started, So if you have proxy setup then upgrade to pgAdmin4 version1.6, It has resolved the this proxy related issue. (Link)
