I've just installed the database server extension in dreamweaver cc and cs6. i have an existing site running classic ASP in dozens of pages built with previous DW versions all connected to SQL Server and working fine.
but now adobe has deprecated its server functionality and to get it back you must install that functionality with a free extension they have provided.
unfortunately when, after installing the extension, i open an ASP page and look into the Databases or Server Behaviors windows I can see the database names but there are no tables visible at all.
I've followed the steps in Adobe's help video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cB2vmNfcq7A and followed suggestions in numerous forums and blogs but cannot find a way to connect to the database once the extensions are installed.

At university we have a server lab in which we do development using VS2012 for web modules such as ASP.NET. For such modules, we use Microsoft's SQL server.
My question is which extension in VS2012 would enable you to right click inside an 'open' table giving you options such as Check Constraints, Relationships etc.
I ask this because I have downloaded VS2012 to work on my own personal projects, but on opening a table and right clicking it, I receive an entirely different set of options, and I don't really want to write the SQL myself.
Any help would be very much appreciated. I have installed Sql Server 2012 with management tools etc on my machine here but not really sure what that's meant to achieve or how to integrate it into VS.
Good day. :D
I'm in some trouble configuring BonitaBPM with Ms Sql database.
Already searched a lot on the internet but many of the examples used in mysql show, it tried to do the same, so that the problem that the files mentioned in the articles do not exist in my folders setup Bonita (Bundle, etc.).
I try to configure the file that links to BD's but gives a runtime error.
My goal is to use Ms Sql as the primary database, thus making the emigration of all tables in Bonita to SQL DB.
I would like to receive an example how to do this configuration.
Thank you already.
Actually Bonita BPM 6 can be configured to use Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (Bonitasoft provide official support for such configuration) but only with the JBoss bundle or other supported applications server such as Oracle WebLogic.
That is because:
Apache Tomcat is not a full Java EE application server
An extra library (Bitronix) is included to provide transaction management support
Bitronix has known issues with SQL Server
So only solution I may suggest is to switch to JBoss bundle, or, if possible, use an alternative DBMS such as PostgreSQL.
Sorry to not be able to come with a better option but here we facing a limitation of Bitronix library.
I am currently developing, from the ground up, my first asp.net website. After implementing many of the more basic features for my site I have run into a problem with Visual Basic 2010's SQL Server 2008 Express. I want to have search with my site so users can look for specific records in my database, and from what I have researched Full-Text Search is the best way to go (right?). It wasn't until I tried to test my code that I realized the default Express edition doesn't have Full-Text Search enabled. My question is a.) how can I upgrade to the SQL Server Advanced Services in the middle of development without losing my Database's, and b.) what download should I use, because right now I'm thinking http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?Id=25174.
I really want to be sure that I am not only installing the right software, but that I won't completely screw up my project in the process. Along those lines, should I backup my database's and then uninstall my original version of SQL Server before downloading the Advanced Services version? I would really appreciate some help here because I have had massive headaches in the past trying to upgrade Microsoft software and just want a smooth transition.
Well it took me the entirety of a day, but I solved this! First I had to uninstall EVERYTHING regarding SQL Server. Then I downloaded http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?Id=25174 (X86 since I am on Vista) and used .\SQLEXPRESS as my Instance Name. Once it was done installing I had to delete the SQLEXPRESS folder in 'C:\Users[Your computer's name!]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Data' to get my old connections to work! Then I could create databases in SQL Server Management Studio that had Full Text enabled.
I am trying to deploy a LightSwitch application to a hosted ASP.NET webserver in my company. The application access data stored on a SQL Server. My webserver admin is asking me if there are any special prerequisites needed for it to run. I've been reviewing the deployment guide
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bethmassi/archive/2010/09/23/configuring-a-machine-to-host-a-3-tier-lightswitch-application.aspx
The article lists that there was a server component, but that it might change when RTM arrived:
NOTE: The team is looking at simplifying this process and possibly making the LightSwitch server component pre-reqs go away so this process will likely change for RTM.
This other MSDN article states that there are prerequisites.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg481779.aspx
My webserver admin keeps saying there's nothing to install on the ASP.NET web server other than .NET 4.0.
Am I missing something?
Server setup procedures haven't changed since Beta 1 (although of course the runtime has changed). It's pretty simple; the prerequisites article that you cited has the correct information. Basically the process is:
Install the Web Platform Installer if you don't already have it installed
Fire up the WPI and search for the LightSwitch runtime
Install!
As mentioned in the article, you'll need to decide whether you want to install a new instance of SQL Server locally with the prerequisites. If you've already planned for a production SQL Server, you'll want to choose the "without local SQL" option.
I don't have a specific answer, but I would stand up a VM with the appropriate version of windows server on it and run through an install on a do novo machine. Should confirm or deny what your server admin says . . .
Has anyone successfully installed SQL Server Express 2008 with Advanced Services?
I've tried several times and half way through the installation I always get the error:
The downloaded file appears to be corrupt.
I found this thread on MSDN but it seems that no one there could get it to work. They were only successful in installing the 'SQL Server 2008 Express with Tools' (default) option.
I need to have Full-text Search so I need the 'Advanced Services' option. If anyone has successfully installed this then would be they so kind as to share the method used?
My experience in XP Pro SP3 and how I got through it. I went to the download page and clicked on the download link to install any version which downloads a bootstrapper (SQLEXP32_x86_ENU_Bootstraper.exe) which if you select the advanced services edition fails to load the install file (SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe) . After many headaches, disk cleanup, etc. I tried the link for the specific advanced services edition. This downloads the file (SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe) itself which can then be run. I had to run it from the command prompt, but that's probably just my persinickety system. At any rate, while there are probably more problems ahead, at least this get the installer running. It comes up with the SQL Server Installation and you have to step through it manually.
BTW I tried to post this to the social.microsoft site but couldn't log in.
Just curious if you've tried re-downloading the file from Microsoft's servers? If I remember right there was a 'blip' where some of the files posted to the servers were, in fact, corrupt.
I agree with Thomas that there are some really funny things going on with XP SP3 and SQL Server 2008 installs, particularly if you use a non-English locale. But the log files in that case should yield problems indicating an MSXML 6 problem (due to the MSXML files becoming protected), not a corrupt download file.
If you download the file again and run it, can you post the contents of the most recent Summary*.txt file you find on your C: drive? Just search for summary*.txt and it should be in a folder like...
%Program Files%\Microsoft SQL Server\Setup Bootstrap\Log\
...(but I forget exactly where Express puts this). This log file may yield better errors than the handful of exceptions the GUI has been coded to handle.

as of Nov 2009 the SQLEXPRADVx86ENU.exe claims to be 502M on the download page, but downloads as 356M, and does not execute. This happens on both a T1 and a DSL connection, so I'm fairly sure it's not the download failing.
I was able to install the "Runtime with Advanced Services" by using the unpleasantly painful Web Platform Installer.
